Thanks for those links, @dawson and avalyn. Really great reads! :) areyoureadytojump--as for "superstar" albums in 2015, obviously there will be Luke's next one, probably sometime this summer (I'm guessing he'll premiere the lead single at the ACM's in April, with the album out in either July or August), and I do think that Carrie might get her next album out by November or December. Here are some other "big-name" albums I expect to come out, though a lot of these probably won't do 500k total. • Reba (Nash Icon/Valory) — Should be out in April. • Toby Keith (Show Dog) — He's still a big name, but he obviously won't do anywhere near 500k anymore. • Alan Jackson (ACR/EMI) — Also a big name but he won't do 500k either. He is working on his next album though. • Billy Currington (Mercury) — I think 200-300k is probably the ceiling for Billy. • Chris Young (RCA) — Probably a late year release, and I don't think he can do 500k anyway. • Hunter Hayes (Atlantic/Warner Bros.) — He's gonna need to see a big rebound in momentum if he wants to do 500k+ again. His first album sold over 1.1 million, but his 2nd album Storyline hasn't even reached 200k. A sharp decrease in radio support was certainly a major contributing factor to Hunter's commercial decline. • Jake Owen (RCA) — Barefoot Blue Jean Night is certified Gold, but Days Of Gold has only sold around 200k or so, so he'd probably need 2-3 really big radio hits, and even then I'm not sure if his next album could do 500k. • Kacey Musgraves (Mercury) — It will really depend on when her album is released. I think it will do 500k+ but if the album is released later in the year, then it probably wouldn't cross 500k until sometime in 2016. • Keith Urban (Hit Red/Capitol) — His most recent album Fuse is certified Gold and has sold about 430k. New single "Raise 'Em Up" might push it to 500k. Keith has started to look toward his next project but it likely wouldn't be released until late in the year. • Scotty McCreery (19/Interscope/Mercury) — He'll need his singles to "hit" even bigger if he's gonna score another Gold album again. His debut album sold over 1.1 million, his sophomore album hasn't reached 300k. • The Band Perry (Republic) — They might be able to do it but probably not before year's end. Their debut sold more than 1.5 million, their 2nd album topped out around 530k. It will probably depend on the material and the radio success. • Zac Brown Band (Southern Ground/BMLG/Varvatos) — This is one act that should still easily surpass 500k. I think there will be a lot of hype for their next album--it should be a pretty hot commodity. Maddie & Tae and RaeLynn should also have full-length albums out in the first half of the year, but I doubt either of them makes it to 500k. Garth might release his next album in November too--it was part of the $29.99 GhostTunes bundle which promised all of his studio albums + Man Against Machine + an upcoming 2015 studio album (which means I've already paid for Garth's next album! I didn't use GhostTunes though, I just downloaded his discography directly from his website). Darius Rucker is confirmed for March but I'm not sure if he can reach 500k again. He definitely won't in 2015, anyway. His last 2 albums are both Gold-certified with 500k-ish in sales but it took a lot longer than a year for those albums to reach those numbers. Josh Turner and Easton Corbin are also rumored to release albums in March but neither will do 500k. Shania? If she ever decides to release an album again, who knows how it'll do... Maybe some newcomers could surprise us. And while they weren't released in 2015, the albums from Kenny, Blake, and Tim last fall could all conceivably cross 500k at some point this year. I think Sam Hunt's debut album could surpass 500k too.

Multiple stations interviewed Reba about her new music this morning and, among other things, she repeated the album is scheduled to be released in April and she confirmed that Brandy Clark has some cuts. This marks the second time Brandy Clark has had her material recorded by Reba. Reba previously recorded "Cry" and "The Day She Got Divorced" for All The Women I Am, and Brandy ultimately released her own version of "The Day She Got Divorced" on 12 Stories. In the interview, Reba also spoke about the diverse mix of songs that will be found on the album. She gave an April 16th date in this interview that aired today. Which doesn't make sense since that's a Thursday, so I'm going to guess she meant the 14th. soundcloud.com/97-1-hank-fm/dave-with-reba-full-interview-1-22

So far Amazon is only showing a preorder for the DVD or Blu-ray on its own, without a CD version. Hopefully it gets sold as a combo pack, and not as two separate items.

Shania is releasing the live from Vegas CD/DVD set. Chris Stapleton "Traveller" is out May 5. Was at the listening party last night (and witnessed the recording of the 14th track on the project) at RCA Studio A ( Now known as Grand Victor Sound)

Two things: #1 I'm really upset that "What Are You Listening To" isn't on the album. I downloaded it as a digital single, but still, that song is so incredible that it really should be on the album. #2 Does Chris know that he spelled "Traveller" wrong? In some areas it's acceptable to put a second "l" in the title, but the correct spelling is "Traveler". Even my Chrome and Microsoft Word spell-checkers agree. :) The whole two l's thing is going to bother me..

You know, as well as I do, that I am about the most thrilled guy today with the knowledge that this is going to be released. The lack of "What are you listening to" on this means, at least to me, that they are going to try to remarket him new and pretend he never released a single. I just hope they release "Parachute" to radio.

"Traveller" is the proper way to spell it in english. Like Centre, Tyres, Theatre and Jewellery and other words, the USA way of spelling was in many ways simplified. ;)
I am stoked for the record. It's an amazing record. And being there when he recorded the final track? Amazing! I should get the advance copy of the album soon! Woot Woot!

Seeing the track listing I don't see many, if any, that would be radio friendly ("Parachute" "When the Stars come Out") might be. Just glad Mercury allowed this to come to fruition. Been a huge fan back to the Steeldriver Days and have been eagerly antipicating this.

Not sure if they will release a single or not--I don't have high hopes that radio would play it and I think UMG/Mercury knows it too. They might try to come out with another single, but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't do a single but still release the album anyway. If artists like Sturgill Simpson can sell decently well without any airplay (pretty sure Simpson's album has outsold albums from Frankie Ballard and Eric Paslay), then I think Stapleton could as well. He seems to have quite a bit of that "underground" following type of thing going on.

Thrilled about the Chris Stapleton news! It seems to me that, along the lines of what jhomes87 suggests, if Mercury Nashville has set a release date for the album without so much as announcing a single to country radio, there isn't much of a plan to rely on radio. I obviously wouldn't be unhappy if he managed a hit (or multiple hits!) from the album, of course. In any event, I believe some members of the press outside of Nashville were sent some form of an advance (not a complete one, obviously), because chatter about his new music seemed to pick up last week, and that suggests a plan for advance promotion outside of the typical Music Row system. The NPR circuit combined with an eventual Austin City Limits date seems like it would be a natural fit, I can't imagine Chris Stapleton having any trouble securing a bunch of bookings at high-profile festivals that attract roots/Americana fans (in addition to country festival bookings like Big Barrel Fest in Dover, Delaware, which is already on his calendar), and he will easily be a tastemaker's favorite for late-night TV bookings when it's time for his album release, too. As for "What Are You Listening To?" not being on this album, I was initially disappointed, too, but it may have come down to the song not fitting amidst a full playlist of Dave Cobb-produced tracks. This Rolling Stone Country recap of the listening event seems to suggest that "What Are You Listening To" is "more polished" than the tracks on Traveller.

Yes, the album isn't "polished" but I DO expect them to try a single or two. If for only promo reasons. His producer is actually produced by the same guy (Dave Cobb) who produces Sturgill Simpson (and one of my favorite new "Americana" acts, Christian Lopez).
And, yes, that song wouldn't probably fit the overall theme of this album. That being said, I could see Target or Walmart getting 'deluxe' version with that and some other b-side as bonus tracks.

One Flew South Alum Eddie Bush Releases New Solo Album, Wide Open World - source
Those familiar with the country music landscape will certainly remember the harmonic trio One Flew South that charted a couple of songs a few years back like "My Kind of Beautiful" and "Life." The trio scattered to the wind following their stint on Decca (short of a single-show reunion planned at the Golf & Guitars Music Festival coming up in May), but singer/songwriter and terrific guitarist Eddie Bush never stopped following his dream and has just released a brand new solo album this week entitled Wide Open World.
Wide Open World is truly a collaboration between Eddie Bush and long time producer Dave Matthews. Says Bush, "The result is a collection of songs that is both invigorating musically, and lyrically poignant. It is a real journal of sonic expression, aimed at the challenge associated with moving forward after tough experiences, finding the always waiting Wide Open World, easy to see, difficult to attend. This is art, that comes complete with big choruses and beautiful musical interlude, combining pop sensibility with intelligent lyric and arrangement."
Eddie became a veteran of the Southeastern music scene with multiple CD releases to his credit before taking it to the national level in 2005 with his Infinity Nashville debut CD, Eddie Bush. The disc produced the Billboard Hot Country Single "Hard To Stop A Train", as well as a video of the tune, which earned rotation on several music related TV channels, including Great American County (GAC). Wide Open World is his fifth solo project outside of his One Flew South experience.
Wide Open World Track listing
1 Natural High 2 The Love I Wanna Make 3 Do My Thing 4 Chapter Two 5 Hellbent On Helpless 6 Walkin' Shoes 7 Buffalo 8 One Sided Conversation 9 That Kind of Man 10 Had to Have Her 11 Left Behind 12 Another Dream (That Got Away) 13 Wide Open World

Alternative-country artist Brandi Carlile‘s upcoming The Firewatcher’s Daughter will be released on March 3rd. The album is Carlile’s first on ATO, and first on an indie label.
The Firewatcher’s Daughter was recorded almost entirely as first takes without any demoing and little rehearsal before gathering at Bear Creek Studio in Washington State.
It's first single, “The Eye,” a song influenced by Crosby, Stills and Nash, is so intimate and hushed you can hear the quiver of Brandi’s voice in a flawless 3-part harmony. Lead-off track and first single “Wherever Is Your Heart” captures a fiery intensity.
The creative spirit of the album is also exemplified in Brandi’s sold-out Pin Drop Tour, which toured across the country this last fall. Playing historic rooms, Brandi and The Twins performed songs new and old without any amplification – no mics, no amps, no PA – relying only on their voices, acoustic instruments and the venues themselves. The Chicago Tribune attributed Carlile to proving “that sometimes music has more to say than speakers can communicate.”
The Firewatcher’s Daughter follows 2012’s ‘Bear Creek,’ which debuted in the Billboard Top 10, was hailed as “gorgeous” by Rolling Stone and “tremendously assured” by NPR. Brandi has sold out venues like Red Rocks, back to back nights at The Beacon Theater and performed at Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits and more.
Track listing: 1. Wherever Is Your Heart 2. The Eye 3. The Things I Regret 4. Mainstream Kid 5. Beginning To Feel The Years 6. Wilder (We’re Chained) 7. Blood Muscle Skin & Bone 8. I Belong To You 9. Alibi 10. The Stranger At My Door 11. Heroes And Songs 12. Murder In The City

Bear Creek and Give up the Ghost far my favorite albums of hers so far. I'm not an Elton John fan in the slighest, but her duet, Carousel, on Give up the Ghosts is stellar. Brandi is stellar at conveying emotion and her songwriting with the twins is top notch. If you haven't checked Brandi out, do it now. You won't regret it! BTW, Amazon is selling autographed copies.

Blackberry Smoke are gearing up to release a new album. Holding All the Roses, the band’s first on Rounder Records, will be available on Feb. 10. The band decided to leave Zac Brown’s Southern Ground label after a shakeup at the label. The followup to their 2012 release The Whippoorwill, Holding All the Roses was produced by Brendan O’Brien (The Black Crowes, Pearl Jam, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and Bruce Springsteen).
Singer-songwriter Charlie Starr said Holding All the Roses defines who the band is. “I think that this record does a really good job of conveying what we do and what we’re about,” Starr said. “People who enjoyed the ride of The Whippoorwill and the way those songs flowed, these are more up and down.”
The Whippoorwill was the Atlanta band’s most successful to date, peaking at No. 8 on the U.S. country albums chart via Billboard and spawning their first radio airplay charter in “Pretty Little Lie.”
Holding All The Roses Track List
1. Let Me Help You (Find the Door) 2. Holding All the Roses 3. Living in the Song 4. Rock and Roll Again 5. Woman in the Moon 6. Too High 7. Wish in One Hand 8. Randolph County Farewell 9. Payback’s a Bitch 10. Lay It All on Me 11. No Way Back to Eden 12. Fire in the Hole

I am so excited for the new Kristian Bush album. Prior to the tease of, "Trailer Hitch," I was skeptical of how well he could do on his own. When the song came out, it took me awhile to get into it, but I LOVE IT now. Great to see the album is officially getting released.
Has anyone heard anymore about the March 31st Josh Turner release?

Has anyone heard anymore about the March 31st Josh Turner release? Nothing concrete yet. I am guessing that the label is waiting for "Lay Low" to take off a bit more yet before they confirm this release, since it's more of a rumor than anything else at this point. Kristian's album sounds like it could be pretty cool. It's a bit funny though that we have upcoming albums titled Southern Style (Darius), Southern Gravity (Kristian), and Southernality (A Thousand Horses).

^ I believe Kristian has had the title Southern Gravity for a while so perhaps he had first dibs here, lol.
I also am glad that they not only tried to make a great album, but one that included songs to fit country radio and they are aiming for some commercial success. Judging by how well "Trailer Hitch" has done, that doesn't surprise me that Streamsound (Gallimore & company) is striving for that. They obviously would always want commercial success but I think they have done a great job so far with Kristian, his debut solo single and this record.

Julie Roberts is headed back into the studio this February with Shooter Jennings as her producer. It will follow-up her last Sun Records album released in 2013, Good Wine and Bad Decisions.

James House Songwriters Serenade Release Date: 2/17/15 Source
After nearly two decades in between his last album and it's predecessor, James House is wasting no time with release of his next project, Songwriters Serenade, on Feb. 17. The project has been teased by House on his Facebook wall with the hashtag, #songwritingwithsoldiers. A look at the co-songwriting credits includes many a veteran including artists like Jamey Johnson and Bill Anderson.
Says House about the Songwriting with Soldiers initiative, "I am so thrilled and honored to be involved in this wonderful cause that hits at the core of who I am; a songwriter. Darden Smith, the Founder & Creative Director and I have been friends for years and when we sat down to write the song "Me Too" for my upcoming album I realized I needed to be part of this organization. I hope you will take a few moments and read about what they do, become as excited about it as me and my team are and find a way to support this marvelous and loving cause."
Signed as a solo artist on MCA Nashville in 1990, House recorded two albums: James House and Hard Times for an Honest Man. The former accounted for "Don't Quit Me Now," a number 25 on the country charts. After exiting MCA, he co-wrote "Ain't That Lonely Yet" for Dwight Yoakam and "In a Week or Two" by Diamond Rio, both of which peaked at number 2 on the Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart in the early 1990s. By 1994, House had signed to Epic Records. His first album for that label, Days Gone By, was released that year, producing his highest-charting single in the top 10 "This Is Me Missing You". The album's title track, while not a single, was featured in the soundtrack for the movie The Cowboy Way. House released the independent Broken Glass Twisted Steel this last April.
