This was getting airplay at only one station last week (WSIX in Nashville), and no stations reported it as an add yesterday on Mediabase. Nevertheless, I checked AllAccess this morning and half a dozen stations started playing this one yesterday. In addition to 12 spins in the last week at WSIX, "Send It On Down" has picked up 2 plays each (most likely all of them coming yesterday) at KASE-Austin, TX; KKIX-Fayetteville, AR; KTST-Oklahoma City, OK; KZSN-Wichita, KS; KHEY-El Paso, TX; and KSSN-Little Rock, AR. Holy frick. I would be so floored to actually hear this on the radio. I hope that station in Wichita spins it some more, because I need to hear it. <333 Well, I have some bad news. Of course, it's good news that all of those stations played the song, but the bad news is that all of the spins have apparently come from The Bobby Bones Show. All of those stations are Clear Channel stations, and every singe spin (with the exception of those at WSIX) came in the AM hours. That just screamed "syndicated morning show spin" and, sure enough, I checked and each one of these CC stations carries the Bobby Bones Show. I give him credit for spinning the song - but I'm not convinced that it was more than a one-day thing. If he spins the song even once each morning, then I'll give him all the credit in the world, as he would be almost solely responsible for the song charting on Billboard. Obviously the Bobby Bones Show is on more than just 7 Clear Channel stations, but shows like that can be customized to fit individual stations. I'm not sure how it all works, but I also found it odd that all of the stations are in the south central part of the country (Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas). And WSIX is the flagship station for Bobby. Maybe this would be a good time for everybody to let Bobby know how much they love this song? Because he can get it on the chart if he plays it a handful of times this week on just those few stations.

This is a truly brilliant song from an excellent album. Country radio won't play it of course, but what else is new.
One of the writers of this song, Chris Knight, is in my opinion among the very best songwriters working today, and is criminally unknown. if you want to hear more songs like this, his recordings are well worth checking out.

I was worried about the 2-spins-per-station pattern but I don't even know what the syndicated shows are anymore. Might have something to do with "never listening to them." But I'll happily listen to Bobby Bones, whoever he is, if he goes on spinning Lee Ann. I'm ready to enter the 21st century if need be.
It does look like no spins on Tuesday for LAW. I'm coming down to earth.

Bobby was in the midst of talking about how he likes other types of music and he is mad that he isn't allowed to pick the playlists. He then went on to say that there "is a country song he actually likes" or something stupid along those lines and he played this one saying he "wasn't even sure it's a radio single." He encouraged people to go buy it, saying it was "his jam."
All of that could be paraphrasing, but you get the idea.
Sorry to those of us who thought this great tune was picking up regular play :(

Nash ICON WSM-FM is pummeling WSIX in the ratings in Music City which is undoubtedly sending shockwaves up & down Music Row as well as Clear Channel's VERY PRICEY Bobby Bones show, yet his own admission that he wasn't sure if this flawless track from a CD absolutely LOADED with them had even been released as a single is inexcusable and mind-boggling to put it mildly.
As someone who listened to Blair Garner on After Midnite as well as to hyperventilating motormouth Shawn Parr during his radio gigs here in LA on both KZLA as well as Go Country 105 for many years, those two gentlemen were ALWAYS prepared and were certainly up-to-date on ALL new music releases and certainly from format icons which certainly includes Ms. Womack, who sounds and looks as wonderful as she ever has some 18 years after 'The Fool' hit #1 @ R&R/Mediabase.
It's certainly no surprise to millions of country music fans including the TONS of them on this board that when the label honchos at Sugar Hill Records were extremely insistent that she record songs which meant a lot to her and which would collectively result in her current masterpiece which those same label execs as well as her husband and producer Frank Liddell were assured from the start would be recorded & released WITH NO EXPECTATIONS FOR COMMERCIAL SUCCESS, the result would be a downright scintillating gem of a CD.
Mr. Bones is simply paid too much $$$ not to know about the existence of this single and CD given his support staff and ample tons of resources from Premiere and Clear Channel--neither Garner nor Parr would ever make such a moronic statement on the airwaves. Bones is a professional who should know better than to go on the air so unprepared.
Thank you Ms. Womack for another superb CD--now if I could only STOP playing her previous masterpiece 'Call Me Crazy' so gosh-darned much.....

This song truly touches my heart. I can relate a little. Lee Ann is such an amazing story teller through song. Please support her and similar acts and let country radio that there is still a place for talent and emotion. If I were to try and think back to when a song hit me in the gut such as this one does, well, I can only think of George Strait's "Drinkin' Man." Both songs can just make a grown man cry. I sure do hope this song finds an audience and can chart.

Some of those stations that had played LAW twice have now played it 4 times. Then there are some that have played it 3 times, and 20 stations in all are listed as playing it twice or more on MB.
It doesn't add up to much, but the total is over 300k and if the BB total is somewhat higher than that, I'm guessing the song will fall just short of charting. Just to drive me around the bend for good. If there were a few recurrents -- but BB won't have many of those this week. Even Garth can't decide if he's leaving. 400k wouldn't have been good enough last week on Billboard, and I suppose it won't be good enough this week either. And can we expect any more spins over the weekend? Hard to imagine.
I'm not sure if Bobby B played the song again -- it has different numbers of spins on different stations, for one thing. I can hardly believe that all these stations have added the song and given it a spin, though. Maybe there is a different syndicated show that played it? Maybe some stations don't play Bobby B every day? I don't know.
I suppose it's all a plot to undermine my sanity.

Lee Ann Womack was invited to sing live on the Bobby Bones Show. She praised Bobby for playing more women on country radio and his show is great for country radio. Bones definitely got a good chuckle out of that one. :)
Bobby loves playing songs nobody else dares to play ranging from "Follow Your Arrow" to "All About That Bass". I wouldn't be surprised if he keeps playing it maybe 2x a week. He often does that with his pet favorite songs.

The fact that he played Jamie Lynn Spears song, "How Could I Want More," when no one else would play it (which was a shame) really made me appreciate him in that sense.

I can't believe that this one is the song we are talking about from this album as a possibility of charting! I'm not getting my hopes up completly yet but I'd be ecstatic to see this chart!

Lee Ann Womack was invited to sing live on the Bobby Bones Show. She praised Bobby for playing more women on country radio and his show is great for country radio. Did she play this song live acoustic? Because if that's the case, then much of the audience she's accumulated on Mediabase probably won't count on Billboard. As 43dudleyvillas pointed out in the Michael Ray "Kiss You In The Morning" thread, Mediabase does count acoustic versions of songs, but Billboard only counts the song as a spin if it detects the digital footprint that a studio recording has. If it was the studio version of the song, though, then I think there's a chance that Lee Ann can sneak on at #59 or #60 on tomorrow night's Billboard chart. Not a very high chance, though, because she needs quite a few things to go her way. Sam Hunt's "House Party" will probably fall off, but the only other possible recurrents are RaeLynn and Garth...I give RaeLynn about a 65% chance of going recurrent, and Garth a 55% chance of going recurrent. If those two drop off + the Sam Hunt album track, AND if the Bobby Bones Show spins of "Send It On Down" were all the studio version, then maybe, just maybe Lee Ann will sneak onto tomorrow's BB chart. I don't think I can give her more than a 25% chance of doing it, though (and even that might be generous). Oh, and for the record, I've got this song at about 0.474 million in Mediabase audience right now. Might be missing a few spins/a little bit of audience, but that should be pretty close to its total audience. Of course, the Billboard audience might only be half that (if the Bones show spins were acoustic/live), and an audience of 250k won't get this song into the BB top 60. Even 500k might not be enough. It depends on several variables.

Didn't help that Garth gained spins and audience on this morning's MB update. And RaeLynn lost more spins and audience, but nothing dramatic, so I don't have a good handle on that one's chances to go recurrent.
Seems to me that this probably won't work out, but there's no reason to give up hope right now.

It depends on several variables. It looks like it was indeed the acoustic version that got played, as she only has 264K in AI on Billboard this week. That was enough for New & Active, but a far cry from the 444K that the #60 Haley & Michaels song received. How disappointing. If it had been the studio version, she might have snuck onto the chart.

In this video released by Sonos, Lee Ann plays "Send It On Down" for a live audience in the Sonos LA Studio. She talks a little bit about what the new music and her Grammy Nomination means to her. (I don't recall this being posted anywhere on Pulse. Sorry for the double-post if it already has been posted). link
