I'm going to wait until I hear the studio version before casting any judgment. This could either be insanely catchy or insanely annoying. I'm honestly not sure which yet.

Wow. That's so disturbingly bad , its humorous! And with the exception of Mo Pitney & maybe Easton Corbin, when did it become code that dropping the word "country" in the title of your song meant it was anything but country?

That studio version better be the difference of all differences between an acoustic version vs. the studio version because that was atrocious. I don't know enough about David as an artist other than the few songs I've been exposed to but Red Bow is certainly doing him no favors with these single choices. I don't mind repetitiveness in songs if it's used properly and this is not one of those cases.
"Well get your blue jeans aw, aw, aw, aw, on Cause we're taking aw, aw, aw, aw, off Anywhere you wa, wa, wa, wa, want"
I don't even know if I'm properly deciphering the repetitive lyrics correctly. This song has zero redeeming qualities. Awful lyrics. Awful vocal arrangement. Mediocre melody. And a subject that should just be taken behind the woodshed and taken out of its misery. This won't even make it out of the 50's and unless Fanning can deliver better quality, he won't last much longer with BBLG.

Looks like David Fanning is going "Bro Country". David you stooped really low in my book. This song is not Country and is true garbage. I find this way worse than "Drink You Away". I mean what the hell were you thinking to follow up a song like that with a song that is "Bro Country"? I would be really surprised if this charts but I don't see it getting very far.

I stand by this post as I finally heard the studio version (its now available on iTunes). It's unbelievably bad. The production is not as awful as it could have been but its still overbearing - though anything that can cloak those hideous lyrics is actually a good thing in my book. The repetition is absolutely awful and it's nearly impossible to make it all the way through the song. I wasn't a fan of his remake of "Drink You Away" but I'll gladly take that back over this mess.

The irony of this song title can't be ignored.

This is so bad it's almost funny. It sounds more like an SNL/Mad TV parody of a bro country song than an actual song itself.

I'm apparently a glutton for punishment. The acoustic version evidently wasn't bad enough & I had to come back for the studio version. He really should be flogged for that song title being attached to this ..... "song".

Good lord this is one hot mess of a song. There's literally nothing about this that isn't totally unpleasant. I'm glad that he has no momentum or clout with radio so I don't expect this to be anything resembling a hit.

With a song as bad as this, I certainly don't think his career will be taking aw aw aw aw aw aw off

The song first started and I was thinking "Why does everyone despise this song so bad?". Then the chorus kicked in, and I was like "Ohh......... that's why" lol. Yeah, the song almost sounds like a parody song or something, not to be taken seriously.

Full size cover art: Songwriters are Josh Osborne, Heather Morgan and Jimmy Robbins. This is totally going to be a love it or hate it kind of song. It's damn catchy (because of the repetitive parts in the song). Edited to Add: Am I the only one who hears the riff from "Jack And Diane" from Mellencamp in this tune?

Songwriters are Josh Osborne, Heather Morgan and Jimmy Robbins. I suppose even songwriters of this caliber are allowed a turd every now and then. I mean, the verse and chorus sound almost the same musically and range wise. It's just - boring. Really, really boring. This guy makes Canaan Smith sound like Mick Jagger. ME

I mean, I literally cannot make it through the chorus of this song. If I'm laughing at how bad a song is, then that's a special kind of awful. I'm all for allowing songs to grow on me and I respect everyone's taste in what songs they do or don't enjoy but this song is head and shoulders the worst song released thus far in 2015, granted the year is young and I'm sure we'll get some heavy competition if 2013 and 2014 were any indicators.

Well with two fails from David, it looks like Broken Bow may drop him because let's be honest if he's this bad, then what else does he have to offer?

This got the first-ever "D" in Country Weekly's review section. The previous lowest rating I've seen them give since they switched to letter grades is C-. (Before then, they used 1-5 stars; I only ever saw one two-star and one one-star. And the latter was a Kidz Bop-type karaoke CD.) I have to wonder just how bad a song would be to get an "F" from them.
And yikes, even I think this is crap. The only reason I listened to it all the way through was because I wanted to see if it had ANYthing redeemable. Even "Ready Set Roll" had a couple genuinely good lyrics hiding under its ugly exterior, but this is completely irredeemable in my book.
I think David needs to uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh undo it.

I think at least half of the lyrics in this song are the names of recent Florida Georgia Line and Luke Bryan tours.

This sounds like if someone with a southern accent had a few too many Shiner Bocks and tried singing karaoke to a hip hop version of a Shania Twain song.
The bigger joke is that The Highway continues to play this one pretty regularly, although that's not surprising considering the last two times I've had the misfortune of flipping to that station it was "Ride" by Chase Rice and "Uptown Funk" by Mark Ronson.

The good news is that I don't think "Doin' Country Right" will be doing anything. It got just 1 add this past week for a total of 35 stations. It debuted at #60 on the 3/9 Billboard chart but fell off this past week.
Perhaps it can sneak in some weeks in the 50's, but so far radio doesn't seem overly enthusiastic about this one, which I understand in this case.

While I realize in the grand scheme of things Fanning charting with this turd of a song is no big deal, it still pisses me off that stuff like this can get on the charts while Lee Ann Womacks last two singles couldn't even chart.

David's on Broken Bow Label Group while Lee Ann's on Sugar Hill. That's pretty much the nuts and bolts of why. If we reversed this and David was on a super small label, I doubt this would get passed the 80's, it's that bad.

I think everyone has pretty much covered it... the repetitiveness is annoying and the rest of the song is abysmal at best. The good news is we won't have to worry about this taking off. I did love his cover of "Drink You Away" though. The bigger joke is that The Highway continues to play this one pretty regularly, although that's not surprising considering the last two times I've had the misfortune of flipping to that station it was "Ride" by Chase Rice and "Uptown Funk" by Mark Ronson. Wait what? Why is "Uptown Funk" being played on The Highway??
