From Billboard:
"Following Billboard's successful reimagining of the online Billboard Hot 100 chart, Billboard is excited to share the revamped online layout for our entire slate of renowned weekly charts.
The new changes follow the more intuitive, informative layout of the revamped Hot 100 that debuted in October.
An unprecedented new feature is that the weekly chart archives have been expanded significantly -- you can now peruse the entire weekly Hot 100 back to 1958, presented in the same format as the current Hot 100. (For instance, check out the very first Billboard Hot 100, topped by teen idol Ricky Nelson, from August 1958).
Similarly, the Billboard 200 charts are now viewable in full going back to 1985, so you can digest 30 years of album history with the same ease.
"For decades, the Billboard charts have been the definitive source for recorded music rankings," said John Amato, co-president of Billboard and The Hollywood Reporter. "The updated online charts now allow fans to easily access the songs and albums that served as the soundtrack to any moment in time."
What are you waiting for? Check them out now."
I think this is awesome!! Being able to go back and look at the full Hot 100 and BB200 is an awesome feature! Also, it's not just the Hot 100 and BB200, a bunch of other charts (such as R&B/Hip-Hop Songs) are available as well.

It's great we can see archives now. I've always been wondering why I can't look back to older charts. It would be very interesting to see them.

This is a free feature, and not subscription-based?

This is a free feature, and not subscription-based? I don't see a link yet anywhere on the main page, but the url for the archives is www.billboard.com/archive/chartsIt looks like some of the charts aren't listed fully (for example, Pop Songs only lists 20 songs), but they're all available in some capacity.

It's in the new "format."
I hope they don't change the Billboard.biz charts.

GAAHH! Too many classics! And the Dixie Chicks' first Hot 100 appearance. And I'm old.

So free? ugh! That devalues the subscription a bit, especially since they are shortening several charts in .biz as opposed to give subscribers something for the money.
Going back to 1958 and 1985 on subscription for full charts has been in place for a while.

I'm a bit disappointed that the lengths of charts other than the Hot 100 hasn't changed. Since they don't have the sort function anymore, that means I can't see gainers/losers/long-termers for charts like the dance club and hot genres, *especially* Hot Rap and R&B (which are 15 positions each out of 25).
Basically, this change makes the charts on one page and nothing else (except looking better).

Leave it to Billboard to break what was fixed, or try to fix what wasn't necessarily broken, or try to pass off a major overall downgrade as an upgrade. (Should we have expected anything better from a former Axis of Evil winner? ) The one thing that might actually be an improvement is the reorganization of the archives - previously, you'd have to go to the chart in question, and the ability to access that chart's archive would be toward the bottom of the page. Now, one link (even further at the bottom) takes you to a main archive, where you can then choose your timeframe and then your chart. I'll give them that, as an improvement, but that is heavily outweighed by them also cutting off what can be seen.

As a non-subscriber, the ability to view the full Hot 100 instead of just the Top 10 in archives is huge. Along with various other charts that only showed 10 songs in archives previously. But I agree that this sucks for subscribers and I do think they need to bring back the sort feature again for genre charts

I am pissed at the killing of sorting. I have to abandon my Alt archives now. I made it up to 1997 before the fuckers made it impossible for me finish.
