Expect to see Uptown Funk and Thinking Out Loud locked in the top 2 for at least 3-4 weeks.

"Uptown Funk" is poised to challenge "Blurred Lines" massive radio appeal. 300 Million peak anyone? I don't see it happening because of the season. If this was released in the summer I do think it could've reached that high, but I expect this to stall out around 250 million.
It's getting played on Top 40, Hot AC, Rhythmic, AC...and I can see it making it's crossover to Urban and Urban AC pretty soon.

In the summer the weather is much nicer therefore a lot more people are probably out enjoying the weather rather than being stuck indoors listening to the radio that's my logic at least

During the winter months there doesn't appear to be as much synching between the formats.

Could Earned It or Love Me Like You Do hit the top ten this week due to the release of their videos, which caused sales to spike?

Come again? huh? you don't think Adele's next song / album release isn't going to be huge? that's crazy. Katy Perry's first releases are always huge…Roar and Dark Horse are 2 of her biggest hits.

What's with the very tame update for TOL and UF? Pretty sure they were still going at 4M+/day a few days ago.

Presuming Taylor doesn't do the same with Style, I think if Ariana performs One Last Time at the Grammys and releases the video straight after, it may have a chance at #1..

Come again? ok but Adele is still Adele there's no way around the fact that regardless of how good the song is it'll probably smash. And are we ignoring the fact that katy perry will debut said new music during the super bowl, an event that's viewed by around 100 million people a year.

I'm just confused as to how Adele or Katy Perry releasing a song would suddenly make "Uptown Funk" stop increasing.

But yeah depends on how strong the top 2/3 (Uptown Funk, Thinking Out Loud, Blank Space) is looking then.

The original post was talking about "Uptown Funk" challenging "Blurred Lines" for the AI record. It had nothing to do with the number one position of the Hot 100.

My point was taking over #1 not UF breaking radio records

I don't see it happening because of the season. If this was released in the summer I do think it could've reached that high, but I expect this to stall out around 250 million. It's getting played on Top 40, Hot AC, Rhythmic, AC...and I can see it making it's crossover to Urban and Urban AC pretty soon. Which has nothing to do with the Hot 100 #1.

Does Lips Are Movin have a chance at #3? It would be like fun. who got a long-running #1 followed by a #3-peaking song (except WAY was on the chart exactly 3/4 of the amount of time that SN was on)

I think it depends on how fast Blank Space falls in radio and quickly LAM does. BS will rule in sales

Sorry I didn't mean for that to look like a question I was stating that fun. were the ones who did that although you're right that Katy also did it. I much preferred HNC to IKAG - I wasn't a fan of Katy at all at the time until late 2010 but HNC was such a jam to me. Glad it ended up having much more longevity than IKAG. HNC and E.T. are her best songs IMO.

Lips Are Movin looks like a song that could end up peaking on sales and airplay at different times so I think it will be about timing for Meghan to see if LAM gets higher.
