Its like early 00s one hit wonder fest over here, Alien Ant Farm and Crazy Town are releasing random crap. All we need is for The Ataris and Wheatus to join in the fun and we've got a real party.

In This Diary doesn't count as a hit. I didn't last 4 months, no one remembers it outside of Pulse, and I doubt any radio station has played it since like 2004. If that counts as a hit, then the standard for what we consider to be hits has become more laughable than the standard for a passing grade in the U.S. education system.

You don't need the second hit necessarily to be remembered, I don't think there are many one-hit wonders with forgotten hits period.

They don't even have a second hit, which is why I called them a one-hit wonder in the first place Who cares about whether or not their non-hit singles are remembered??

The point is it was a hit back then. It may not be as remembered today, but in 2003 it was a hit. Most bands that we consider one-hit wonders today never had a second hit back in the day.

I still remember hearing "In This Diary" and "The Saddest Song" on the radio a good amount on my former local station back then. Obviously, "Boys of Summer" was played a ridiculous amount.

same here. "In This Diary" being my favourite. back to Alian Ant Farm. I don't really recall anything aside from the greatness of "Movies". There's the Michael Jackson cover, but that wasn't very good.

Ah kk, so Crazy Town aren't one hit wonders either then because of that song from their second album that peaked in the mid 20s, because radio played it back then.
Same with American Hi-Fi. In fact, there's no such thing as a one hit wonder by this logic.

Crazy Town peaked in the 20s, so that's not a hit.

All technical definitions of "one-hit wonder" aside, let's face it, it would be foolish to deny that pretty much all of these bands are remembered today for a single song. "In This Diary" peaked at #11 and dropped off into obscurity within a month of peaking lol.

I will say this, for the past hour I've been going through the early 2000s chart archives and revisiting random one-hit wonders from the time thanks to this discussion.
For starters:

For starters: I've never heard that one before. Hell, the only thing I know about them was that they originally wrote Bowling for Soup's 1985.

For starters: Although these guys becoming one hit wonders was a bit unfair IMO..."If i Am" is fantastic and their album was pretty solid.

For starters: I've never heard that one before. Hell, the only thing I know about them was that they originally wrote Bowling for Soup's 1985. That was a huge hit back then at the spawn of pop-punk becoming big. They had another very minor hit from that album called "Politically Correct." With their next album, they had another minor hit called "Tomorrow" which to me sounded more like a Linkin Park song. Nine Days - "Story of a Girl" is absolutely a one hit wonder. I never heard any other songs by them. What about Wheatus's "Teenage Dirtbag" as well? Citizen King's "Better Days" might be too. Although, I remember hearing "Under the Influence" a decent amount on the radio back then too.

Btw, this song is good. Besides their first album way back in 2001, I always thought they deserved so much more success. I doubt they'll get it now, but here's hoping.

The King of One Hit Wonders and this hit on Alt pretty big too., was "Little Black Backpack" from Stroke 9. Still play this one all the time. I also loved Nine Days

Why only alternative one-hit wonders haha?
How about some love for U.P.O.'s "Godless".

If I actually had the time, I could probably go through my whole discography and come up with over 300 bands that could be considered one hit wonders. I'd assume that most would be from the 90s.
