I'm disappointed there were only two singles from 10,000 Towns because "10,000 Towns" and "Just Add Moonlight" were so damn radio-friendly, but I'm excited for some new EYB music. The title sounds to me like an upbeat good time song, so hopefully that will help them regain some momentum at radio.

I mean Dust was a follow-up to a #1 song and could only muster a top 20 peak (although I think the label did their best to push it)

Flop wasn't the right choice of word.

The title sounds to me like an upbeat good time song, so hopefully that will help them regain some momentum at radio. I am too but I knew there wouldn't be another release the longer "Dust" lasted. With the timing of the fall and the fact that "Dust" wasn't too successful considering EYB's previous releases (it still was IMO, don't get me wrong), I wasn't surprises Republic Nashville decided to end it at two singles. I do think they thought about it but in the end they just weren't ready to commit another 30 week chart run for a single that in all likelihood, wouldn't have outpeaked "Dust". I think Republic thinks they have a good system going here with EYB and keeping it at 2-3 singles per album is a good idea. I've always been a fan of them since their Level album and I'm excited to hear this, though like zack97 said, the title makes me nervous...though I said the same thing about "Drunk Last Night".

As much as I enjoy EYB, that title makes me nervous. But I'll hold off on judgement until I hear it of course.

Y'all must have really dirty minds, because the title doesn't make me nervous. Seriously, I saw this and thought it could be about a couple hearing "their" song and the memories associated with it. I couldn't imagine EYB going the generic route with a "Turn It On, Turn it up" type song, I'm betting on a fun (quality) uptempo song.

EYB, probably more than most, seem to leave so many gems unreleased. Your Last Broken Heart, 10,000 Towns, & Just Add Moonlight all had potential to do well...and I feel like they would have made more of an impact than Dust did.

Hope this turns out amazing for them. I agree that they had some really great unreleased songs that could of smashed but quite frankly if this lead single is as good as those than this being a lead single should work better for them. I Love eli young band and seriously am happy they are moving on so we get more released jems

Your Last Broken Heart, 10,000 Towns, & Just Add Moonlight all had potential to do well...and I feel like they would have made more of an impact than Dust did. I really thought Dust would have no trouble keeping their momentum, but I agree. 10,000 Towns especially is just such an earworm that I refuse to believe it wouldn't have been a big hit, even as a 3rd single. Still, their biggest mistake to date is Say Goodnight, and they really haven't recovered since. Drunk Last Night was a big hit (and went Gold), but it didn't really generate momentum the way Crazy Girl and Even If It Breaks Your Heart did (the album sales for 10,000 Towns bore that out). They had so much momentum after EIIBYH, and so many big hits waiting to be released (Every Other Memory, The Falling, ect). It may be the worst decision that a Big Machine imprint has made to date, and you have to wonder if they'll ever get back to that point. As for this song, the title makes me a bit nervous, but I'm still beyond excited for new EYB music. Does anyone know who the songwriters are? I checked BMI and doesn't appear that Mike Eli or James Young had a hand in it.

Also, for what it's worth... it says "Brand New Song" at the beginning of the video but doesn't necessarily say it'll be released as a single. Also, March 10th is a Tuesday, so...we might take this with a grain of salt for the time being. Either way, it'll be good to hear some new music from EYB.

^Those lyrics just about confirm everyone's worries lol. The instrumentation still could be solid though, so hopefully they'll at least do well in that department.

Also, March 10th is a Tuesday, so...we might take this with a grain of salt for the time being. Either way, it'll be good to hear some new music from EYB. Tuesdays are when songs go to iTunes, so March 10th is almost certainly the digital release for this one. It will most likely have an adds date sometime shortly after that. I don't see anything wrong with those lyrics posted above. That's about what I expected based on the title. It does seem pretty generic but I've generally liked everything this band has done so I'm not too worried about this one. Still, I definitely agree with others here. EYB and Republic Nashville have left some absolutely incredible, surefire hits on the band's last 2 albums, all thanks to one of the most bizarre decisions ever--the release of "Say Goodnight". Life At Best had some way better options, notably "The Falling" and "Skeletons". And then 10,000 Towns was full of great tracks, virtually any of which could have been a big hit. I did like "Dust" a lot but looking back, I don't think it was the best choice to follow-up "Drunk Last Night" with. I think "10,000 Towns", "Just Add Moonlight", and "Your Last Broken Heart" could have all been bigger hits than "Dust" was. And actually I think "Prayer For The Road" would have been a risk worth taking...I think that, if "Prayer For The Road" were the 2nd single and following up a big hit ("Drunk Last Night"), then it would have done very well.

"Dust" made the top 15 and lasted over 30 weeks. That's not a flop. I meant it failed to perform like Even If It Breaks Hour Heart. Everything will always pale in comparison to "Even If It Breaks Your Heart", so I wouldn't compare any of EYB's future singles to it. Songs like that don't come around often. Anyway, I'm bummed that the 10,000 Towns era is over. The title track, "Just Add Moonlight", and "Prayer for the Road" were all fantastic songs that I would have loved to seen released. But they rarely disappoint so I'm excited for new material.

Crap. I had a bad feeling this would happen. Not even a year after 10,000 Towns was released, they're already moving on to a new album. I know that it's for the sake of keeping their momentum up, but there were way too many unreleased gems from that album that would've sounded fantastic on the airwaves.
Oh well, you win some, you lose some, I guess. Here's to (hopefully) another successful lead single and, perhaps, a better handled album era.

There's a 14 second clip of the song on the band's Facebook page. It won't let me embed the post (says something about privacy settings not allowing it). Initial impression: sounds like it'll be my least favorite EYB single ever. It sounds way over-produced and the lyrics are just...generic.

I'll wait til I hear the whole thing to make any sort of verdict. This ships to radio on February 23rd. :) BTW: Am I the only one who can't see your avatar anymore?

So all the songs on the EP will eventually be on the new album? If that's the case, then I'm not a fan of that tactic. Sam Hunt did the same thing, and IMO, the EP kind of killed the excitement for the album, seeing how there was only 5 songs on the album that we hadn't heard yet. I would prefer they just release an EP or Extended Play, and then work on new material for a full length album that won't have half retread songs on it.

Not the biggest fan of the fellow songwriters and producers on this EP but I do enjoy most of Ross Copperman's stuff so that's a plus I guess. Neither Jeremy nor Ross has ever written or produced anything from EYB before. I do think BMLG/Republic Nashville wanted to change some things up for this new music era, but I hope that the EYB I grew to love with their last few albums isn't compromised.

Not very encouraged by that clip, but it's so short that I'm trying to keep my hopes up. It sounded radio-friendly if nothing else, but man that hit the generic trifecta. The lyrics weren't encouraging, but strong verses can remedy that (if James Young indeed co-wrote this, I have to believe the verses will still be strong). What really concerned me though was how generic the production sounded - outside of Say Goodnight EYB has always been so distinctive in that department. Plus it almost drowned Mike Eli out at times (although he still sounded fantastic as always). Frank Liddell is arguably the best producer in the business, I don't get changing up at all. I hope he produces at least some of the new album.
