This was one of my favorites when I first bought the album. I loved the organ. Going into the spring/summer months, I think MAYBE "Broke Record" or "Roller Coaster Ride" may have been better/safer choice. I think this can probably sneak into Top 15, but it may close out this era. I would love to have a shorter time between Church albums LOL usually he's right on about 2 1/2 years each album. Why would they not have opted to play this at the Grammys? They could have gotten some good exposure there for sure.

Seems the producers really didn't want anything "new" unlike the previous year.

Great choice. I love this song, it has a classic rock feel to it. I have no idea how it will do on the charts, but as long as it can squeak into the top 20, it won't matter that much for Eric.

Somebody at WYRK told me this was the confirmed to them that this was the fifth single but was just waiting on the "official" word. Lol
I knew it would be this or "Roller Coaster Ride" and I expect the former to get released as well.
Nice cover art Matt. :)

This has a classic feel to it but it still feels like a country song. So I expect it to do well.

I love the oldies feel of this. If that's the right term for it. Such a creatively produced song, as is everything else on the album. I'm expecting this to be one of his biggest hits.
....but mind boggling as to why he didn't do this on the Grammys. Whatever, still gonna be a huge hit imo.

Plus with the heavy ballad feel of the show (rather depressing feel, lol), I think they wanted something more upbeat from Eric's performance slot. Certainly not saying "Give Me Back My Hometown" is some party anthem but it's more upbeat and rockin' than "Like A Wrecking Ball". I think those were the two reasons they went with "Hometown".

"Hometown" was also a double Nominee so it certainly made sense to play it, especially if it had one one or both those awards.

I personally think it was a real long shot to win either of those awards anyway, but yeah, that's another big reason.

Yeah, there wasn't a good enough wrecking ball image available for free so I went with a "Rubble" image of a house from somewhere for the "art".

I love this song! Is it too late to get it on the "50 Shades of Grey" soundtrack?! lol! Seriously though it's very different for Country radio and that's a great thing! Finally a song about making love that doesn't involve a truck! Who woulda thought!

One of my favorites from The Outsiders. This song is so sexy and smooth with its fantastic imagery, I love it.
I see this having similar chart runs as "Creepin'" and "Like Jesus Does", a Top 10 hit with the chance to sneak into the Top 5.

Sorry, but I'm not feeling this one at all. A song about vigorous sex while the song itself isn't vigurous and just puts me to sleep. Easily my least favorite thing he has done

This is a win win for him. Either A.) it's going to have a nice run to the top 5 or number 1, or B.) it stalls around 15-20 area with outstanding sales (like Smoke a Little Smoke/Homeboy)

Easily my least favorite thing he has done I more or less have to agree with you on this one. This song has never really been anything but ho-hum for me on an otherwise stellar album. I've never found myself wanting to go back to listen to it again and find that I skip it more than anything. I still think "Dark Side" would've been a great way to close out the Outsider's era with (even if its chart success would've been riskier).

^ Oh yeah. I'll say at least 2 more. Either Broke Record/Roller Coaster next, with Dark Side/Man Who Was Gonna Die Young to close it out. Wouldn't even be surprised if he went with "Devil Devil" cutting out the long intro, because well, it's Eric Church.

I've seen so many pretty much saying that it's a guarantee, and Eric and EMI might be hoping for that, but things change and by the time the next single is finishing its climb, they might decide to end The Outsiders era for whatever reason. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised at two more, but we'll definitely get one more for sure. This album got released one year ago and the singles have sold very well. Plus Eric has brought up numerous times how he doesn't enjoy the album making process and likes to settle in for a while with each one. "Like A Wrecking Ball" will not be the final single.

I'd agree, in that I think at least two more singles are coming from this album. He said he wants to extend this era longer than usual, so I think that after LAWB we'll see "Roller Coaster Ride" and "Dark Side" released.
As for this song, I enjoy it. Don't love it, but it is solid. I'll say it sells REALLY well and scrapes the top 10.

I'd pretty surprised if this was the final single. Expect at least one more to be released from this album. Anything is possible for sure, I just don't see a timetable where another single gets released. This one will take us all the way through summer and into the end of July for sure (working with a 20 week chart run at a bare minimum). Anything beyond that takes us into August/September. If that's the case that puts us into Spring/Summer of 2016 before any new EC music is released (considering they do opt for another single from this album). That said, I do expect LAWB to be a decent hit for Eric and I'll take any chart success he gets with a thumbs up.

I think late 2016 is the earliest one would come out, but summer or fall 2017 seems more likely to me. That's just the way Eric is. He has stated numerous times that he doesn't plan on making a ton of albums in his career, simply because a) he likes being on the road and playing for his fans more and b) he's not the biggest fan of everything that goes into the album-making process. It's a lot of work, so he focuses on making the best album he possibly can. I think he's determined to stick with each album for a while, and I think he has the full support of EMI as well. I think there'll probably be one more single after LAWB yet, but nothing would surprise me. Maybe he'll have a change of heart and move on after this, or maybe he'll put out 2 more singles yet. No way we can know for sure, but based on his past comments, I'm not expecting another EC album anytime soon.

If he releases ANYTHING in the next year or so, I'd guess it'll be another live album. (please)

Not surprised, although I was hoping for "A Man Who Was Gonna Die Young". This should do well, though I think it's a little too polarizing to go all the way to #1.
