Artist: Brothers Osborne Single: "Stay A Little Longer" Writers: Josh Osborne, T.J Osborne, Shane McAnally Album: Brothers Osborne EPLabel: EMI Nashville Add Date: March 30th, 2015 SourceChart Run: 49* - 46* - 40* - 38* - 40* - 41* - 44* - 43* - 37* - 38* - 37* - 36* - 34* - 35* - 33* - 31* - 29* - 27* - 26* - 27* - 27* - 27* - 26* - 23* (Mediabase) WBEE put this up as their "Music Meeting Song of the Day", and I've known from being familiar with them that they only do that with confirmed singles sent to them by labels. Billy Kidd can be seen introducing the song on the stations facebook page. Windmills and Brothers Osborne's twitter retweeted the music meeting tweet as well.

Was a huge fan of "Rum". One of my favorite songs from 2014, loved the summer feel to it. This doesn't do too much for me. Osborne sounds incredibly bored while singing, and I don't find the melody catchy at all.

Well, one of my predictions for 2015 was that this would be the Brothers Osborne's first hit and peak in the top-10. I am already doing horrendously in my predictions for the year though, so hopefully I didn't jinx this song, because I've adored it for a while. I love the yearning in T.J. Osborne's voice on the verses (and I like his voice's soulfulness to begin with), I enjoy the very McAnally rhythm that comes with the pre-chorus, I love the way John Osborne's harmonies join in for the chorus help with the build, and I love the way the lyrical progression of the hookup matches the musical build. I also really love the mandolin work on the tune. I just feel like there's a real character to this song -- it's completely believable to me, and I think it's pretty catchy, as well. So here's hoping that it works for these guys. They are far and away my favorite male duo in mainstream country right now.

Add date is March 9th according to Music Row. Just...why? I know it's closer to the end of CRS - I don't care. Have they seen that add day?

Yes, it's very strange that not just UMG but EMI Nashville has two songs going for adds next Monday, this and Eric Church's "Like a Wrecking Ball." Eric Church has a hot hit on his hands and he really doesn't need an official adds date to do just fine on the charts, so I expect the focus next week will be on this single. I guess there's just no perfect adds date anytime soon enough. "Hangover Tonight" went for adds today, "Biscuits" goes for adds two weeks from now. The new Lady Antebellum single will probably get an adds date by the end of March. I still think this can pull off a decent amount of first week adds (at least 10-20) and maybe slowly pick up additional adds over the course of the rest of the month.

While I agree there's no perfect add date for this single, March 9th is literally the worst day of Q1 thus far, and probably will be one of the most brutal add days of 2015. Before the add date was announced, I was thinking March 23rd or the 30th. I completely understand why they would want a single so closely after CRS and "Rum" exited the charts last Fall, so they desperately needed a single pronto, but waiting an extra two to three weeks would have been my play here. I agree about EMI having some more work to do with getting early adds than Eric's single and the slow and steady approach might seem unavoidable, but you must set your singles up for the best opportunity to succeed and March 9th isn't it IMHO.

I really disliked "Rum" at first, but the catchiness wore on me.... so I *kind of* grew fond if it. I like this WAY better though. Very, very good. I actually checked their music out when I thought I was going to see them on the last leg of Little Big Town's Painkiller Tour. I wasn't able to go, but I remember liking what I heard. I'll have to give their stuff a listen again. But I love this. I heard "Rum" on the radio more often than I thought I would, so I hope thats the case with this one.

I think EMI got caught up in the hype from the UMG / CRS Ryman show. 3/16 or 3/23 helps set this up much better. 3/9 is just WAY too crowded.

"Stay A Little Longer" only got 3 adds today - I know the 'add date' was published in Music Row but I suspect that today wasn't the actual adds date for this one, especially considering the fact that Music Row was the only place to publish the add date - it wasn't published in Country Aircheck, Billboard, AllAccess, or any of the other usual sources. Maybe today was the adds date for the secondary markets, but I do expect "Stay A Little Longer" to get a more official adds date soon, possibly March 30th or April 6.

It was issued to radio today. Add Date is: 3/30 This is exactly what I was thinking. I was pretty sure the March 9 "adds date" listed on Music Row's website would actually be the date that this one would get shipped to radio, and that an actual adds date would be forthcoming. Glad to hear that it's the 30th.

The secondary radio reasoning makes the most logical sense, though never put it past Music Row to misinterpret something in translation or just typo something (this is the same website that listed Rachele Lynae's single going for adds twice). Plus the 9th was way too stacked and even with CRS hype, EMI clearly noticed that. The 30th is a perfect date. Thanks for the cover art rsmatto. :)

I thought this was interesting from Billboard's mid-week update. I am curious to see how this one performs at radio. EMI seems intent on this song being their breakthrough hit, given the reaction from CRS, and the reaction from playing the song live for fans. A part of me feels that could be the case since it could stand out enough sonically at radio, but the pessimistic side of me says radio won't completely warm up to this song by the time summer hits and it'll get buried in the shuffle. BTW: The article says that EMI intended to send the song on March 9th to Play Mpe as the brothers "second" single...it's their third Billboard. They may have meant from their EP only, but they should have specified that, lol.

This song definitely should be their breakout hit. If it had been recorded before the first single, they might've seen Rum get higher than it did.

This is an interview with Brothers Osborne that is an article on Rolling Stone. Both John and T.J gave an honest response to the recent hit music on country radio lately, when talking about their own musical offerings: Rolling Stone

Lol, I was listening to the demo version all this time. This is actually pretty damn catchy, and not as terrible monotonous as the demo sounded. I hope this does well.

I agree with phil1996. The production really adds a unique feel to this song and makes it stand out a surprising amount more than the original version. I expect this will be the Brothers Osborne's first top 20 single. It's still a pretty traditional song so I don't see this going all the way and even top 10 would surprise me, but this should get the duo's album out and build up some momentum.

I also love the last 3 or so minutes of the song. Really like the way their music sounds....kind of Eric Church esque. Different, but really good (and country).

I actually expect this song to be a huge hit, most likely a #1. Brothers Osborne was one of only 3 UMG artists (the other 2 being Chris Stapleton and Vince Gill) to get a standing ovation at CRS. I think radio loves these guys and they've just been waiting for the "right" song from them, and this song is it. It's a really good song and I expect fans to jump all over it too. Radio folks have always been incredibly impressed by Chris Stapleton, but unfortunately his music isn't "radio-friendly" enough to get played, and Vince Gill, well, he's "too old". But at least they'll play Brothers Osborne--or at least, I expect that they will anyway.

I'm completely obsessed with this song. Brothers Osborne are the new country act I'm mopst excited for at the moment and this sounds like their breakthrough. The amount of first week adds is promising and jhomes87' optimism has me hopeful that radio will allow this to become the hit it deserves to be.

This is REALLY good, and I'm growing to really enjoy Brothers Osborne. Very unique act, don't sound like anything else on radio. I think this'll be at least a top 10 hit, and maybe a #1.

I'm probably in the minority in that the new Jay Joyce-produced version of this one does little for me -- I miss the mandolin and the emotional intensity of the original, and I don't understand why Joyce made T.J. Osborne sound like a robot on the first chorus (I just don't get the point of layering vocals there). The new version is certainly more "muscular," but it doesn't feel as true to the lyric as I would like. But I'm still very much rooting for these guys and this song.

13 more adds for "Stay A Little Longer" this week and it debuts all the way at #49 on Billboard this week with an increase of 1.32 million in audience, and soars up 14 spots to #54 on MB.
This is definitely the strongest two week start of their three singles thus far and I'd be shocked if this song didn't get their studio album released.

These guys got it right. Brothers Osborne is all about emotion and more deep Country songs which I love. I know these guys will be around for quite a while and I'm damn proud of them.
