Odd title but nevertheless I'm excited.

It's a fun song, but I don't see it "solving her radio problem." Hope I'm wrong, though.

Kurt I just added a video in from last year of the song. It's probably one of my favorites of the new songs she's played. Hoping it does well for her!

Wasn't crazy about the title when I saw it, but from the live performances, I already love this. Definitely looking forward to new Kacey Musgraves music. Being a lead single, I expect this to have an easier time up the charts than her last couple releases. Really would love for this to be a #1 hit for her.

It's a fun song, but I don't see it "solving her radio problem." Hope I'm wrong, though. Granted, I haven't had a chance to hear it yet , but looking at the sausage-fest that is Country radio today , I'm not sure of anything short of a gender reassignment surgery would fix her radio problem.

I love Kacey's songwriting, her style is really a throwback to people like Dolly & Loretta that weren't afraid to throw a lyrical punch as women in a male dominated genre

I like this, and I'm happy to see Kacey's style has remained solid and intact.
I don't see radio being on board with this any more than any of her past singles, other than the fact that she might receive some initial "buzz" spins from radio, if she's lucky.
That said, it's pretty clear Kacey doesn't make music that's tailored for radio, and I find that refreshing.
Radio support would be a nice bonus for her (for obvious reasons), but she has insane critical love, and she seems to have built a loyal fanbase, which should sustain her for awhile.
She's not in the position where she really needs the support/push of radio, so I don't think whether they catch on is all that important.
It's reallly awesome to see a female Country artist who can and WILL do her own thing succeeding on her own, because Country music makes that damn near Impossible these days.

If "Merry Go 'Round" could make it to the Top 10, I can this doing at least as well. It sounds like a more radio-friendly song than that and "Follow Your Arrow" were. I think she'll eventually connect with radio the way Eric Church did, even if it doesn't happen right away, and she might have some resistance with a single here or there (similar to Church -- his current era has gone back and forth between big hits and not-so-big hits). I can see this being her biggest hit yet, especially if it sells well like MGR did.

I can see this being her biggest hit yet, especially if it sells well like MGR did. This. You summed it up perfect. Much like Eric, Kacey has a sort of outlaw persona, and I think in the future she will learn to balance the radio songs (for Eric it would be the Springsteen and Talladega type of songs) and the risky release type songs (Cold One and Homeboy). And actually, after listening to the song, I'm not going to rule this out from being a hit on radio. I didn't listen to the whole thing, but as long as their isn't something risky or obscene that I missed out on hearing in the lyrics, this sounds at least strong enough to make the top 20 IMO. Let's not forget, Kacey is going to have LOTS of buzz around this new album era, so it could be kind of hard for radio to completely ignore her. Were also at a time where Country Radio is looking for the next era (last one was bro country), so something like this could just be the little engine that could. As for the song, I love it. I think this could be one of my favorite songs from her already. I love the message and I love the creativity of the chorus. The songwriting is extremely sharp, and I can't wait to hear the studio version.

Interesting song titles indeed. Merry Go Round, Follow Your Arrow, and now Biscuits. I hope Mercury really gets behind Kacey Musgraves for CD #2. If this was released in France, it would be called Croissants!

Highlight of 2015 thus far. I am so beyond ready for new Kacey music, it is unreal. I'm gonna try and hold off on listening to the song until the studio version is out though. We'll see how long that lasts!

Sounds like Follow Your Arrow 2 to me. Not necessarily a bad thing, cuz I loved Follow Your Arrow - but the sequel is never better than the original.

I saw her in concert one year ago and she played this at the end, along with another new song (forgot the name of it, but my friend and I actually liked the second one more).
At the time I definitely got a Dolly Parton vibe from the lyrics and style; but of course very anxious to hear the studio version.
Of course it has the solid songwriting and clever/intelligent lyrics Kacey is known for, but it didn't sound that radio friendly to me at the time. But I am hopeful, as dm2081 pointed out, that radio seems to be moving away from bro-country and will pick Kacey as one of their up and coming rare female staples at radio!

"There's a singalong chorus built into the studio version of Kacey Musgraves' "Biscuits". Not sure I would have made that choice but fine"

I haven't heard the song yet so I can't form an opinion, but it seems Kacey might be falling into sort of a rut of songs with the same theme. We've already had the top 10 "Merry Go 'Round" and two songs "Follow Your Arrow" and "The Trailer Song" that made quite a splash with listeners, so I don't necessarily see the need to drive home the message repeatedly unless there's some sort of unique spin or distinctive melody or production. I'm not saying this is any worse than the hundreds of bro-country songs released by format A-listers, but I do expect that this could potentially cause some radio programmers to lose interest in Kacey.

@daydrinker Kacey is very aware of the point you brought up. I saw her in concert two weeks ago, and as her intro to Biscuits she pretty much said "I realize it probably seems like I'm writing the same songs with the same message, and maybe I am, but I hope you'll stick with me through this one because I think it's an important message and I'm passionate about it."
