Chart News for May 16, 2012: Mother's Day Sales Help CountryBy: Matt BjorkeLast Updated: May 16, 2012 12:05 PM Mother’s Day Brings Strong Sales for Country Music Artists. Carrie Underwood leads 10 albums in the Top 31 of the SoundScan Top 200 Current Albums chart.Carrie Underwood was able to withstand the rolling tide that is Adele’s 9 million seller 21, and has sold 380,000+ copies of Blown Away in two weeks. It’s a strong two week open and immediately positions her as the second-best selling country album of 2012 (behind Lionel Richie). Lionel Richie’s Tuskegee ¾ Million Scanned!Already certified Platinum for sales (shipments) to stores in excess of one million, Lionel Richie’s Tuskegee has now scanned 751,000 copies to jump up to #3 on the SoundScan Top 200 Current Albums chart. Luke Bryan’s own Platinum album, tailgates & tanlines, continues to sell well and is the #3 country and #10 album in the USA. Rascal Flatts’ Changed moved 19k this week to bring their sales totals to nearly 250,000 sold. Eric Chruch’s Chief rounds out the Top 5 country albums this week and has now sold 794,000 albums. Lee Brice Hard 2 Love Sales Are StrongHard 2 Love is sort of a misnomer so far since Lee Brice finds his record still inside the Top 10 of the SoundScan Top Current Country Albums. Right behind Lee on the chart is Jason Aldean with the still-strong selling My Kinda Party, an album with 5 consecutive #1 hits (on either Mediabase or Billboard singles charts). “Fly Over States” is the latest - and last - hit from the album. Kip Moore’s “Somethin’ ‘Bout A Truck” is close to becoming a #1 hit and the song is the lead single from Up All Night, a record which has a deluxe edition available at iTunes and Walmart. Lady Antebellum’s Own The Night is moving onto another single (“Wanted You More”) and sits at #9 this week. Blake Shelton is at #10 (#31 Top 200) with Red River Blue. This album is on single #4 now with “Over” following the previous three singles and hoping to make Blake’s #1 single string (now six-strong) going. Brantley Gilbert, Pat Green, Four The Record Lead NotablesGilbert’s Halfway To Heaven is the #11 best-selling country record this week while Miranda Lambert’s Four The Record has sold 548,000 copies and will soon be releasing the third single on the record as the recent #1 “Over You” is sliding down the charts. Scotty McCreery has returned to the Top 15 albums with Clear As Day. Pat Green’s Sugar Hill Records debut Songs We Wish We’d Written II debuts with 7,000 sold while Dierks Bentley’s Home returns to the Top 20. He’s now moved 145,000 albums. Rounding out the notable albums this week is Hunter Hayes with his debut album Hunter Hayes. The “Waned” and “Storm Warning” singer continues his upward momentum this week (he only ‘dropped’ on the charts due to new album releases). Other notable albums this week include The Band Perry’s The Band Perry (8,000 sold this week) Toby Keith’s Clancy’s Tavern (5,000), Taylor Swift’s Speak Now (5,000), Eli Young Band’s Life At Best (3,000), Jake Owen’s Barefoot Blue Jean Night (3,000), and Chris Young’s Neon (3,000). While it’s mostly from the appearance on The Voice at this point, the fact that the single sold 103,000 copies before becoming an official single bodes well for it to becoming yet another Gold-selling single for the superstar trio. Eden’s Edge, another exciting vocal trio, who have their debut album set to be released in June, arrives at #70 this week with over 5,800 sold. www.roughstock.com/blog/country-chart-news-top-30-digital-singles-the-week-of-may-18-2012

Lionel Richie 'Tuskegee' Is Country's Top Seller for First Half of 2012Posted Jul 5th 2012 2:00PM by Stephen L. Betts / CommentsThis week's Billboard country album chart features a repeat showing of Kenny Chesney's Welcome to the Fishbowl at the No. 1 spot. With 255,000 copies of the superstar's album sold thus far (in just two weeks), according to Nielsen Soundscan, the album is already among the 10 best-selling country discs of the first six months of 2012. Kenny is also featured on the year's top-selling disc, too, having contributed guest vocals to pop superstar Lionel Richie's star-packed duets collection, Tuskegee. Already platinum-certified, signifying sales of one million copies, Tuskegee also features Lionel collaborating with Shania Twain, Jason Aldean, Little Big Town, Billy Currington, Darius Rucker, Rascal Flatts, Jennifer Nettles and others on some of his most popular hit songs. It's the iconic singer-songwriter's first album to reach platinum status in the U.S. since 2003, and the first million-selling collection of newly-recorded material since 1986's Dancing on the Ceiling. The year's second-best-selling country album so far is Carrie Underwood's Blown Away, now in its ninth week of release and registering sales of just over 600,000 copies since its debut. It's the sixth best-selling album overall, and the only one by a female country artist to place within the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 at mid-year. On the country chart, Lady Antebellum ( Own the Night, No. 4) and the Band Perry (No. 8) are also among the year's best-sellers so far. Two of 2011's biggest albums are hanging tough in 2012. Luke Bryan's Tailgates and Tanlines is the year's third-best-selling country disc, with Jason Aldean's My Kinda Party at No. 5. Luke has been around for 47 weeks (and holds at No. 2 on the country chart this week), while Jason, who is expected to release a brand-new album later this year, has logged an impressive 87 weeks on the charts with his Party, the top-seller of 2011 and the reigning CMA Album of the Year. Tim McGraw's Emotional Traffic is the No. 10 best-seller in country for the year thus far, while Rascal Flatts' Changed is No. 7 and Eric Church's Chief is No. 6. Among the highly-anticipated albums due in the second half of 2012: Zac Brown Band's Uncaged, new discs from Keith Urban, Gary Allan, LeAnn Rimes, Lee Ann Womack and Little Big Town's latest, featuring the smash summer hit, "Pontoon." Lee Brice's "Hard To Love" has been way ahead of the airplay chart since the beginning and it continues to pick up steam. He'll be Gold in no time and it seems only a matter of when, not if, he'll go Platinum. The 2 mega-hits "Drunk On You" and "Springsteen" are marching toward 2x Platinum. Meanwhile, newcomers Dustin Lynch and Jana Kramer continue to do well--Jana has just crossed the Gold threshold, while Dustin is only 2 weeks away. Florida Georgia Line continues their great start, while the recent #1 from the Eli Young Band, "Even If It Breaks Your Heart", closes in on Platinum and Josh Turner's current top 10 hit "Time Is Love" is only about 1 week away from Gold status. From today's Roughstock article: Taylor Swift dominates The Top 30 Digital Country Singles chart this week with 9 singles inside the chart but only 8 of them from RED and the title track, “Begin Again” and “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” are absent from the chart. Five of the Top 10 singles this week belong to Taylor Swift with “I Already Do,” “All Too Well,” “Stay Stay Stay” landing at #’s 1, 3, and 5 respectively. Standing tall at #2 is Florida Georgia Line with “Cruise” and at #4 is Carrie Underwood with “Blown Away.” With “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together not on this chart, it’s possible Carrie Underwood could take #1 on the Top Country Songs chart which charts all streaming, sales and airplay into one chart. ... www.roughstock.com/blog/country-chart-news-the-top-30-digital-singles-the-week-of-october-31-2012-it-s-all-about-taylor-swift

Grammar error. Should say thousand, not thousandth. Thousandth is 3 places after the decimal.
