Both are likely to be career defining album for these pop superstars. Which is better?

1989 wins this one. Both are great albums but Taylor edges this one out.

Any album with "Since U Been Gone" and "Because of You" >>>>> everything else.

Don't even need to let time tell this one. "Since U Been Gone" and "Breakaway" were generation-defining, and both "Because of You" and "Behind These Hazel Eyes" were groundbreaking. Barring maybe "Shake it Off" (and even that doesn't touch "Since U Been Gone"), nothing from 1989 has achieved that kind of societal impact the way Breakaway did, and I can't see anything else from Swift's set doing it, either.
That, and the album is more cohesive and simply better. Both are great records, but Kelly wins in spades.
