Will she sue them if the music cuts her off? She'll write a song about it. Oh man, what a great original joke!!

YAAAS COLUMBIAN QUEEN SOFIA VERGARA I can't at Pitbull using Sofia Vergara as a nautch girl. She is an A-list celebrity queen. He tried it.

Shocked that Kendrick didn't win AOTY, but happy Taylor got it. Ideally, the General Category will be spread out like this:
AOTY: Kendrick ROTY: Taylor SOTY: Ed BNA: Meghan
So everyone will be happy. But oh well.

I can't at this white mediocrity being awarded AOTY twice. Why does "white" have to even be a word included? Not everything in this world is a race issue. "1989" was critically well received and sold millions upon millions more than its fellow nominees. While you personally may find it "mediocre", the fact is that the majority of people's whose opinions are of importance (buying public + critics) found it quite good. I don't see why people just can't give props where props are due.

Well, that was interesting. Kendrick won five, but no general wins - not entirely surprised about that. I genuinely hope there isn't backlash over it though (either toward the Grammys or to Taylor for beating him, because for all we know other nominees got more votes than he did as well). Well, it's a pattern when it comes to rap/hip-hop. Just look at Kanye and Eminem who consistently sweep the Rap categories and have critically acclaimed, popular albums and songs that lose in the big categories. Oh, no doubt. I think we've had this conversation before, deeeeeep in this thread somewhere lol. R&B and hip-hop stay shafted and will probably stay that way. Taylor should not get any backlash for it though, because it's not her fault that Kendrick did not win. What's she supposed to do, give it back? Pull a Macklemore and offer up some fake ass 'you should have won'? I'd hate her more for that tbh. The fault lies entirely at the Grammy voters' feet, but I also feel some kind of way about people raising hell about it because...well because of a lot of reasons, I guess. But mainly because you hit the nail on the head - it's genre discrimination - but when I wake up tomorrow morning it's going to be a bunch of people screaming 'RACIST!!!' when honestly, this isn't directly about race. And other people will also sense that this assertion is wrong, but they won't know how to articulate why it's wrong, and it will quickly devolve into a bunch of stupid on the internet. And anyway, race relations weren't going to be magically resolved if Kendrick had won. I see why the betters had their chips on Taylor - hip-hop rarely wins, country wins just as little, and The Weeknd was so obviously filler that he didn't even warrant mention. That only left AS as the 'real' competition and I guess they just weren't big enough, or the Grammys felt it was time to go back to a pop winner since the last winner was alternative/rock.

Still feel like it was too soon for Taylor to win AOTY twice. My opinion is it should've gone to Kendrick.

I mean, I knew the Grammy voters were a bit retarded, but were they not aware of the level of acclaim that Kendrick got? And yet they still passed over it???

Her voice wasn't at her best but WTF with the sound. It happens every year. It happens more often at the Grammies than at any other award show. Get your s**t together! Pretty sure Portnow cleared that up. Their sound techs are weak from starvation.

Also I'm bummed that they didn't pull some sort of tribute to all of Antonin Scalia's biggest hits.

The whole show was quite messy. Lots of technical difficulties and weird transitions between segments.

For a commercial pop album 1989 is dope!! I own all the 2016 AOTY except the Weekend and Chris Stapleton. All of the nominees make different music. It's hard to compare quality. It really is subjective. it comes down to what you prefer. I can tell you had DAngelo been nominated for AOTY I would have been all about him winning because R&B is my favorite. Then pop. Then jazz. Then hip hop. And only country of its a country pop act.
I think Taylor's flawless execution of this era and full transition to mega pop star helped tip the win toward her. Yeah her vocals are average, but the production and songs were really good and catchy. And it got a lot of critical acclaim. Sure Kendrick got more. But his era was quiet. It started off with a bang, but the momentum didn't carry. If he had a bigger error he would have carried the award home.

On second viewing I like the Sam/Carrie performance a lot more. "Heartbeat" in particular was great, and they had great chemistry. I also like how they worked part of "Take Your Time" back into "Heartbeat."
Demi Lovato was decent, but she always seems like she's trying so hard. It isn't effortless/natural like with truly great singers.

Off the top of my head, Norah Jones and Allison Krauss both have two Grammy's for Album of the Year.

But oh well. I'd imagine Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars wouldn't have been happy... And "Uptown Funk" was by far the most deserving of the Big Four winners. It was on such a different level as a recording. Blank Space's biggest strength lies in its lyrics. It was a Song Of The Year or bust for that one.

Ed already got Pop performance, and he still got lots of chance in the future. My point is Kendrick got the AOTY and Taylor isn't shut out from Big Four.
