"Don't Look Down" will serve as the lead single from Martin's upcoming debut album. RCA apparently sees this as an opportunity to keep Usher on the radio while his own album has been delayed until the end of the year.
I know there's some backlash for EDM Usher, but this is a hit.

I really like this. And I cannot imagine Pop without EDM Usher.

This isn't his single though, its Martin Garrix's. Pretty sure Usher wont be returning to EDM on his own, like the rest of the R&B stars that have previously done that.

He's been doing it since 2010 now, so it's not like it was just a passing fad in his career. L4M was about half EDM inspired stuff, so he didn't pull back last era. Like it or not, it's basically become a part of his sound. I think him doing this basically proves he's not done with EDM yet. And when he does it well, I love it personally (Climax, Without You, DJ, Euphoria, etc). Gives him some diversity. He just has to watch out that it doesn't get too generic ala More, Scream, or Numb. Also this gave me kind of a generic vibe on first listen.

Pretty good! It's catchy, and it just has that spring/summer hit feel!

Like it or not, it's basically become a part of his sound. But unfortunately the R&B/EDM hybrid of his last era turned out to be a harsh learning lesson. I do think we'll see him pulling back from it when he launches his own album. This is true too, but I think we'll see him satiating his thirst through collaborations and remixes rather than his own album's material. I also think it's cool that Usher keeps up with trends within EDM, as "Don't Look Down" isn't cheesy electropop that was prevalent in 2010, but instead it sees him dabbing into tropical house.

I like it but don't love it. Maybe I'm slightly getting sick of some EDM music but I could do without all the breakdowns in between the verses/chorus's. However I've liked almost all of his other dance stuff including what some consider "generic".

Usher's vocals sold me on the song from the start, but the video really amplified my like of it. It's clever, fun, and entertaining.I also thought it was a humorous way to poke fun at Garrix's young age since most of his listeners are likely older than he is. Just wish Usher was involved!

I'm not so into it yet, but I think this could grow on me. Anyway, kind of interesting that this is Martin Garrix's second release to the CHR/Pop format after "Animals".
Yesterday, the music video was unveiled through the YouTube Music Awards 2015, but there's a twist: There are two music videos, which each of them is from the perspective of the boy and the girl. • Watch the Towel Boy version here. • Watch the Towel Girl version here. Also, the BTS was uploaded on Martin Garrix's YouTube channel and you can watch it here.

Kind of bland upon first listen, but I could see this growing on me as well. I love Usher's voice, so it definitely helps. Have to admit, I never understood the fuss about "Animals", as it sounded really generic too me and lacked any vocals.

It didnt need any vocals, a lot of the time they actually ruin dance tracks.

The way Usher uses the inflections in his voice on the delivery of the lyrics in the verses is so good to me for some reason.

I'm uber impressed with Usher's vocal runs all over again each time I hear this, which has now been a lot. He soars so effortlessly here!

Finally, a song with Usher singing in that I can actually stand to listen to. This is so good and I hope this can go high. Who knows, maybe this can out peak Martin Garrix's other hit "Animals".
