"35 mph Town" is in light rotation on every single station spinning it except one, and that one is a pretty big station -- KPLX in Dallas, which have accounted for 50 spins and over 900k of Toby's audience. If you take them away, "35 mph Town" would have roughly 600 spins and 1.8 million in audience, which would take Toby out of the MB and Billboard top 50. What's sad is that no other station has accounted for more than 100k of "35 mph Town's" audience and the second spin leader (KUPL in Portland, Oregon) has allocated all of this song's 19 spins this past week, to overnight hours.
I seriously doubt this lasts 'til the October album drop date (its working on week #11 now), so I'm assuming Toby throws one more single out there by that October 9th date. He might have cut a few more songs with the album being delayed which could result in another single contender but make no mistake, name recognition is the primary reason why people will buy 35 mph Town when it does in fact get released.

For what it's worth, 6 spot jump to #42 on Billboard.

For what it's worth, 6 spot jump to #42 on Billboard. There's a medium market station here in Austin that plays this daily, and I have to say I've really grown to like this one. I'd really like to see this crack the top 20 for Toby, but that isn't going to happen. It is long past time for country radio to split into a different model.

I've been hearing this on the radio a lot, more than I ever heard "Drunk Americans." I really wish it were doing a lot better on the charts.

Does it look like 35 MPH Town will ever make the top 40 on the chart? Yes it does as a matter of fact. If "35 mph Town" can stay ahead of A Thousand Horses by tomorrow's MB update, then that means Toby will be at #41 with Canaan going recurrent and Reba should fall below by tomorrow's evening update as well. Toby looks to make the Billboard top 40 in the next week or two as well, sitting at #42 there. "35 mph Town" has gained 60 spins and 350k in audience this week and Toby's chart run is looking more like a debut single than an artist who has been at radio for well over 20 years, lol. I think a top 40 peak is all this will accomplish as Toby's better radio days are clearly behind him. If he didn't have name recognition, this song would be doing anything since Show Dog is promoting it. Well, perhaps a top 30 peak can happen if they can get some steady conversions as the weeks wear on but that will remain to be seen.

The good news for this song is that it hasn't given up the fight for airplay and made it all the way to #41 this past week on MB. The bad news for Toby is that "35 mph Town" has been leaped by not 2 or 3, but 6 songs over the course of the past five days ("Gonna", "Drunk Dial", "Top Of The World", "Strip It Down", "Blue Bandana", "Tomorrow Tonight"). The result is Toby sitting at #47 on the rolling chart and unless he can find a way to get re-pass Craig, he'll suffer at least a four spot drop -- maybe more depending on if Steven Tyler and/or the Cadillac Three can pass him by Sunday.
"35 mph Town" increased 13 spins and lost 100k in audience the past five days and has gotten zero conversions this week. Like I mentioned earlier, KPLX in Dallas has really been helping this song out; without them, Toby's audience would decrease by nearly 900k and he would lose roughly 50 spins -- which would knock him out of the top 50 all together.

"35 mph Town" lost another 53 spins and 70k in audience this week. After climbing to #41 on MB two weeks ago, Toby now finds himself at #46 without a bullet this week. This song is just not getting any help whatsoever from anybody other than KPLX in Dallas and I don't see this one getting any higher.

"35 mph Town" is just about finished. Toby's lost 73 spins and 300k in audience this week and has fallen to #49 on the MB rolling chart. Toby managed to work his way up to #41 a couple weeks back but since then, he just hasn't gained any audience and has gotten zero adds the past two weeks. KPLX in Dallas is the one station that's holding this song up (over 900k of Toby's total audience -- roughly 1/3 of this song's MB audience, lol). If they decide to cut "35 mph Town's" spins, then this song will go away fairly quick.
Simply put, Show Dog just could not get any conversions from the light rotation that every station spinning this one had it in.

Putting WATZ on Billboard's panel could've fixed that. They play this one several times a day. They have such a weird relationship with Toby Keith: if he has a new song out, they'll play the snot out of it, but as soon as it goes recurrent, it's like that song never existed. They even played "Shut Up and Stop the Macho Posturing Already" a lot. But I can't even remember the last time I heard them play "As Good as I Once Was", and I've heard "Made in America" so sparingly that I managed to completely forget how the song even went for about a year.
The sole exception is of all songs, "Stays in Mexico", which still shows up at least once a week.

They even played "Shut Up And Hold On" 20 times a week. Anyway, "35 mph Town" lost another 21 spins and 30k in audience and officially falls to #48 on MB this week (without a bullet for the second consecutive week). Show Dog is still promoting this but radio is showing that they're just about done with this song.

As expected (at least for me), Toby and Show Dog had another ad in Aircheck this evening that pontificated the total passion this song is receiving from its spinners.
Unfortunately there's zero way this gets any higher than it already has and Show Dog should just give this fight up. I know Toby's album is coming out in October but they should just get another single out there since stations are ready to let go of "35 mph Town." Toby lost nearly 100 spins and over 400k in audience this week on MB and it didn't really have a rebound today as this song basically broke even in audience and spins. Toby should have just gotten his album out last year when "Drunk Americans" was charting since he cannot achieve a top 20 single anymore and his name recognition is plenty to have solid album sales.

I'd be happy to see another song but perhaps they didn't want to pre-release 3 songs from the album? Or it's a timing thing and they want another song coming out a little later.
I had the impression that the album was not really done when Drunk Americans was out as a single. After these last two songs it would be nice to see a more mid-/up-tempo song, however it would do radio-wise.
Big Toby fan, but 35 MPH Town didn't connect all that much with me. As a choice for radio I never really got it - it seemed a bit slow and the lyrics a little hard to follow as to the theme/message.

For what it's worth, I'm still hearing this daily here in Austin...but that doesn't mean much across the board. This from a station that is still spinning "Let It Go" by George Strait and Ronnie Dunn's "Ain't No Trucks In Texas." Everything (including radio) is better down here in Texas...the rest of the country just needs to get on board lol.
I really like this song, but the writing is on the wall for this one and maybe even for Toby's career at radio.
