Love this. The melody is so relaxing, and his voice is great as usual. Big summer hit right here.

Love the rupture and change of pace at about 1:40; this is fresh and new. :) Don't see this as messy, at all; it perfectly suits Brett Eldredge and his rascal sort of charm. :) The only thing that I'm missing is country instrumentation which could have been incorporated here easily; but I'm digressing and repeating myself. And each time he sings "crazy", I jump up a little, IMO it's too similar to Gnarls Barkley's chorus of "Crazy". That nurse, though, is a total Blink-182 blast from the past.

When the song starts it's pretty promising but then I hear the production on the chorus and that's where it goes over a cliff. I don't like the production on this at all - like really bad. I echo kw9461 and Ten Pound Hammer, that the production is all over the map and it's just messy. It's unfortunate cause I like the melody and Brett's voice but I just can't with that production. Brett makes this song better than it should be so I'll leave room for it to grow on me but after hearing this, his best single by far is still "Raymond". The production was purposely "messy" for the fit with the "Lose my mind" narrative of the lyrics. It's clearly not as "messy" or "cluttered" as other recent hits so there is that. Eh, I don't really buy that. I do agree that the style of song (the way it was written and the way it was produced) was made to fit the song's lyrics but just because it's a song about the narrator "losing his mind", doesn't mean the track has to be so cluttered. I don't know what the "real Brett" is , and I won't pretend to, but after teasing me with songs like "Raymond' and "One Mississippi", I've been somewhat disappointed with his songs thus far (especially singles), save for "Mean To Me" which I thought was lyrically well written.

Many people were saying before the song was even released that the lyrics were "basic." Many people also said that the production works to make up for that. In the case of, "Lose My Mind" I agree. I actually like this song. While I agree with jhomes87 to some degree... about the "true Brett" feeling on songs like "One Mississippi", "Signs"...etc. He does those type of songs really well. "Lose My Mind" plays into the Brett Eldredge 'entertainer' aspect. This song is up beat, and very much gives the listening audience a taste of what his live shows are really like. I agree that in terms of the song overall, it is safe. I hope Brett sticks around for many years to come. If he can strip down a few of the newer songs, like the ones stated above, he'll be good. While I don't hate the production on the chorus...I don't love it. It's not bad, but it's not the best. Where I am disappointed is the lyrics. Brett is a great songwriter (we know that), this song is very generic in terms of lyrics. He can pen a killer ballad. Hope to see that on the new album.

Wow I really enjoy this. Especially the cool groove in the breakdown in the bridge. Brett is probably my favorite male vocalist in the genre and this certainly helped maintain that opinion, especially with the falsetto note at the very end of the song. This'll be another hit for him, I'm sure.

after listening to the live clip I thought this was pretty vanilla, but after watching the official video I love this! really like the way the song changes up.

This one definitely got the mini iHeartMedia debut as it makes it's debut at #50 on the MB rolling chart today with 598 spins and nearly 5.0 million in audience.

Yes this does nothing for me either. To bolster what others have said above, muddy production, goofy lyrics and general trend chasing ruins this for me. So is R&B Country going to replace Bro-Country? The only thing I would add is it sounds like they are filtering his vocals through some unneeded software. This guys got a gorgeous voice , but I can barely tell it in this track .

So is R&B Country going to replace Bro-Country? It seems that that storm is coming, yes. We've already seen the impact starting with Sam Hunt and Jason Aldean, and now you see artists like Thomas Rhett, Eli Young Band, and even *gulp* Gary Allan pushing this trend... As this trend continues to spread, I see myself growing more and more distant from the mainstream, good God what is the genre coming to?!?

"Lose My Mind" debuts at #48 on MB this week. And it'll be top 40 on Billboard, I'm thinking probably all the way up at #35, coming in just ahead of Mickey Guyton, Thomas Rhett, Lady A, Big & Rich, and Dan + Shay. It's gonna be very close though with those songs in the 35-40 spots...maybe only 300k or so separating #40 from #35.

There is a full page article from Billboard's mid-week update about how Heather Morgan, Ross Copperman and Brett Eldredge came to write and record "Lose My Mind." Apparently there have been a couple of additions to the writing credits with CeeLo Green and Danger Mouse, plus two film composers (Windmills on twitter first pointed this out this afternoon). The first line of the second verse "You make me crazy" - five notes that are identical to Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy." Billboard

I don't pretend to know who the "real" Brett Eldredge is, but "Lose My Mind" has surprisingly little personality for a song that is about becoming unhinged thanks to love/lust. I think the chorus sinks it -- it is too lacking in rhythm in comparison to the verses, and the melody is entirely too contained. A song with this point of view should escalate from one part to the next (as the bridge does here), but the chorus goes down in energy from the verses. I agree with what a lot of you have already said about the lyrics -- the concept of going mad with love/lust has been done many times, and this song adds nothing fresh to that conceit. There's too much talking about how crazy he feels, and not enough showing. The whole combination winds up feeling a bit forced and not especially credible to me as a result.
I would have hoped that Brett Eldredge would have taken this opportunity to make a case for why he won the CMA New Artist of the Year award over concurrent radio breakthroughs -- it seemed to me that he had a bit more respectability as a better singer and a writer of a bit more imagination and substance (his singles notwithstanding), although I think his likability probably helped his cause too. But there really isn't enough space in "Lose My Mind" for Brett to show that he has a natural soul in his voice that the likes of Thomas Rhett and Cole Swindell can't approach, the song makes no case for Brett as an interesting lyricist, and if anything, the video makes him less likable, if only because he resorted to the "sexed up tart" presentation for the sake of views. I can imagine the song becoming a radio hit for him, but it's not the kind of song that would make me want to invest in an album, absent the promise of more interesting tracks.

I get the arguments against this song but it just clicks with me. Call me crazy (haha) but I quite like it. It has a nice groove.

I love this song. I don't like much of Brett's music, but the melody of this is great and I really don't find the production bad or messy at all Hope it does well. I have heard it on the radio a couple times.

This song actually has an interpolation of Gnarles Barkley's "Crazy" single (which itself has an interpolation of orchestration from Spaghetti Westerns from Ennio Morricone). What's funny about that is I didn't really notice it but on "Crash And Burn" from Thomas Rhett, I immediately thought they needed to add interpolation credits for "Chain Gang" from Sam Cooke (the chants in that song are direct 'replicas').

Right, 7 writers are credited here, but originally it was just credited to Brett, Ross, and Heather. However, because the 2nd verse of "Lose My Mind" borrows a line from Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy", Brett and his co-writers gave credit where credit was due. Gnarls Barkley is a hip-hop duo that consists of producer Danger Mouse (Brian Burton) and Cee Lo Green. The duo wrote "Crazy", a #2 hit on the Hot 100 back in 2006, with the Reverberi brothers. According to the article at the link below, Brett and his co-writers always planned to offer a percentage of the royalties to Cee Lo Green and his co-writers. radio.com/2015/05/04/brett-eldredge-lose-my-mind-gnarls-barkley/

I looked all over for the names of Callaway, Burton, and the 2 Reverberi's, now I know their names.

rbundy1987 jhomes87 You do realize I posted the story of the added credits to CeeLo Green and Danger Mouse plus two film composers earlier in the thread? Lol ;) Granted, I for some reason never got around to editing the first post. For that I apologize as it must have slipped my mind.

Yes, I did see that post, I was just trying to explain to rbundy1987 that the reason the opening post only listed 3 writers was because that's who was initially credited when you created the thread...it was only afterward that they went in and added the "Crazy" songwriters. The main reason why I wanted to link to the radio.com article was because it had that quote from Copperman, but I didn't see that Billboard had that same quote as well.

Sorry if my post came off a bit smug. Haha, sabre14, smug? Nah, I know that's not who you are :) Your post was fine. I'm still not really feeling this Brett Eldredge song by the way...it does absolutely nothing for me. And it's unfortunate, too, because I really like Brett. He's got a great voice and he seems like a great guy, and I really want to root for him, but I've found all of his hit singles to be mediocre at best. The only ones I've truly enjoyed (and still enjoy listening to) are "Raymond" and "It Ain't Gotta Be Love".

Not sure if it's okay to post this but Brett partnered with AT&T uverse to release a song called "Fire" that will be on his new album for free. He announced it today at CMA Fan Fest and on the online stream for the interview/announcement. If it's not allowed, feel free to delete this. I'm not sure if it's still working but text BrettATT to 50505. It'll send you a text back with a link to the site to enter your email address. They'll then email you a link for the free download.
Upon listen, I think I like Fire a lot more than Lose My Mind. Lose My Mind has grown on me though since it was released.

I really like this trend lately of male singers with soulful voices and thick production. Thomas Rhett, Sam Hunt, and Brett Eldredge are all demonstrating that to some extent in their latest singles, and I think it's refreshing to see something "different" that's starting to take off and push bro-country away.

This song has continued to hit its stride on the charts. On Billboard Kenny looks to go recurrent and since Keith and Jake Owen aren't threats yet I think Brett should comfortably land in the Top 20. Congrats Brett. This song is a guilty pleasure.
