It's well documented in other threads that I loooove the song.
But I just watched the video for the first time. Wtf is that? Weird.

Desire wasn't top 20 on UK on its release, i know the UK and USA market are different, but frankly i think it's too risky for an unknown act to chose a song a lot less successful in their home country only because they think the other one fit better the new market.
I know there are cases, i remember All saints releasing I know were is at before Never ever, but generally you go with something it smashed and then release the other song.

Yes! Absolutely 100% yes. Make this smash!
Years & Years deserve pop radio airplay. I hope this sees great success. I would like to have seen "Desire" get a release (and maybe it can follow up?) but this is equally exciting!

Per the album press release, TV promo will include Seth Meyers on 4/2 (curious about this date as that show's musical performances are usually on Monday and Wednesday) and a Last Call with Carson Daly feature on 4/21.

"Lights" says hi. :) Lights wasn't Ellie's first single in the USA, she released Starry Eyes first. There are a lot of songs that fail in one country and do well in other, and even when both have success there are differences. In europe and UK Ace of base biggest hit was All that she wants, in the USA All that she wants was big but their biggest hit was The sign. The script released their big european hit The man who can be moved first, it failed. Breakeven became big, a song that it wasn't top 20 on UK. That happens all the time, but that's not what i was talking about, i was talking about chosing a song less successful instead of an smash hit as first release in the USA based on thinking the sound fits better. Desire could end being a bigger hit in the USA, but that's not the question

"King" sounds like a bigger US hit than "Desire" anyway. Ideally Y&Y will break through and each will have its time though.

This is okay. I like the production, but I'm not too keen on the vocals. Too shaky for me. I can see it growing on me, though. Lights wasn't Ellie's first single in the USA, she released Starry Eyes first. I'm not sure where you got that information. Maybe it was a small promo single or something? But "Lights" was definitely her first full-fledged American single with a push to radio. Oddly enough, its adds date the same week as Demi Lovato's "Give Your Heart a Break" (both took 8 months to peak).

This is fantastic, and I hope it's a hit for them.
I don't really know how well they will sell the song in a promotional setting though, every performance I've seen of the lead singer's has been very weak.

Since the lead singer is gay, I'm all for this to be 2015's "West End Girls" (Pet Shop Boys).
Their performance of this on the mtvU Woodie Awards was fantastic.

Since the lead singer is gay Tho NGL, both the lyrics of this and "Desire" did make me wonder.

Olly seemed gay to me but who am I to judge? I must have missed the memo when he actually stated it?

My roommate has been obsessed with this for weeks now. It's interesting, but I'm already burnt on it from having heard it so much already.

best song of the year so far for me! i knew the vocalist was gay the first time i saw him, just as in the case of sam smith! 2015 seems to be a great year for music with james bay, hozier and so many others

This shall pave the way for "Take Shelter" to become the massive hit it was meant to be.

The vocals are nothing special but that main melody is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard.
