I thought you liked 45S...or did it burn on you? I never liked it. Oops. Sorry. For some reason, I thought you did. Never mind then, LOL.

This is urban as hell. Definitely will not be pushed on pop. I'm not sure if I like it or not, but it's exceptionally well done for what it's going for. Wow! This is so hot and ratchet! I see this being huge during Spring break which is coming up for many in the next few weeks. This is perfect timing. If they wanted a spring break anthem, it should have been released a month ago. Most colleges take their spring breaks in March, and quite a lot in February too (WTF?). Very few are actually in April.

This is beyond bad. She should get back to studio and start this album from scratch

A pathetic and tuneless mess. Does not even qualify as music.

Yep, this is horrible. Not as bad as FFS, but horrible enough. She's 0/2 for me this era.

Yeah definitely not pop worthy. Great for Urban though.
I really really hope they have something else for pop, preferably something not produced by Kanye West.

Blah! All I heard was shouting and croaking, not impressed. 0/2 for me as well. She really needs to ditch Kanye he's making her too experimental (aka crap).

This is not experimental. Hell, this isn't forward thinking at all (what?). If you're listening to urban, it's a carbon copy of everything trendy on the format right now.
I can't get into it-- tried, but no dice. It's not bad, but there's nothing really compelling about it. That said, this is gonna be that song that comes on at the club when I'm feeling myself a bit too much and I'll probably lose my s**t. Sober tho? Nah.

Yeah this is not experimental at all. The production is maybe a tiny bit more original than most of the music that's been on urban for the past year but overall it's pretty much the same thing I've been hearing. It's an alright track tho. It'll be fun in a club but she's done this sound before and way better (see "Hard"). I'm not impressed. Maybe with further listens but idk it's a little embarrassing yet catchy at the same time.
What's irking me is she keeps saying she wants this album to be classic-sounding and timeless meanwhile she's making music that is almost a carbon copy of everything else on urban right now- and not even the good ones. "I call the shots like BA BA BA" yawn ugh.

I misused "experimental", I don't mean the genre or forward-thinking music I just mean too far off from what we expect from her.

Yeah this is bad. Slightly better than "FourFiveSeconds", but that's not saying much.

I think the first single was described as experimental, there was really no hint/details for the second single.

Rihanna is clearly not giving a crap this era and is just creating whatever music she wants to create. Which I guess is pretty much in line with the rest of her career, but usually she has a couple of radio ready singles to keep her name in the game.
I don't blame her, though. If I was 26 years old and had the money she does, I'd do the same thing. I think its smart that she is clearly sending the message she's not trying to have a pop hit. You can't call it an underpermer when it wasn't supposed to perform in the first place. Not that this is some experimental song, but it is definitely not second pop single material.

Looooooooove this. She has like 30 monster hits already and she's free to record anything she wants. She has nothing left to prove and serving ratchet music is clearly where her heart is at and I dig it. Honestly, this and 45S scream Rihanna more than anything else she has ever released. It's incredible how far she's come and I couldn't be more proud of her. Well done Rih!
On a side note, is it me or is her delivery on this very Kat Dahlia-like? Funny how Kat has been described as a rougher Rih and now Rih sounds like impersonating Kat. Also, too bad this will murder Tinashe's All Hands On Deck's chances as the background beat is almost identical and radio will undoubtedly favor this in case they have to choose between the 2.

This bad, one of her weakest singles so far. Too urban. 45S is ironically miles better

The lyrics are the best part of the song. Too bad the writing is the least important part of a song for me.
Let's not act like this isn't radio friendly, though. It is, just not on the Pop format. Urban will play the living shit out of this.

DC's pop station Hot 99.5 played his today during their "Test Drive" segment. The response to it was universally negative. This is going to have awful callout scores (at least on Pop radio).

Eh it's just alright. Nothing too special about it, especially with such an awesome title. Don't see this being that big, it's not that catchy.

It has been trending all day too in the US. There's been a lot of hype surrounding this song after it came out.

I have been trying to figure out ALL DAY who Rihanna was reminding me of (especially the way her voice turns on the 'knock me off the to-o-op' part). Thank you! Kind of ironic; AHOD would probably do better than this if it pushed toward pop. not that it makes much difference, I doubt RCA is going to put much money or effort behind a third Tinashe single at any format :(
