Kid Rock - "First Kiss" Writers: R.J. Ritchie (Kid Rock) and Marlon Young Impact Date: April 27Label: Top Dog Records/Warner Bros. Records/WEA Promotion Source: R&R Going For AddsMusic Video:
"First Kiss" is finally getting a push to country radio! Kid Rock signed a deal with Warner Bros. Records' Nashville division, and the WEA team will be handling radio promo for "First Kiss". A few of Kid Rock's recent singles -- including "Care" with Angaleena Presley, "Collide" with Sheryl Crow, and "Born Free" -- were released to country radio and were promoted by Bigger Picture Group (BPG has since shuttered). Kid Rock's multi-format and international hit "All Summer Long" peaked at #4 on Billboard Country Airplay back in 2008, and of course he scored a "modern-day classic" type of hit back in late 2002/early 2003: "Picture", his duet with Sheryl Crow, which peaked at #21 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart. "First Kiss" has peaked at #27 on Billboard's AC chart, #29 on HAC, #6 on Hot Rock Songs, and #16 on Mainstream Rock.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Kid Rock is my least favorite thing ever to happen to music so I wish he would stay away from Country music. If I could choose one song to forever erase from my memory and have it disappear from existence, it would be "All Summer Long".

Like, really good. It sounds like a perfect fit for country radio. I've been blasting this one for the last couple of months.

still more country than Taylor Swift. Still more country than half the country chart. I dare you to go to any thread in the country forum for a song by Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, Parmalee, Cole Swindell, etc and say: "Boy, this guy/these guys is/are a big reason as to why country music is as great as it is right now."

I'll attempt to listen to it, but he's just one of those artists that I just despise so much that there's no digging out of the hole he's already in in my mind

Awesome. One of my favorite songs on the radio. I've always been a Kid Rock fan. "Only God Knows Why" was a classic, the guy is very talented.

My station played All Summer Long endlessly....I hated the Warren Zevon rip off. And I knew nothing of Kid Rock.
But someone ripped off a CD of Born Free and gave it to me, telling me I should listen to it-and it was really good. For some reason I thought this guy was a heavy metal screamer, but the music was great with good lyrics-very well done. I also thought he was a very good singer with an interesting voice and harmonized very well with the various women singers on the disc.
Being of the 'Tom Petty' generation-I LOVE this song. Nothing spectacular for lyrics; just very well done and a nice nostalgic song-it is kind of the Rock version of Kenny Cheney's easy listening American Kids, IMO. It would have been played on Rock radio back when I was growing up along with John Mellencamp and Tom Petty, but it has a place on today's country radio.

I've loved this song since I first heard it a few months back. GREAT fit for country radio...would love to see a radio edit to shorten it up < 4:00.

I admit that the song itself is pretty good lyrically and I'd probably enjoy it with a different vocalist attached to it, but there's just something about Kid Rock's voice that irritates the hell out of me. I'm also not a big fan of rock music (which is why I also tend to not enjoy Jason Aldean & Brantley Gilbert's rock-infused singles) so the production wasn't enjoyable to me either. I'm praying for this not to succeed, but it is catchy and I'm sure many will probably really enjoy this.

This song is better than 90% of the songs currently charting on Country Airplay. Kid Rock has a great ear for broadly appealing, genre bending songs, and the man is an amazing performer live. This deserves to be a big hit, and i think most country fans will take to this. It's just a great organic sounding throwback song that pretty much everybody and their mother can relate too. I hope this does well on Country radio.

"All Summer Long" haunts my memory to this day and I can't change the station fast enough if it comes on the radio, which for some reason is quite often, and I also echo zaclord 🌈 for not being a fan of Kid Rock's vocals, but that being said - my goodness this is catchy. 10 years ago it wouldn't have gotten a push to country radio, but in 2015 I think it fits in pretty well. The melody is clearly this song's strength and I do think fans will take to this one. Now, I need to see how this will get promoted. If Warner Music Nashville is getting behind this, then I can see a top 30 run, but if it isn't then perhaps this can be a song that bounces around the 40's or 50's for a while at best - perhaps something similar to "Single Father's" chart run from 2004. Kid Rock's been around a while now and "All Summer Long" was 7 years ago, so perhaps country radio won't be all in on this one like that song, but it'll be interesting to see come May or June.

Country radio should be all over this as a counter balance to "Girl Crush," particularly for those stations like the "Idaho station" supposedly at the center of that "controversy."

I could see this actually being a very big song for the summer. It's got a summer type feel and just sounds perfect to turn up while driving.
Where did, "All Summer Long," peak on country radio?

I think this is one of those songs no one thinks will be a hit but slowly climbs up to the top. Definitely a good summer time song to turn up on the radio. I think a top 15 peak if promoted right, isn't out of the question.

What was first pointed out in the "Record Label" thread by onebuffalo via All Access, Kid Rock has signed with Warner Music's Nashville division and his single "First Kiss" will be worked to country radio by the the WEA promo team. I'm curious to see how this chart run plays out. WEA is the new promotion team for Warner Music Nashville, and the only two songs they've promoted are Dean Alexander's "Live A Little" and Josh Abbott Band's "Hangin' Around" - both of which did next to nothing. I'm not gonna count Michael Ray's "Kiss You In The Morning" as he got the lottery ticket with OTV. I think this song is radio-friendly enough for 2015, but the fact Kid Rock hasn't gotten to the top 40 since singing on Uncle Kracker's "Good To Be Me" in 2010 and his last solo single that got top the top 40 was "All Summer Long" in 2008 makes me somewhat skeptical, plus the relative infancy of this promo team. Should be interesting to see how big of a hit this can become.

Yes! Now that he has signed with the Nashville division, I actually expect this to become a pretty big hit. I know Kid Rock hasn't been relevant at country radio in a while but I think "First Kiss", maybe with a radio edit, will really connect with listeners.
This is probably my favorite Kid Rock single. It gives me serious John Mellencamp vibes. Kid Rock's vocals aren't bad here and the lyrics are so nostalgic and vivid. This is the perfect "roll down the windows in warm weather and cruise" song.

This is the year Kid Rock and Steven Tyler dominate country music. The sad thing is that their offerings will be more country than most.

We have no indication of what Steven's album will sound like, therefore it's jumping the gun to assume his offerings will be more country than most seems like a bit of a stretch, as of now. And, I have a hard time believing that Country fans think Kid Rock is Country at all, let alone more Country than most on the radio. He's much more on the Hot AC/Southern Rock side of the fence for me.

However, I do not believe for one minute that Big Machine and Warner Bros. did not want their respective artists on their labels if Steven Tyler and Kid Rock had nothing to offer. I think we may be pleasantly surprised when their CDs come out. As for Rock, I found Picture to be very country while All Summer Long told a story (I think country has done that a time or two).

Okay I give up, I really like this. I still hate "All Summer Long" to this day, but the melody in this song is just so infectious and it is picture perfect for summer radio. Also, the radio edit of this song clocks in at 4:11 ( All Access), with the album version being 4:40 in length.

Has anyone else heard the country mix that was just released? I just got a copy of it and I absolutely love it. Honestly, I think this is the best single Kid Rock has ever released. I hope this is a smash on country radio.

I think this is pretty good. It's still nowehere near as good to me as "All Summer Long" is (that's probably one of my favourite summer songs ever), but I still do like it a lot. I can't see it becoming a huge hit, but it wouldn't surprise me if it at least makes the top 40/top 30. Kid Rock is one of those artists that I think will always be capable of popping up and having a hit, even years after his last one.

Kid Rock hosted a big radio appreciation party for country radio programmers in Alrington, TX, on Saturday, just prior to the ACM's. I really think this one is going to have a big adds day on the 27th. The news of him signing with Warner Nashville was pretty recent, but I think it's quite apparent that the push to country radio has been in the works for quite some time now.

There is a country version, and it is on All Access now. Some steel guitar in the background. Love it. Can't see how this isn't a huge hit. (Said the same thing about "Lay Low" though)

I used to like Kid Rock a little until I read a few of his interviews. I'm sorry...I can't separate his views from his music. Please don't compare him to John Mellencamp. John is wonderful. Kid Rock's one good song was a rip-off of two great songs.
