Who of these 2 do you think is the most lasting? There are many factors that can say it's more or less, like sales from new releases, average payment from performances, overall recognition, appearances in the media, impact on new artists, etc. Keeping these factors in mind, who is the biggest now?
This question is about the artists nowadays, not condisering the years they're active. It's, as I already said, after all those years. So, whose icon status has lasted the most?

16 years in Britney is playing a theater in Vegas, and a good number of tickets to each show on the strip are bought by the casinos themselves and given to their VIPs and high rollers. She's also coming off an album that spawned no hits and barely shipped 500,000. 16 years in Madonna was in her Ray of Light era. You tell me.

Madonna's been around twice as long, so obviously her.

I don't get it. Are we comparing Britney to Madonna at the same point in her career? Britney 1998-2015 Madonna 1983-2000

I personally don't care for either although I like Britney more. I never understood the appeal with Madonna and to this day don't see anything special about her. I'm not suggesting anyone to replace them as "iconic", I'm just saying...

Who is the biggest right now? Who is more of an icon? Who lasted longer? What is the question? Judging from "most lasting icon" I would assume Madonna considering she's been here longer... her career started in 1983 and Brit started in 1998 soo clearly M has been here longer idk idk idk. I'm voting M.

I don't really like Madonna, I enjoy some her songs (probably even more of Britney's), but...Britney doesn't even come close. She's kind of like a lucky Debbie Gibson.

Untill Madonna devellops a sweet tone of singing and can dance like Britney nothing ellse matters to me. Britney llasts llonger in my fllawlless bedroom every night. It's obviously Madonna as of now, but where did the idea that the Vegas strip was buying most of the tickets come up? Where has that been reported, and even if it was, how is that a criticism of Britney's place in the industry?

She's stillll not selllling out actualllly. It's standard practice. My parents were big gambllers and VIPs in about 6 casinos on the strip. Not once did they pay for a show. This is allll common knowlledge and can be read about in any lliterature about Vegas.

If casino owners are buying the tickets, she's still selling out. All that means are that less seats are available to the public for purchase, and those are selling just fine. A packed house is a packed house. There's now way to know if she would sell out otherwise, and past tour sales would suggest that yes, she would. Your logic is incredibly faulty.

Her last tour saw a major drop from its predecessor and you know it. And again, they're not packed houses. Look at the BoxScores.

Britney was coming off of a massive comeback for The Circus Tour, had an extra leg, and had more dates. It's not like she pulled a Gaga and pawned off tickets to the Born This Way Ball at stupidly cheap prices. The Femme Fatale tour did just fine. Compared to someone like Madonna? Hell no, but I already said Madonna is the clear winner as far as the discussion this poll is actually about goes lol. As for BoxScores, "packed house" was meant figuratively, but she's pretty consistently at the top of it. My point is with a reported capacity of ~54,000 with an average of ~40,000 seats filled a night, a couple of VIP tickets being purchased by casino owners doesn't mean that much. She's doing just fine for herself as much as you'd (apparently) like to believe otherwise.

I almost want to troll as hard as this poll does, but I will resist the urge. Madonna fans don't need a poll to boost their fave up any more than she already has boosted herself for the past 3+ decades. And Britney fans don't need a poll to know they don't give a s**t because their fave accomplished a hell of a lot in her own time. Let both these ladies be at peace in the afterlives of their illustrious (for both) careers, good grief.

Everyone does well in Vegas, there's an entirely different group of tens of thousands of tourists in the city every few days on top of the locals, and the majority of them just want to see a "Vegas show" while they're there.

In my opinion, the whole idea of this poll is flawed. These ladies are the same thing to a different set of people. There's no taking anything from either of them, no matter how hard you try.

IMO the real debate and only question that actually makes sense is if you asked who has more talent? Madonna has been brainwashing in the game for longer than most of you have been alive, her career spanned decades before Britney even showed up.
