Pretty excited for this. I'm going to go on a limb and predict without even hearing the finished version that this will go Platinum. I think Thomas is going to emerge as a big star in the genre, and after reading he wants to stick to more dance-able country songs, I think he will build a nice niche for himself. This should be a big hit for Thomas.

The mid-week Billboard article a few weeks ago stated that Gary Allan wanted to cut this but was rebuffed by Rhett who already had the song on hold. Gary was then set up with the writers of that song to write his current single "Hangover Tonight". I'm thinking this one will have that soul/R&B type feel to it.
This song was written by Jesse Frasure and Chris Stapleton.

If I remember correctly, Rhett said it's lyrically a sad song, but the instrumentation is sonically kind of happy (for lack of a better word lol). It's supposed to be a song you can dance too, similar to "Make Me Wanna".

This song is a blight on Country music. I have heard the studio version and it is nowhere near country.
T.r. has said he is "pushing the envelope" on this record. I hope the envelope pushes back against his "artistry".
Wake up people!

Wish he would have released Learned It form the Radio... Oh well, I don't hate the clip but I'm not fond of it either.

Country radio: "We'll play pop, rock, rap, hip-hop, and dance tunes. If you want country music, find it on the internet or sift through your grandpa's record collection."

Yikes! Whats this guys appeal? Paper thin vocals & bad pop music. I could over look his voice on his first two singles but everything else I've heard from him is just horrible.

I have no problem with him trying a new sound. If he kept releasing stuff that sounded like "Get Me Some Of That", he'd eventually get lost in the shuffle, plus, his voice isn't that great.

Yikes! Whats this guys appeall? He appeals to country radio's growing demographic of 18-34 year olds. The production on each of his singles has gotten less country as we've gone along here and what do you know, his popularity has grown with it. They just want to appeal to both country fans and fans of popular music - the big break for Rhett and others (Sam Hunt) is that the music still gets played on country radio with zero questions asked. I agree about his thin vocals but I'm actually not too surprised with how popular he's been. Valory and BMLG is definitely taking advantage of it too, if his image is any indication ("Crash and Burn's" photo shoot and the "Make Me Wanna" music video). I mean country radio hasn't had any problem playing any of his material so far, so why not try to stretch that boundary further? "Burnin' It Down" was a huge radio single and a massive seller, yet that might have been the least country sounding song on country radio I can remember. This song being very "uncountry" is about what I expected from Rhett and company, and of course radio will most likely make this the most added song come April 27th.

Well nowadays in the Country Industry, you have to wonder if maybe the label is already considering a Pop push in the future if this is big enough. Don't know how country the verses are yet, but the chorus definitely does sound like the hook to a big song, and with Thomas still in his early 20's, he seems like a great choice to push a song or two into the realm of Pop music.

This goes to iTunes later tonight and it already got 8 adds this week, three weeks before the official impact date. Despite me being petrified by the 15 second clip, I think this one will do very well for Thomas as his momentum is sky high at the moment.

Sounds catchy to me. I'll reserve final judgement until I hear it in full. I grew to like Thomas Rhett. I love both "It Goes Like This" and "Make Me Wanna" and think they both sound fine on country radio, especially the former. I'd take both over the bro stuff, that's for sure.

Cover art: Oh my. I thought "Make Me Wanna" wasn't all that country but this thing takes it to a whole new level. It does seriously sounds like Thomas is striving to be Bruno Mars which wilbur made reference to earlier in the thread. The production is not even remotely country to my ears - the melody and vocal progression in the chorus sounds more at home on a top 40 station. It's catchy, I'll give it that, but I don't think this belongs on country radio. Of course that means nothing in the eyes of radio, and if I'm going to predict, I say this continues Thomas' hot streak at radio (especially since it got 8 early adds today, three weeks off the add date) and gets him another big hit.

I think this will end up being one of the biggest hits of the year. It just seems like it's going to be big, and be yet another song that pushes the boundaries of Country music. I agree with sabre14 that this doesn't really sound country at all. In fact, even his vocals don't seem to have as much twang to them on this. The lyrics are a step up from his previous songs, that's for sure. I'm really torn on this song because I really do like it, however, I want Country radio to stay country lol. I'm okay with some Pop or Rock or even both being mixed into my songs, but this one just seems to be a little too more Pop leaning. I think we will easily see this enter the top 10 on iTunes within the next few days though.

I'm not quite sure about this one. I think Thomas should be releasing this to Pop or R&B radio. It doesn't have any Country mixed in there so I think it will be weird hearing it on Country radio.

I echo everyone else in that I really like this song, just not exactly as a "country" song...though I'll take pop production with better lyrics than pandering country lyrics with a banjo or steel guitar tossed in to make it "country".

Oh boy. Where do I begin? Let's sart with the positives. This is much stronger lyrically than his three #1 singles. I also don't think anyone will deny that it's very catchy.
Now to the negatives. There is nothing country about this. This would fit in perfectly on a Bruno Mars album and it would sound right in line with Hot AC and Pop radio playlists. The fact that this is a Chris Stapleton co-write shocks me. I DO encourage country artists to expand their horizons and try out new genres occasionally. But if you're going to do that, leave those songs as album tracks or push them to the right radio format (ZBB with "Heavy Is The Head").
I've never been a fan of Thomas Rhett's vocals and nothing changes my mind on this song. His low voice in the verses sounds awkward and grating; Josh Turner he is not. And then his voice when he sings dooowwnnnn is nasally and irritating.
Naturally, this is an at-least Gold #1 hit that will end up being one of the biggest hits of the year.

This is awesome. I think you are about to see a new era of A-list Artists Thomas Rhett, Tyler Farr, Sam Hunt and Cole Swindell.
