Happy to have new music from George. Based on the song title alone I already like it!

Until I hear the song I'm going to picture him singing the frozen song. Can't wait to hear though.

Happy to have new music from George. Based on the song title alone I already like it! I hope it's better than Tim's "Let It Go". George always seems to record albums with very little word of him doing it and then bam!, a new single is announced. I'm definitely stoked for new Strait music though, and next week is my spring break.

Hot cover of Idina Menzel?! :o jk Seriously though, I can't wait to hear this. I really hope radio surprises us with this one and it doesn't completely flop. A decent Top 20 peak on par with "I Got a Car" would more than please me at this point. At any rate though I'm pretty excited for new music from George Strait though. His last album was fantastic.

Per Windmills: Songwriters are Keith Gattis, Bubba Strait and George Strait. Third consecutive CD where George and Bubba Strait get a single on following Twang, Here For A Good Time, and Love Is Everything. Of course, Keith Gattis wrote I Got A Car.

It'll be cool to hear this. But I highly doubt Monday is the "Add day" how could radio add something most haven't heard?

Interested to hear this. Wasn't a fan of any of his singles this past album era, but George is usually pretty solid in my book, so I'm hoping for something more like "It Just Comes Natural" or "Living For The Night".

Haha go figure, I was going to say that I hope it's at least as good as Tim's song. I've never been a huge George fan (I've liked a handful of singles over the years, but that's about it), but I hope I like this one.

Please reach top 10 and hopefully this will reach #1 on Billboard. No greedy requests from me thank you. Anything past the top 20 would be great, but I do feel that George's time at radio is just about over. I still think he can achieve a hit or two from his lead singles, but that's about it unfortunately.

Yeah, especially after the '60 for 60' campaign, which imo begged radio to give George a final farewell song. I'd be surprised if a new George song made it much higher than #30, but I guess we'll see.

Yeah, especially after the '60 for 60' campaign, which imo begged radio to give George a final farewell song. Oh yeah that... but I Got a Car went top 20 (though it took forever to do so). After thinking about it, I would be satisfied if this reached at least the top 20. But we will see.

I think Tim's new single being successful could potentially open the way for a new George Strait single. The label is going to need to push this HARD though to at least get it out to people. There were people in large parts of the country that never even heard "I Got A Car" on the radio or knew about it. That's a travesty honestly and a missed opportunity that I place squarely on the label. It's pretty easy to blame large radio conglomerates, but the label's job is to get their artist played or given a chance.

The add date may be wrong because I read he will premiere a new song at the ACM awards. So no one will hear it until then probably.

It's pretty easy to blame large radio conglomerates, but the label's job is to get their artist played or given a chance. I completely disagree with this. Labels can't just go out and buy airplay, so I'm not sure what else they could have done to "promote" IGAC. Radio promotion in this day and age involves "relationships" with country radio...basically it's the promo people at the label taking the artists out to radio stations and they all suck up to each other and pretend they're friends (I'm sure that some actual friendships form, but for the most part it's labels/artists sucking up to radio). If George wants to drop by radio stations and pay friendly visits he can certainly do so...but he rarely does. That's just not who he is. If radio doesn't want to play a song, there's nothing the label can do. But I don't think MCA suddenly forgot how to promote singles. Sam Hunt is white hot right now, and MCA has successfully promoted nearly all of George's singles for 40+ years now. The fact is that George is 60+ years old now and radio is focused on playing younger artists. Even before all the big corporations came in and bought up all the stations, radio didn't play the older artists all that much (although it's even worse now with corporately-controlled radio conglomerations). The add date may be wrong because I read he will premiere a new song at the ACM awards. So no one will hear it until then probably. It will most likely be sent to radio on Monday (hence why KAJA posted on their website that they'd start playing the song next week). There is a difference between "going for adds" and getting sent to radio though. My guess is that the adds date will be either the 13th or the 20th.

I think we all know better than that :) And I'm not saying this to say MCA should pay radio stations, but sometimes it isn't worth putting time and resources into promoting someone from their catalog. George isn't going to sell 500k singles and very likely less than a million albums, so how far do you go to ensure the song gets into the top 20? Top 10?

Kj has a small part of the song playing early. I resisted listening. I want to hear it all for the first time.

When "I Got A Car" was around it's height of popularity, there were ads almost every week for the song to receive airplay. The promotion was there, it's not like they didn't make any effort. Let's put it this way: name one genre of music nowadays where someone over 60+ years of age can still get continuous airplay hits? I can only think of one at the moment other than George (AC/DC, but they are a legendary act). George has had a great run, but with so many new singers being introduced every year, Country radio can't play everybody (well they could if they limited the audience/spins of the top 20 songs, but they will never do that), so it only makes sense that some of the older acts get weened out first. It wouldn't have mattered what label was promoting "I Got A Car", there was only so much it was going to be able to do being a 3rd single following an absolute flop from a 65 (he's 65 right?) year old man.

I'm not denying any of this of course. The radio career is over and has been an amazing run for a 62 year old (almost 65!). I hope the best for the new single, but I definitely see it being an extremely slow climber outside of the San Antonio area. At least I'll be able to hear it on the way to work everyday :)
