Yikes a 1-11 drop for Wale! What was the last drop out of the top 10 from a number one debut? Kally Clarkson last month on the Billboard 200. Madonna on the HITS album sales chart.

Interesting that we're so conditioned to focus on the negative of albums that benefit from TEA + SEA (these aren't real sales! they don't deserve to be #1!) but not on the negative of albums that DON'T drive any TEA + SEA.

Yeah, but albums that don't drive TEA & SEA, have the same amount of sales for the week if SPS didn't exist.

Yeah, but albums that don't drive TEA & SEA, have the same amount of sales for the week if SPS didn't exist. Both types of albums still have the same amount of sales. The only thing that has changed is chart ranking. That TEA and SEA count toward the Billboard 200 does not change the fact that many are struggling to sell traditional albums. That TEA and SEA count toward the Billboard 200 does not change the fact that some artists are struggling to sell tracks and drive streams. -- Historically, we've been preconditioned to consider the latter struggle as less significant than the former. We ascribe a negative connotation to "singles artists" or "streaming artists" but don't think of the downside associated with ONLY being an "album artist."

Well, I think the chart ranking part is what bothers most people. Some artists are missing top 10 etc. but this has been talked about over and over, so.

Anyone know how much Delta Rae's "After It All" sold in it's first week? I think it debuted at #153 on the Billboard 200.
