Thinking of removing these artists
Ace Freshley Chiodos Conor Oberst First Aid Kit Issues Jim Croce Joe Bonamassa John Hiatt John Mellencamp Johnnyswim Keb' Mo' Natalie Merchant Rakim (he's featured in Guilty All the Same but with the Jason Mraz problem in the country game...) Rodrigo y Gabriela Shovels & Rope Soko (was here due to a viral video) Suicide Silence Tesla Third Day (a CCM band that was also classified as rock by Billboard) Trampled By Turtles Tweedy Whitechapel Within Temptation
That's 23 artists to remove.
Any violent objections?

I'm talking about bands such as Chiodos and Tesla that I don't even know of You've never heard of Tesla? Oh well, I guess love will find a way. No never heard of them (remember my post in the Stolen Dance thread that I only got into alt/rock in 2013 though I listened to a bit of alt already before then). I think Safe and Sound was the main reason for introducing me to alt/rock even though I like it less now.

I enjoyed their 2004 album Into the Now when it came out, but nowadays most of it really dates itself.

When trebor gives his opinion this evening (Singapore time) I will update the list Daryl: Your list looks fine. 2 or 3 might stay, but it's OK. Most of these are really deep niche genres assembled under the Indie/Alt umbrella. Can we lose these: Not rock and just fillers. Avicii (EDM) / Katy Perry (Pop) / Lorde (#Hipster) / Lucinda Williams (Christian) / Rosanne Cash (Americana) / Sam Smith (Pop) / Switchfoot (Country/Christian/Rock) / Tove Lo (#Hipster)

Lorde was huge on Alt last year so a huge NO to that. I'm keeping Switchfoot too, they are considered alternative and not country. Also, how did Katy Perry end up on my list?

With the new list. This is NOT a vote.
I removed The Conspirators (minor role on Slash's work) and LOLO (minor role in Miss Jackson too). Also just realised why I put Katy Perry on that list - she's on that John Mayer track.
