It's a bit underwhelming actually. That being said, It might be more of what radio wants this time around. Writers: Sherrie Austin, Adam Hambrick and Brian Dean Maher. Produced by Carson Chamberlain. Lyrics

This is truly awful - sounds like something Taylor Swift might have written before she got a record deal when she was 12. Makes it even worse that a guy is singin' it.

I gotta admit, I was expecting this to be a lot worse than it actually is. I don't really mind this. It's definitely not great, but I wouldn't exactly say it's bad, either (like compared to most of the bro-country songs I've heard). Just your typical radio fodder, nothing more.

I actually think this one's pretty terrible. Just a stupid subject with clunky, childish lyrics. I like the way Jackie's voice sounds and the production isn't too bad, but that's about all I can find redeemable in this song. Reading the lyrics beforehand frightened me and my fears were realized when I clicked play.

Wow. Thats deep. (sigh) The genre just seems to dumb its self down almost daily at this point.

At this point they're just changing the title hook and rearranging the rest of the lyrics. I suppose this isn't the worst thing I've ever heard, but it's hardly good, and I won't be going out of my way to hear it.

Here's the studio version. ListenI clicked the link but can't see where you can hear the song? There's a black audio bar located directly under the line "Check it out and let us know what you think of it by commenting below." Kind of hard to miss. If it's not showing up, try another web browser or computer maybe? Idk.

Oh well, from the comments it doesn't sound like I'm missing out on much anyway. lol.

It does work for me and I tried both Chrome and Firefox, but that happens time to time with some stations web pages. You're right though, you're not missing anything here IMO. It goes to iTunes on April 28th.

This isn't "worst song ever", but it isn't good at all. It's so generic and unoriginal. Luckily, I think it's about a year too late to ride the "bro country" wave, so I'm not expecting it to do very much.

Now I click the link and the audio bar appears. Okay.
Anyway, I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised! l really like this, and it definitely appears I am in the minority on this one. To me, it doesn't sound like bro-country in the least. I actually find it very melodically pleasing and quite catchy. It's a really nice listen and IMO sounds like a mainstream country song that would have been released years back, before bro-country plagued the genre. I want to listen to it a couple more times, but the more I hear it the more I love it, so I'll probably end up buying it.
Regarding the lyrics, yeah they're quite bad. I made the mistake of reading them before actually listening to the song. However, I don't think they sound nearly as stupid when put to music.

I don't think this one will amount to much. "Headphones" got 16 adds on impact day and just 19 total its first week. Jackie's debut "She Does", got 33 on impact day with 40 total stations by week one. Broken Bow is pretty darn good at sticking with singles but it's going to be a long and hard haul to achieve even a respectable peak for "Headphones."

With how difficult it is to chart at the moment, I actually wouldn't be surprised if this never cracks the Billboard top 60. In fact that's what I'm gonna go with for my prediction.

I think you'll be right. "Headphones" only got 4 adds this week, after the 19 total stations it got last week (impact day). With the way this song's pulling adds in, I think some bouncing around in the 60's will in fact be all this accomplishes. Not that I'm that upset since this is a pretty horrid song IMO. Jackie's run at Broken Bow may be short lived, especially if they continue to release songs like this.

Looks like Jackie made his debut on the charts at #60. Congrats that's all the positive things I have to say.

I'm surprised that this was able to chart, although I must say that Jackie really got lucky here, since he only needed 550k to crack the top 60. The main reason I'm surprised that it charted (aside from the fact that it went for adds more than 2 months ago, on May 11) is because BBR stopped advertising it in the daily Aircheck emails last week. The week before, the BBR ad featured "Tonight Looks Good On You", "Hell Of A Night", and "Headphones", but last week Jackie was dropped from the ad and it was just Jason and Dustin on there.
Considering that, I wouldn't actually be surprised if BBR isn't actively working this to radio anymore, and it just charted because a couple stations finally decided to slot it into their playlists (without really being 'worked' by the label), thus allowing it to come in at #60 on Billboard.
In short, I doubt this does much more. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if this one week at #60 winds up being its only week on the chart. That's what happened to David Fanning's "Doin' Country Right" as well.

This song is blasting away in the Kohl's I'm in right now, lol. They pick the weirdest songs to play sometimes. Imagine picking up the Madden 16 video game and hearing Lee Brice's "Sirens," Blackberry Smoke's "Holding All The Roses" and The Cadillac Three's "I'm Rockin'" on it. I never pay attention to their "soundtracks" and the last season only had songs in-game for stadium sounds.
