Well good luck finding it. They're on top of that shit even faster than Taylor Swift's team tearing down YouTube concert footage.

I feel like this is the album that crossover artists and urban alternative artists have been trying to make over the past 5 years or so. It's put together so perfectly; you've got your urban tracks, R&B tracks, pop tracks, trap elements, dance elements, 80s elements, etc. Even with him experimenting with those sounds, he still managed to include the elements of his earlier music to appease his day one fans. Another thing I like about it is that the transitions between tracks don't feel jarring, which can easily happen if you're trying to cram every current trend into one album. Excellent track sequencing. He is poised for a huge album era, if they play their cards right.
I actually like every song on the album, but I LOVE "Tell Your Friends," "Can't Feel My Face," "Shameless," "Earned It," "In the Night," "Prisoner" and "Angel." "The Hills" is probably my least favorite on the album, and it's mainly because I don't like that distorted effect he put on his vocals. This album, along with Jazmine Sullivan's "Reality Show" are definitely my favorite albums of the year.

My two early favorites are "Prisoner" (track of the year?) and "Aquainted" (which reminds me of "The Party & The After Party" from House of Balloons). I love "In The Night" too but now that I notice how eerie the lyrics are, I find it a little depressing too. I've only listened once (and didn't even get to every track yet!) so I'm sure I'll have deeper and more concrete opinions in another day or two. But I certainly agree with Live Your Life that this is a perfectly constructed crossover album that appeals to many reaches of his past, present, and prospective demographics.

Angel is amazing. I need Abel to gimme a video/single/Grammy performance for that one. So fucking good.
I also love Shameless and In the Night. Definitely buying this when it comes out next week.

just finished listening to it and WOW. loved nearly every second of it, especially "tell your friends" and "prisoner". no comment on whoever's note that was in "dark times" though.

"I Can't Feel My Face" is awesome. That song and the album could be a Grammy contender. For sure, now. I think this is up with 1989 and To Pimp A Butterfly for AOTY contenders and CFMY is alongside "Uptown Funk" and "Blank Space" for the single categories. I'm assuming this will go under Urban/Contemporary Album. Maybe they'll split "Can't Feel My Face" and "Earned It" between Pop and R&B? This is definitely his moment. Perfect timing with CFMF peaking, "The Hills" finally exploding on radio, just in time for Grammy eligiblity, will be cruising along through holiday + Grammy sales. The Weeknd pulled this year off perfectly. And his team did a fantastic job.

He has terrible vocals. I'm hoping I can cherry pick a few songs.

WOW at Angel. Perfect closing track. I agree with nightshade that it deserves a Grammy performance.

Listened the whole way through twice now! I looooove "As You Are" that one is wow!
I have to say though, as great as this album is, it's not his best. House of Balloons still sounds fresher, more inventive, and better produced to this day. And "The Knowing" IS the epic album closer that "Angel" only almost achieves.

It's good. If you listen to any of his past albums, it's that same slow mellow vibe. You have to kinda be in that mood to appreciate it, otherwise, there's not much replay value to it. But it sucks that it took the third album of this same sound for people to finally jump on board.

Prisoner and In The Night gives me life that I never know I've been missing. Dark Times is one of the weaker track in the album yet I still love it. Definitely a contender for AOTY.

I still find his voice incredibly grating across an entire album, but this is very solid. "Earned It," "Can't Feel My Face," "Tell Your Friends," and "Shameless" are my favorites.

My favorites:
01. "As You Are" 02. "Prisoner" 03. "Earned It" (Is it just me or does that sound extra fresh in context here?) 04. "Acquainted" 05. "Tell Your Friends"
I honestly like every song though. Even "The Hills" and "Can't Feel My Face" sound better bundled on the album than they do individually. And on that note, what is "Often" doing on here? It was on his previous project and failed to ignite it, but it did have one hell of a long shelf life. I guess it was tacked on to show Urban listeners that the vibe of the album would still be to their liking?
