^ I already mentioned it would be available to iTunes a few posts up (and of course the add date has been the same since the thread was started). :) I know, I was commenting on the banter you exchanged with dm2081 about why the release date seemed so late since it was being premiered on radio now. I was saying I think having the release date for purchase coinciding with the adds date makes more sense than putting it out now.

I quite like this song. The lyrics are pretty good too at telling a story of a young, carefree couple getting quite a bit too reckless in their love of being together. I don't think he screams or shouts nearly as much as people think. Lyrics: roughstock.com/?p=34617I mocked a cover using the font from the MPe release with the official PR Photo for the song ( which was featured here).

On first listen I'm not all that impressed with this one. It sounds a little too much like he's trying to do a Luke Bryan song and it just isn't a great fit for him. The lyrics are pretty catchy, but the melody is anything but. The success of his last album had a lot to do with how catchy the melodies were and how well suited to Randy they were. I could see that hampering sales a bit here, but it should do just fine at radio. I do worry though, if Randy may already have his biggest days behind him. His career path thus far bares a striking resemblance to Rodney Atkins: early blip of success (Boots On/Honesty), a few flops then an album with 4 big hits (Going Thru Hell/How Country Feels). Rodney churned out several hits over the next few years, but never came close to the success of Going Through Hell. Randy's not on Curb, so he has a better chance for sure, but this lead single feels kind of Farmer's Daughter-y to me (similar sound to big hits, just less memorable).

Although I am disappointed with this song which sounds like a Luke Bryan B-side, I can't wait for the album. I still listen to the last one quite often.

Going against the grain again: I just love this track which is infectiously catchy and totally radio-friendly. It's modern and fresh with enough country backdrop to justify country radio plays. IDK whether this is the right sound for Randy Houser, though. Have no objections to the lyrics.

Huge Randy Houser fan here. I don't claim to know how this song will play out on the radio and may be splitting hairs, but how does a "Pickup Truck Kick Up Dust in the Mud"? It's ok but certainly not in my Top 5 Houser singles to date.

This song was written by Justin Wilson, Matt Rogers, and Black River artist John King. John posted this on his FB page on Monday:

There's a pretty good chance I'm going to start overusing the word "space" when talking about country singles, but I'm a voice-first listener to music, so I look for a track and melody that give the singer "space" to put his/her/their individual stamp on the song, "space" for quirks of phrasing and vocalisms, "space" for an imperfection that feels emotionally true.
Randy Houser is a terrific singer. Melodically, if radio is a ballpark, "We Went" feels like a Luke Bryan-level home run. Lyrically, I like that there's a narrative, even if it isn't a particularly unusual one when it comes to reminiscences about young love.
But the cadence of the song is such that Randy Houser doesn't have the "space" to show why this is his song's and not Luke's, and I get this feeling that Randy sings the whole song at the same emotional level, without much modulation for the lyrical moment or the moment in narrative development. Basically, I'm not hearing much attempt at storytelling. I think that will have precisely zero impact on its radio run, but it's hard not to feel like there's a loss here anyway because of the quality of singer behind the mic.

Well, I heard this on the radio a few days ago and want to hear it in full again, but I guess that's not possible at the moment. grr. Anyway, I really loved what I heard. I'm not really a fan Randy Houser or his vocals, but I do like a couple of his songs such as "Whistlin' Dixie" and "Boots On"

Had this blasting today and while doing chores I forgot which music was on and... for a minute from afar I truly believed this to be Luke Bryan

Oh, this is such ear candy. Depth, no, but not every song can be. This is going to be HUGE. Summer anthem for sure.

I don't see all the gripes with this one. This isn't any different than "Runnin' Outta Moonlight", which was both highly successful and a great song in my opinion.
This doesn't sound like anyone's B-side, and it's better than most of the new songs I've heard in the past couple months (including the one from the artist mentioned by numerous posters above).
It's edgy and dark, but it's got this kind of free-ness that makes it really comforting while still managing to let that darkness lurk. It's got the western feel that continues from "Like a Cowboy". I like it a lot. I also have no trouble finding the emotion in his voice--in the verses he is quieted and cautious, but by the time the chorus rolls around he lays on the emotion and now we're really cruising along with the lyrics.

Wow, this is atrocious. This sounds exactly like a Luke Bryan song (and not the rare good few he has... the kinda like "That's My Kinda Night) and I even think he sounds like Luke on this, which for an amazing vocalist like Randy, is not a compliment. He's capable of much more vocally and quality-wise. After being a fan of all of the singles from his last album to some degree, this is a major disappointment.

I don't understand the Luke Bryan comparisons at all. This sounds like a Randy Houser song to me, and if you liked "Runnin' Out of Moonlight", then I don't see why you wouldn't be a fan of this one. I think this is the perfect sound for Randy to lead off his next album with, as this should be a hit with no problems. I don't think a ballad was ever going to be in play for a lead single, especially following up two ballads. Not sure what everyone was expecting from Randy this go-around.

Gotta hand it to rsmatto. Looking at the above post and the one at the almost top of the page, the single artwork is the same. Kudos!

I was expecting at least 30 adds for "We Went" this week, but it came in a tie for second with 22 adds on impact day (29 total).

Ok, geniuses who continuosly complain about the "throwin' up a little dust like a pickup truck" lyric in verse one. You're apparently not listening to the continuation of the lyric.
"Throwin' up a little dust like a pickup truck DOES IN THE MUD." For an audience that essentially lives life in a truck, how don't you understand that if you've got your foot on the gas and you happen to drive pretty quickly through mud/dirt/gravel, the tires will spin harder for traction, producing ... wait for it ... wait for it. DUST!!! The entire first verse is about burning up the road in a Pontiac, so obviously somewhere in the process there'd be some dust! Not sure why this is even a question.
