I love both albums, and listen to both frequently, so if she chooses to build on the sound of YT, I would love that!

Personally, I'm totally ok with that. I really enjoyed My Everything, but Yours Truly was the better (and frankly more genuine) record. Agreed. I loved yours truly from back to front but hated her second record...besides be my baby!

ME shits on YT. YT was far too childish for my adult self and her now adult self. I don't see her going platinum or having longevity with another record like that. Too bubble gum no grit. She need her GGGB breakthrough. Get nasty, get ratchet, get a bob, sis. Do some.

I like both albums. But I'd go with "My Everything", so many jams.

Yours Truly felt like a record where her team sat down and said, "Hey, let's just record some great songs and see what happens." In contrast, My Everything felt like a record where they were trying (not necessarily succeeding) to make every song sound like a super current hit. While the latter approach is understandable if one wants to achieve commercial success, the former often makes for a more timeless, honest approach.
It's the same reason I revisit One of the Boys far more often than Teenage Dream. It just felt less like a record that was pandering for radio hits and more like a record that simply said, "Hey, this is me. This is what I can do."

I hope with this next record she can find an even balance of radio hits, while still staying 100% Ariana.

Outside of Problem and Break free, ME wasn't really that commercial, IMO. YT just sounds like radio disney music to me. It's not something I want to be caught listening to as a grown person. Like, I wouldn't be bumping that in my Jeep driving down rodeo drive. It had nice moments, but as as a whole, it just wasn't for me.

I don't care how people feel on what I'm blasting in My car at this point. I'm 24, and I will blast Popular Song everywhere :bert:.

My Everything wasn't exactly samey, but the album was essentially the combined efforts of Yours Truly and top 40. It was designed to be a commercial record, but still distinctly an Ariana record-- a very calculated effort. Just because it stood out doesn't mean it wasn't commercial. I don't think anyone thinks that's a bad thing either (I don't), but Yours Truly definitely stands out more. I'm also not sure what you mean by Yours Truly sounding like Radio Disney fodder. It's a fun 90s-throwback album meant to sound like a Mariah Carey record, if anything.

I prefer Yours Truly over My Everything. Yours Truly is a better album, it does have its "kid moments" but overall it's a better body of work at least for me personally. My Everything felt like she was just chasing trends. Hopefully I'll enjoy Moonlight.

Both albums are about even for me. "Yours Truly" was more cohesive, but the highlights on "My Everything" were better than the ones on "Yours Truly," IMO.

She did a great job with her Mashup of "I'm Every Woman and Vogue". I know she's got a good voice but her voice was more powerful than I expected during "I'm Every Woman". Work the "I'm Every Woman" bridge!!!
