Steven Tyler hosted a listening party in LA last night for a lot of prominent radio folks, and of course most of the executives from BMLG were there as well. Here's what AllAccess' RJ Curtis had to say (a paraphrasing of what Scott Borchetta said last night): www.allaccess.com/net-news/archive/story/141416/steven-tyler-wows-country-programmers-at-l-a-liste?ref=mail_country_dailyThe article is a bit unclear...it doesn't say that Borchetta specifically said that they would go to Triple A radio, but maybe he implied it. In any case, RJ Curtis (AllAccess editor) seems to think that a couple tracks would be embraced by Triple A radio programmers, so we'll have to see if BMLG/Dot sends a couple of singles to Triple A in addition to Country. It'd make sense. I actually think THIS song is "servicable" to AAA radio and that they'd play it. As for the other stuff, it seems that the record will be the kind that will touch all sides of his musical personality, which is good. Maybe it'll have a little country blues track on there too (which would strike my fancy). Maybe even a Chris Stapleton-type of song from his Steeldrivers days...

This is how it's doing so far on MB: 0 46 STEVEN TYLER Love Is Your Name 820 0 820 7.18 That is really a surprise!! Instead of believing that this song will barely chart or do nothing at all, looks like it will probably debut in the 30's next week on Billboard Country Airplay chart. What caused LIYN to jump up like this? Surely it couldn't be the performance on American Idol last night because I don't think it would have jumped so quickly since it had only been a few hours since the performance. It got played every hour on iHeartMedia stations yesterday as a world premiere special. This is done for a lot of artists' lead singles (although never before an artist's debut country release), so this first day is inflated and really doesn't say anything about how well this will do in the long run, or even how well it will do in tomorrow's update. I actually agree with jhomes87 that this might really struggle after the first week or two. It's a buzz-worthy single but imo not much more than that in terms of radio-friendliness.

This is getting some sort of iHeartRadio world premiere. I'm not sure whether it's bi-hourly, only on some stations, or a "full" deal, but I find it strange that Chris Young can't get his lead single any sort of IHM world premiere support while an artist who has literally never had a country single before can. I wonder if Dot simply got IHM to agree to a world premiere before RCA, and so Chris couldn't get anything because iHeartMedia didn't want to have two consecutive world premiere deals. This definitely goes along with the traditional style of all Dot Records' music, which makes me skeptical this will do much after getting some curiosity spins. I don't think Tyler's age would have anything to do with his radio success if he released radio-friendly music, but I'm not sure Steven Tyler plans on committing to a long-term country music career or establishing a strong presence at mainstream radio. This seems to me like just something he was interested in trying rather than a permanent career shift. The labels don't have anything to do with iHeartMedia world premieres. They can't buy or arrange for airplay--that would be illegal. You forgot the *wink , wink , nudge, nudge* I've only heard this once through crappy work truck speakers once (AND AM radio no less). I'm not knocked out by any means , but it is better than I expected. I'm gonna guess his IHR debut will also be this songs peak.

I finally heard this for the first time today. The song itself wasn't exactly what I first expected it to be, but man his vocals are just painful for me to listen to. Admittedly, I was never a fan of Aerosmith. I enjoy my fair share of rock music but Aerosmith weren't chief among them. I've seen him interviewed before and he always came off as a fun, sincere guy but his voice is just not suited for country radio, and throwing a few country instruments in a song will not make me ignore the shock to my system that is his voice. The chorus is especially grating for me with the "I'll walk through the fire. I'll run through the rain. I'll wait for forever".
I agree with those who say that this won't do too much beyond its debut. I will say that surprise minor hits have happened before but I'll predict this won't be one of them. I respect Steven Tyler and his musical catalog but this one's a pass for me.

I've always liked Steven Tyler and Aerosmith, and this song is no exception. That being said, I don't think it really belongs on country radio. Outside of the prearranged airplay that should lead to a decent debut this week, I don't see this doing much at country radio.

I still really love this. I watched his performance of this on AI the other night. Thought the performance was sub-par compared to the quality of the studio version. I still think Steven is somewhat strong live, but the performance on finale night didn't do anything for me. Hopefully people who are interested in hearing the song in it's full version, will take the time to hear the s. Radio stations were playing a short clip of the live performance, and honestly between radio static and the poor live audio that came through my radio, it was unimpressive. What I mean, is that it may give people the wrong impression for people like me who actually enjoy the song. At least, Steven looked like he had fun with it.

Today's update wasn't very kind to this song. It only got 20 spins yesterday. If things don't improve, I imagine it may even fall right off the charts after its big debut this week.

Wasn't expecting to like this honestly, but I do. It's nothing particularly special, but it's a pleasant enough song. I enjoy the melody and feel of the song and his vocals aren't half bad on this. It's also decidedly more country in sound than I anticipated it would be. trebor that audio video you posted is not the way the song sounds. Someone has edited the pitch to avoid copyright, lol.

Why did Steven Tyler debut so high? ^^Moved this into the Steven Tyler thread. I talked about this in my weekly predictions thread. Steven debuted at #33 because he got once-an-hour spins from iHeartMedia stations on Wednesday. Anytime you see a song debut this high these days, it's usually because of iHeartMedia giving it pre-arranged airplay. If you look at the Thursday morning Mediabase update ( here), you can see that Tyler had 820 spins and over 7 million in audience after just 1 day at radio. Four days later ( here), he was up to 7.849 million. Over 90% of his total audience from the last 5 days was from Wednesday airplay alone. Tyler will see a big negative update on Thursday morning, and his 2nd week on the chart will see him fall way back, most likely out of the top 40. I actually won't be all that surprised if #33 winds up being his peak position.

I wonder if we'll see this fall off the chart from a #33 debut. The audience gains on Mediabase since the first day have been so small that I doubt they translate to more than 1-1.5 million audience on Billboard at most. I guess it depends on how the rest of this week turns out, now that the initial hype of Steven Tyler's country debut seems to be dying down. I get that Steven Tyler coming to the country format was a headline-worthy event, but if this song isn't going to do more than top 40 at radio it almost seems like "Love Is Your Name" just wasted chart space for a week. I'm frankly disappointed in this song. Knowing how big a rock fan Scott Borchetta is, I would have expected his expertise could have led Steven Tyler to find a better single for his first country release. I'm actually surprised we didn't get something that had more rock crossover potential.

That's annoying though, I think iheartradio and clear channel deals are stupid to begin with, but why would you waste it on a man who has put out one country song, is around 70 years old and isn't going anywhere with it. That just takes spins away from songs that wil do something or possibly could do something but now have to wait. Stupid!

Like this song a lot. I've always been a fan of Tyler's voice, and the melody to this is just ear candy for me.

Seems to have fallen out of the Country MB Top 50 this morning. Replaced by Kick The Dust Up (not a surprise there).

Seems to have fallen out of the Country MB Top 50 this morning. Replaced by Kick The Dust Up (not a surprise there). Actually it was replaced by Drake White. It's not a surprise Steven Tyler fell out of the top 50 since nearly all of his audience came from that first day of airplay last week.

Has a song ever fallen completely off the chart after its first week? How much did it lose this week?

Has a song ever fallen completely off the chart after its first week? How much did it lose this week? Songs that debut in the 50's can easily be knocked off the chart after one week, but if you were referring to songs that debut really high due to some inflated first-week airplay and then lose their footing without those spins the following week, I don't think it's happened before. I think it'd be kind of amusing if this song's entire chart run ended up being: 33, but I think even if this does fall off the Billboard chart it'll eventually re-enter and spend some time in the 50's and 40's before falling off again.
