Today's update wasn't very kind to this song. It only got 20 spins yesterday. If things don't improve, I imagine it may even fall right off the charts after its big debut this week. Well, that's exactly what happened. #33 debut last week, gone this week. I wonder if it will be back, or if it's entire chart run will consist of a single week at #33

I don't have high hopes for this song. Steven, why not release something more traditional? I'll believe you are serious about Country music when that happens.

The label isn't even really promoting this. I mean, aside from sending it to radio and giving it a few ads, I don't think the Dot Records promotion team is really doing anything with this. They never even gave it an adds date. It's more akin to a buzz single than to a typical country radio single.

Getting close to finishing up my chart projections, and I noticed that the Cumulus block has added this one this week. Each station has given Steven his first 3-4 spins over the last week.

I hate that people say country is the new rock. No, it isn't. It's the new rap/dance or whatever. I think he's another one of these people who have been fooled by the belief that country is becoming popular because people are giving it a chance. Its become popular because of the "Bro" movement. Tyler is far from a "bro".

Why did this shoot up on iTunes? It's #55 all-genre according to kworb.net.

Why did this shoot up on iTunes? It's #55 all-genre according to kworb.net. The video was released over the weekend :) I'm pretty sure that's what caused it to shoot up the iTunes chart -- I noticed the other day that the video was suddenly in the top 10 on the iTunes country video chart, and the song has bounded up as well.

This song was actually a lot better than I expected. I'm surprised it's not doing better than it is.

This song was actually a lot better than I expected. I'm surprised it's not doing better than it is. Steven is 67 years old and this song never got an add date or much buildup, prior to its release. The fact this song debuted high but fell drastically is exactly what should have been expected. Radio stations hear Steven Tyler has a country song, so they give it the old "curiosity spin" the day its released, but then the allure wears off and it settles back down the chart and struggles. I don't expect any of Steven's country singles to ever crack the top 30.

I think if they did this could easily be in the top 10 eventually.

I think if they did this could easily be in the top 10 eventually. I guess we just disagree on this. I think Steven sounds rough on this. Perhaps that's just me not caring for his vocals but I really don't think any song he sings can climb for a top 10 peak. If I ran a station, there would be way too many other younger artists, with more ties to country music that I would chance on adding to my rotation than somebody like Steven Tyler. I understand he's had a massive amount of success in rock but his vocals are just suited for country radio. To each their own though in regards to enjoying his vocals. I would also add that Scott Borchetta is a huge rock music fan and he wants to open a rock division of BMLG (or at least that's what he has stated in the past, not sure if that still rings true) and the Motley Crue tribute album is a sign of that. The signing of Steven Tyler is more of an appeasing to Steven's desire to try something different and for Borchetta to appease the rock fan inside of him. I really don't believe Dot Records and BMLG expects Steven's singles to explode at radio. Some decent airplay, yes, but I really think that Steven Tyler's radio success will be limited at best.

I actually think this song is alright and I wouldn't mind if it had gotten a full push. I've always been a fan of Steven's vocals.

This re-enters on Hot Country Songs, but it looks like it technically went recurrent on Country Airplay. It didn't have a bullet on either of the last 2 charts. Last week it was #60 with 684k in audience, down 200k from the week before. And tonight it's nowhere to be found, not even in New & Active, which means that it didn't bullet for the 3rd week in a row.
However, it's plain that Dot isn't done with this one. They never gave it an adds date (which, to me, means that they're not planning on giving it a full push), but they do have a big ad for it in Country Aircheck Weekly noting its surge in streams, as well as the 5 new adds it got from the Mediabase panel. And of course the video just came out.
I'm thinking that this is the one 'single' that they'll use to promote the album. I'd be surprised if they released another track to radio prior to the album release, because it probably won't do any more than this one has and I think BMLG knows that. It doesn't really matter though, because the album will most likely sell fairly well even without much country radio airplay, and in the end that's all that matters to a label.

I think this would have done better, or any song with him for that matter, if it were a collaboration. His name is big enough where people are interested, but within country music, I don't think fans were generally interested. Had he collaborated with someone relatively well known in country music, I think it could have increased interest and gained a little more airplay... Just a thought, I could be completely off base.

According to the BMLG ad in Aircheck this track generated a volume of 5.8M streams (video views)! Quite impressive!

As Dr. Alternative posted, "Love Is Your Name" is the Hot Shot Debut at #75 on the Hot 100 this week. It is Steven's 2nd appearance on the chart as a solo artist and his first since 2011, when "(It) Feels So Good" entered and peaked at #35.

The video premiere also helps "Love Is Your Name" debut at #43 on Streaming Songs - which is not an easy chart for a country song to chart on (this week it's the only country song on the entire 50-song chart).

Just a note: Only a handful of country superstar songs with added crossover and viral videos have ever made the National Top 50. On regular weeks the country streaming volume is (still) too low.

That has ALL to do with the curiosity of Aerosmith's front man releasing a solo single and less to do with the "country" part. The digital sales went off the chain this week too.

I'm pretty sure everyone already knows and is in full agreeance with this. The fact that Steven Tyler's song did what almost no actual big country hit could do makes it pretty obvious that it had nothing to do with it being "country."

Steven Tyler can claim his first #1 on the country streaming chart. I'm sure Joel Whitburn will have a book out on that.

Westwood One added "Love Is Your Name" this week, which has resulted in over 1.0 million in audience gains over the past seven days. That also helped Steven re-crack the MB top 50 rolling chart for the first time since debuting at #45 in May.

"Love Is Your Name" lost 875k in audience this week, although a chunk of that is from losing spins on Westwood One's stations. Either way, Steven's song went without a bullet on MB last week and I expect this one to be done fairly shortly, if it isn't already.
