Label dropped her but is releasing the album anyway and she is going indie. That is the smartest decision that could be made at this point. I'm honestly saddened yet fascinated by how quickly her mainstream career declined; it needs to be a case study.

I mean...I am just speculating at this point but definitely wouldn't be a surprise. I'm actually surprised she got the few hits she did (though not one solo). She seemed destined to be a 1-hit wonder/novelty act and then with her tone-deaf social media presence...well...that certainly didn't help. Not everyone has hits though. She should be proud.

Work wasn't a hit in the traditional sense, but it sold super well

I'm honestly saddened yet fascinated by how quickly her mainstream career declined; it needs to be a case study. The smartest decision would've been Death Jam and Team Iggy getting their shit together a long time ago. They got lucky the stars aligned in 2014 if anything, the case study needs to focus on the terrible (campaign) moves they've been doing even before Fancy's demo was a thing like it's been discussed in these threads countless times and I can start listing them again. But I'm so over it at this point, I don't know how she isn't either. Maybe that guy from Island who originally signed her during the Island Def Jam days and was helping her with feats earlier this year will hook a bitch up but I'm still a bit doubtful DJ just let Iggy go like that, I'd see them more easily blocking her from releasing and keeping her in major label purgatory forever. I mean she did sign a multiple album deal and her only album era so far did pretty well even if they can't push another one out with their "attempts"... If they did then she's pretty lucky and props to them for allowing her to at least be able to keep dropping music by herself if she wants to without having to go through that whole system. She does make it seem like there's big changes in terms of who/how she releases music from now on, then again I don't trust her messy contradicting ass either.

Don't see her going indie I see her with her own imprint doing all the legwork and a major label providing distribution. Since she's media and radio poison at this point, that's the only way I can see any album era of hers gaining traction and actually getting released.

Media and radio poison? What happened? The hip-hop culture backlash combined with her extended hiatus led to radio barely supporting her single and she said on Twitter that Def Jam was at a loss on what to do because she can't get interviews and promo opportunities since media "doesn't fukc with her" anymore.

I knew her hip hop career was pretty much dead but didn't know the media had turned on her. I was never really a fan of her attitude. I guess she burned a lot of bridges. The people you see on the way up are the same ones you see on the way down.
I heard a couple of her songs since that Fancy era. They weren't bad.

She needed to give "the media" a reason to support her again and win them over but her hard head's prevented that. Not to mention the non-existent PR damage throughout the mess as also discussed in these threads plenty times before. The fact she isn't broke anymore probably doesn't help either. She does have opportunities, they're just most likely not the ones she wants so she doesn't bother for the most part.
I feel like the Switch video mess per example was all on her and I don't care if she lies about it in the future saying how she was blocked, she makes things harder than they should be for herself and seems to chose the messiest path possible most of the time literally ever since I've been following her/the Pu$$y days, it's like she loves drama and of course that was highlighted more when she was being super successful. I have a difficult time believing she'd ever manage to properly pull through with a clean project rollout if she was independent again as well.

So when it was negotiated that Steve Bartels would leave his CEO position at Def Jam she somehow had the option to leave as well and is apparently already with a new label. She made it sound like she's starting from scratch with a complete new team around her, so no more Digital Distortion and the 3 singles won't be a part of it either I guess.

I love how she's unafraid to take the piss out of herself. I'm still rooting for her.

I was wondering why the DD Wikipedia article had been removed. Switch was a good song, too bad that wasn't enough to be a hit

I had no idea she couldn't book interviews anymore...I can understand urban stations/blogs etc not wanting to but why not the white media? They're usually pretty clueless with stuff going on in the urban/hip-hop community so it's weird that they would just shun her like that.

They're usually pretty clueless with stuff going on in the urban/hip-hop community so it's weird that they would just shun her like that. Don't believe more than half of what she says. Just like her bs excuses for the Switch video. It's actually funny (and doesn't necessarily mean anything) but right after she said that some guy from Billboard immediately replied w/ this: Like I was saying in one of my previous posts she can book promo even if it's not the biggest stuff ever, she just doesn't seem to care that much and probably isn't willing to grind to the top again. I highly doubt she couldn't have easily been to the Breakfast Club if she wanted again all these years per example, she just doesn't. She doesn't attend red carpets unless she's performing or doing something at the event cuz she says it's lame and doesn't like it. And many other silly things you kinda need to do to put yourself out there. I don't even think being with a new label will change anything, Death Jam has always been useless (and especially during this era cuz I do believe things obviously aren't as easy for her in terms of opportunities like in 2014/15) but most of it is up to her and a lot of little things show she hasn't changed her mentality nor is willing to.

From day 1 she has always had this attitude of entitlement. Like no, you dont get to jack hip hop culture and aethetics and claim you struggled so hard. Bitch you were gaming the visa waiver program, stop acting like you had some hard knock immgrant experience. Everything about her is so fake. She could have been huge but it was clear from the jump she was a fake

I'd say the fact she went through so much shit in the past is most likely why she's over it and feeling like she has to do almost everything all over again is unappealing in a way now that she's done well for herself in life (financially speaking). And ahh the likes of Clueless and Kill Bill.. such landmarks of classic hip hop aesthetic! drag ha.

She followed Island (label as predicted) and Philymack/Roc Nation (they have a joint management deal) on twitter yesterday so that's prob it.
