Off Mediabase "Taking Off" section. The song's actualy 2 years old, but even now, I would love for this to smash on Alt. I've been charting this band for a while now, cuz of the epic Freddie Mercury style vocals.

Vocalist reminds me a bit of Billy Talent.

This will be the next iHeartRadio On The Verge selection at Alt radio, Adam (UTR) tells me (via AllAccess email).

Top 50 on Active: 54 49 THE STRUTS Could Have Been Me 142 96 46 0.295 Interesting. Didn't see that coming. I'm a big fan of this song, though. Definitely has a Queen-ish sound to it, especially in the vocals. I think this song could easily become the "I Believe in a Thing Called Love" of the 2010s (as far as the glam-y appearance and style go). I'm calling this to peak in the mid-teens on Alt and maybe just scratching the top 30 on Active.

Let's see what formatt gives it wings? I'm guessing Active might warm up to it, since the Alt chart is looking mighty overcorowded with little chance of new songs moving up, especially with that Folky wave of songs invading the top 20 and 10.

Top 40 on Active: 51 40 THE STRUTS Could Have Been Me 193 131 62 0.445 Interesting to see on which chart it peaks higher. It's around the same position on both right? I'm still betting on Active?

Assuming alternative will be higher owing to the OTV deal

this song annoys me, wish it would stay over at Active & leave Alternative alone...OTV huh? that explains its sudden huge jump in spins

I'm still not sure how I feel about this, I still think it's some really weird mix of MCR and generic 80s hair. It is cool to see a song move up active and alternative at the same time though...and one that makes sense to do so.

My above post stands, but I still kinda wish it was Wolf Alice who coulda did what this is doing on both formats.

If anything this reminds me more of The Darkness and, by extension, mid-70s glam rock than it does Queen or 2000s pop punk. That said, I can't really get into it.

I'm actually quite digging this one. Has a lot of fast-paced energy that I usually enjoy in songs, although the pronounced British accent could've been toned down a little. Definitely better than "Moaning Lisa Smile". Wouldn't mind seeing this do well.

Freddy mercury is one Luke Spiller top influences So What's the difference between mid 70's Glam Rock and Queen if you don't mind me asking?

I suppose Queen could be considered a glam rock band (though I tend to lump them more on the hard rock side), but by 70s glam rock I'm referring more to bands like T. Rex, The Sweet, etc.

This is great. Unfortunately, I feel like this band will suffer the same fate as other bands that chart on both charts. They chart slightly higher on active and then alternative ditches them after the first single and they become an active-only band, until eventually having everything flop there.
