He's signed to BBR Music so either they'll pick this up or pull something from the forthcoming full length. Check that, they're going to pick up this as they call it his "Brand new single." He won't be back-burnered because no way Granger does a deal like this otherwise. From Music Row: dm2081... Now this one has a fighting chance to be selected as the next "On The Verge" artist/song with Granger hooking on with Broken Bow.

Amazing news! Seriously though, I think this song will blow up now. OTV treatment would be great, but it might not even need it. I think this song will satisfy those who miss the mid-late 2000's country sound, and I expect this to sell well. The chorus is very catchy on this one. C'mon OTV, make the right choice!

It's about time a major label took a chance on Granger Smith, a hugely successful touring act.

It's about time a major label took a chance on Granger Smith, a hugely successful touring act. I actually think Granger likely had an opportunity or two to latch on with a label in the past but he is hell bent on recording and releasing music the way he wants to, so I'm sure this was a picture perfect scenario for him. BBR will accommodate Granger and get his music out there quickly.

Oh my! This guy is hot! LOL!!! And looks like Chuck Wicks Anyway, nice ditty. I remember his name, so I might have listened to him before, but can't remember. The EP is a good one, and I hope he doesn't end up with no promo. If the songs are going to appear on his full length, chances are this song has a chance to become a minor hit at least, right? edit - Oops, sorry, I didn't know there was a second page jajajajaja!

Anyone else think the melody here sounds exactly like Runnin' Out Of Moonlight?

Anyone else think the melody here sounds exactly like Runnin' Out Of Moonlight? I definitely hear it because of the "woahs" or "ohhhs" or whatever you want to call them, how they are so prevalent in the chorus of both songs.

Awesome that he got signed to a bigger label! Hope this can start to turn into something of a hit on the country charts now. I'm not exactly crazy about this song though I appreciate that it at least is catchy and actually sounds country, which is pretty good for country music in 2015, but he's very likable and I have a feeling I'll enjoy hearing more of his music. <3

People who don't know Granger certainly know his "alter ego" Earl Dibbles, Jr.

People who don't know Granger certainly know his "alter ego" Earl Dibbles, Jr. It's almost a shame that Earl Dibbles is more widely known than Granger, because Granger, to me, is basically the most ready made mainstream star in "Texas country". Given, it's still him, but I just wish he was more acclaimed for his stellar discography.

Him AND Aaron Watson Agreed, I feel the production on Granger's music is more popular sounding than his, but Watson has all the tools to be a big player in Country music imo.

"Backroad Song" got 4 new adds this week and all four of them are in the top 32 markets in the country, including San Antonio and Minneapolis (KEEY), which are big stations.

When is this song going to start being promoted by Broken Bow? If it already is when did they start promoting it?

When is this song going to start being promoted by Broken Bow? If it already is when did they start promoting it? Broken Bow might give this one a new add date soon but stations will be adding this now that Granger is with Broken Bow (as evidence by the 4 new adds this week). This song is basically new to most country listeners outside of Texas so there's plenty of time for this song to get set up to succeed.

I really like this song. The songwriting is classic Granger but the production is very modern compared to his older stuff. Because of the production, I think this has the potential to be a huge hit.

Just to clarify, Granger has been assigned to Wheelhouse Records, so I'm assuming they will have a promo team working Granger's stuff to radio (BBMG just announced the new imprint on Monday). Broken Bow see's Granger as having potential to have hits at mainstream radio and that's why they signed him. He has a huge underground following already and this song certainly fits into what becomes hit records on country radio.

Folks, for what it's worth, the account stirring things up was an account established in violation of Pulse rules, and it has been shut down. None of which is to contradict the very good points made in the two posts above mine here about On the Verge speculation being a valid and frequent topic here and about the importance of elaborating on our opinions for the sake of advancing conversation.

Yeah, I think this'll be picked for OTV. All the early starters are iHeartMedia stations, which accounted for like a million audience impressions last week. This is also considerably more radio-friendly than any other new artists' current singles. It's right up radio's alley, even if I personally find this to be a lame knock-off of bro-country.

Going by everything I've seen happen the past few days, I'd be pretty surprised if "Backroad Song" wasn't the next OTV selection. The top 6 spin leaders are all iHeartMedia stations, with every one except WUBL in Atlanta (who has been the one non-Texas station spinning this one for weeks now) adding/converting Granger's song at the same rate. Plus, Wheelhouse gives this one an adds date this week (October 5th).
I think they might take this slow in terms of announcing it officially (which is overdue by now), with perhaps an announcement next week or the week after but all signs are pointing this song's way.

Wheelhouse Records/BBMG re-shipped this to radio today through Play Mpe.
