Is the chorus repeating "f*cka" or is it saying "f*ck her"? There's a lyric video... It wouldn't be the first time a lyric video has slightly off lyrics...

Is the chorus repeating "f*cka" or is it saying "f*ck her"? Or for the gays..."fuck ha".

I love this song! I think it's super catchy and will hopefully be a summer hit. :)

As long as Adam is on the Voice, they will be pumping out the hits.Might not be the best music by them, but, as long as pop radio plays them, is all that matters to them.

Awful, but what else is new for Maroon 5. This will be massive.

Love the lyric video. I'm glad they are atttempting to put out 'edgier' pop. M5 was almost back to HAC after Daylight, LS and Maps. Animals put them back on track and Sugar became a viral sensation - this is a good choice because it will extend the life of this project all the way through early next year. They'll mine at least two more singles of V after this smashes. IWAY is a perfect fall single and can get launched when TV returns in fall.

I love this. On first listen it's easily my favorite from them since at least "Payphone". This is so much better than "It Was Always You" so I'm glad that they went with it.

LOL. I could not make it past the first verse and chorus combo. Huge fan of M5 but this is dreadful in every possible way. Biggest offense: it's not remotely catchy. Their worst song period and I never want to hear it again.

I can usually take or leave M5, but this is atrocious.
I think the chorus might be one of the worst things I've ever heard. Yikes.

I'm actually surprised how much I enjoy this song the more I listen to it. After hearing the clip a few days ago, I didn't hate it, but I wasn't blown away.
It has a definite vibe of its own.
I like how he says "f****r" toward the end of the song, with the falsetto in the background (around 3:20). Probably the most delicate sounding use of the word "f****r" in the history of music, lol.

They seriously tacked on just ONE new song and it's not even that great? Overexposed indeed!

At least Adam's voice isn't so annoying in this. I believe it's a grower too.

Their worst song period and I never want to hear it again. Yep, dont care how many 'deals', controversy etc etc..total try hard stinker. Adam/M5 really need a year or two or even three (even better) to go away, recharge and stop believing their own hype. Makes the Britney/Iggy song sound like the song of the summer/ #1 for 10 weeks lol. So..Britney/Iggy flopped, new Maroon 5 I expect the usual front loaded sh*t then it to plummet back into the swamp where it came out of lol. As of now only Taylor or Cheerleader are looking like the only threat to See You Again lol.

Don't you think you're overreacting? Like seriously... Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it doesn't deserve to succeed. Geez.

I think this is horrible. I am all for use of colorful language, but it's so obvious that they were trying to be edgy but failed. "Ohhhh look at us, we're using the f-word, oh fuck yeah!! Suck it bitches!" It's useless because it has to be edited to be played on radio.

Normally, I don't bash an artist/band for a horrible song (I just ignore it and/or let it go eventually), but this right here is an exception. You are SPOT ON with that post.

This is great. Much better choice than IWAY. This is gonna be huge this summer. I love the mid-80s electro vibe, might be my favorite since OMN.

OMG, this is hands down the single worst song they've ever recorded, and it's not even close. Nevermind the fact that the lyrics are atrocious and disjointed, but where's the melody? Where's the catchiness? Did they even spend 5 minutes making this song? It's just abysmal. They are insanely lucky they're on such a hot streak or this would be DOA. I have a hard time believing it will hit as it is. As I've made clear, I'm no big ambassador of IWAY but that was a million times more deserving of release than this.

Their first single on their second album had F-bombs and a GD in it. Their first single on their 4th album had F-bombs and sh*ts in the chorus. Their most recent single has a sh*t in the bridge. But, please tell us more about how THIS time, and ONLY THIS time, the swearing is suddenly inauthentic and forced. Lol, some of you act like you've never heard a Maroon 5 single before. They've been swearing in singles since day 1, and no one had a problem with it then.

I just heard the censored version on the radio when I was flipping through the dial and the "aha" in place of "f***er" sounds random, like it was recorded separately and then substituted in.

Oh, jeez. xykes already covered the nontroversy that is vulgarity in a Maroon 5 song, but it's not like Levine and Shellback invented the phrase "hurt like a motherf***er" either, if that's what you find falsely "edgy" - a quick Google search reveals its use in a movie from 1992 and the exact connotation in a Wiktionary definition. And it's also not new for radio edits to censor explicit lyrics by substituting words or sound effects - "Payphone" also changed a line to remove the same word in its radio edit. Dislike the song all you want, but to blame it on the use of swear words or censors now is somewhat poor reasoning. I also wouldn't call Maroon 5 edgy now after eight hit singles of pretty safe, radio-friendly material - it's not like this is a huge departure for them.
I'll also say I had no trouble playing the melody of this song on my trombone today - sure, the chorus only has one real repeated line with two notes (maybe three if you consider the second syllable in "gonna" as going down from an E to a D), but that's still a melody, albeit not a particularly interesting one; beyond that, I'd actually say the melody in the verses — which uses lots of third intervals (and goes up to the leading tone but then goes back down without reaching up to the tonic, which I personally enjoy in general), and its juxtaposition with the scalar prechorus melody — is decently interesting by contrast.
(sorry, we just never have a good reason to talk theory at all here and pop music can be interesting too!)
