I like this song.So catchy.I find myself playing it on repeat. The CDQ Itunes version sounds better than the leaked version from yesterday. Doesn't beat last summer's song "Maps" from them. But will do from them.

The chorus is kinda underwhelming after two listens, but I'm sure it grows. That pre-chorus is pure gold. That's what sold me.

My only problem is the lyrics of the verses. The rest is great and catchy.

I love it, the chorus is super catchy and the verses are alright. My favourite M5 single since "One More Night".

I had this discussion with someone around the Payphone about the power of bad language in a Pop song and how it can really add bite, or irony, or a juxtaposition to it. I have no problem with it.
F*ck You for instance is funny, bold, and cocky...Forget You is fangless and Glee-y.
It's like in life actually, I don't cuss much, but when I do it has all the more impact to those that know me because they know I'm feeling all kinds of strongly about something.
Have never had a problem when M5 do it and don't here.

Just heard this on the radio for the first time yesterday, and really liked it! I hope this doesn't burnout too quickly for me though because it's sure to get tons of airplay.

The only thing that bothers me is that he says 'nasty' instead of 'nasteh' and kind of ruins the flow of an otherwise ear-pleasing, perfectly stupid lyric pattern.

I can't seem to get into this. Maybe it will grow on me? I'm sure it will be massive given that it is Maroon 5.

Sonically I like this but melodically it does very little for me.

Hmmm...yeah...after a couple of listens, I'm not hearing why this was so rush-release-worthy. The chorus is especially underwhelming. Did they really feel like they had to have a specifically summer-themed song on the radio this summer? IIRC, there have been plenty of summer smashes in recent years that didn't actually reference summer in the lyrics.
Granted, I went into this slightly bitter that all the tracks I enjoy on V were deemed unworthy ("It Was Always You", "New Love", "In Your Pocket", "Unkiss Me.") Since it looks like this is the only new track they're adding to the album, hopefully we'll get a fifth single (or more.)

Well, I love it. Maroon 5 has become one of my favorite go-to's for fun, disposable pop music, and they didn't let me down with this song. I hope it smashes.

This is officially the first Maroon 5 song that I've played out of my own freewill since.. I don't even know! Love it! On repeat.
Hot 100 #1 is my prediction now.

Wow...Their BEST track since "One More Night" & we saw the damage that single did
Levine does like to swear though...I'm glad he's finally allowed the rest of the 5 to do it too

This is so melodically catchy that I almost couldn't fathom how even just a handful of people can't hear it. But then, the lyrics are such nonsensical gibberish that I almost understand how one can completely miss the catchiness for trying so hard to concentrate on and then decipher the words. What is this about? I have narrowed it down to
1. hot girl that Adam wants to bone, but can't because she is too busy being superficial to give him the time of day 2. hot but superficial girl that Adam keeps boning even though he knows she's dumb as a box of rocks and only using him for his money/status 3. hot but superficial girl who thinks she's cool, but actually looks really try-hard and nasty 4. hot groupie/gold digger who chases stars and sips champagne on the beach
At least three of these things are contradictory to each other. And none of these things explain why this summer's gonna hurt like a motherfuckhaaa.
Also I didn't realize that so many people on Pulse were so passionate about IWAY...I didn't realize that many people on Pulse were passionate about M5 at all.
My thoughts on how Adam swearing in Payphone made the song feel more natural for M5 is one of my more forgotten essays, but suffice to say this topic isn't novel at all for them. M5 curses, it is really no big deal one way or the other. This song, at most, is simply guilty of having a fantastic punchline of a hook, to which they rushed some verses onto the paper instead of taking the time to actually write a cohesively themed song. I'll bop my head to this, but it's a terrible waste of a great melody, to be honest.

I think it's basically #1 and #3.
Girl isn't very smart, isn't very cool, and is very superficial. But, singer still finds her attractive.
The summer's gonna hurt because he'll be seeing her all the time (at the beach, dancing badly at clubs/parties, being her hot, stupid self)...but she's so popular and aloof that he doesn't stand a chance of ever being with her.
He might have briefly been with her in he past, but if so, it clearly didn't work out.

Should be another big big hit for them.
I don't love it as much as the singles from the last era though.

Can't stand Adam..but this song is fantastic at first listen! Which is unusual for me. This will clearly be 1 of the songs of the Summer! Hands down!
No surprise about the number of 'adds' its going to be great summer!

The early iTunes performance is actually a bit disgraceful for a brand new M5 song. Even Sugar did much better out of the gate as a 3rd single. Looks like I'm not the only one not here for this. Won't be surprised if this breaks their smash hit streak (the early radio performance doesn't mean much given the deal).

This is so so so so good. It's better than both of their last 2 albums, hands down. It's the closest we've gotten to pre-Overexposed M5, and I'm really happy about that. In full support of the dents this is going to make on the charts this summer.

This is definitely way more tolerable than Sugar. That one just annoyed me to no end To no end!!! I also agree that it's about a girl who is annoying and superficial, but what I also got was that he likes her anyway and is almost embarrassed about it? But he's going to bang her anyway and his friends will silently judge him for it, and he also knows he's better than that, but knows they will hook up anyway. so that's why this summers gonna hurt like a mother. Some people have real problems, Adam! (And I know i was totally reaching with that interpretation but I don't care)
