This isn't remarkable, by any stretch, but so much better than Invisible and Tattoo It's funny...I'm the exact opposite. I'll freely admit to being a sucker for "Invisible" due to its subject matter, but "Tattoo" was much catchier than this is. This isn't bad per se, but I find it really just "eh". I don't feel strongly about it either way.

I really liked "Tattoo," but I think this one is catchier for me. Even though it wasn't a good choice for radio, especially as a lead single of all things, "Invisible" is probably my favorite of Hunter Hayes' radio releases.
But I think this is a very strong, radio-friendly single and I'm hoping that it turns into a much bigger hit than his last three singles. I really like the intro and the chorus is just pure ear candy. <3

Wow, why did this fall all the way to #50? Inflated debuts don't usually have THAT big a hangover the week after.

Wow, why did this fall all the way to #50? Inflated debuts don't usually have THAT big a hangover the week after. I think the world premieres are just starting to lose some of their excitement and ability to generate early buzz since they've become so common. Back when these first started, it seems more stations were inclined to add the song into regular rotation immediately after the world premiere, under the impression that the big first day and huge iTunes debut that usually accompanies an IHM world premiere, were signs of the single being a huge hit. However, it seems lately stations have started to just spin the song the required number of times for the world premiere day and then wait until the official add date (usually a week or two after the world premiere) to decide whether they will add the song to regular rotation. A second factor in the big hangover, of course, is that the bottom of the chart is really backlogged and there are a lot of new songs for radio stations to choose from right now. I still expect "21" to be a pretty big hit on the charts, although I expect this may have a slower and steadier rise up the charts (25-30 weeks), since Hunter Hayes is no A-list star at country radio and needs to recover his momentum after a bad sophomore slump. I still need to see how this does on the listener feedback surveys, though. Hunter hasn't always had the best research in the past and this does strike me as a song that could yield some negative research.

21 debuts at #24 on the digital songs chart with 14,000 sold. Congratulations, Hunter Hayes!

"21" is the most added song on MB this week with 44 adds.
That means "21" was added by 86 stations by impact day.

This is a song featuring Lady antebellum. I guess it's from the upcoming album or a part of the digital release thing his label is testing out....

That new song with Lady Antebellum is pretty solid. I think that'd be a great second single, especially if "Long Stretch of Love" peters out and they take a little downtime from country radio between the 747 project and whatever's next. I could see "Where It All Begins" being a nice career-boost for both acts involved. "21" will probably be on the charts for quite awhile though, so who knows.

I'm a Hunter Hayes fan but my gosh....
This makes "Hell of a Night" and "Love You Like That" look like earth shattering songs. This is his lead single? I almost fell asleep halfway through the song. It's so painfully boring, I don't really have much else to say..

Not a bad song lyrically, but Hunter is way too mannered and young sounding to really pull it off. He sounds like he HASN'T turned 21 yet.

I haven't read much from Country Perspective, but a quick look at the most recent post on the front page shows what I had already assumed, which is that they give scathing reviews of almost everything. It's like the opposite of Roughstock over there.

They're actually not scathing with all of their reviews. I haven't heard this song so I can't speak for that review, but I feel that they're honest on their reviews for the most part. They're simply calling the crap out for what it is. It's an opinion, and lately it seems like if you have one on Pulse that you're just a "hater". Whatever, if this place wants to be a fan board then I'm out.

Whatever, if this place wants to be a fan board then I'm out. 1) They only gave three albums currently charting in the Top 25 of the country charts genuinely good grades, which seems unusually high is all I'm saying. And I just really disagree with several of their reviews personally. 2) This isn't about you or the nature of Pulse, so I'm not sure why you're making a post like this and victimizing yourself. I saw in another thread the other day where some troll got hostile with you and told you to "get a life" but that was quickly shut down by jhomes87 and his comments are in no way representative of the Pulse community.

Whoa. this has been out for a month?! holy crap. bomb... Not saying this to be mean, but do you follow the country charts? This very well could, "bomb" but it's way too early to tell now. Being out for a month on the country charts is nothing.

I meant in the terms of him being young and fairly popular with the "it" crowd. I haven't heard much about him lately.

After 3 years of being on the road and having sizable hits, Hunter was due for some down time to get away. Artists aren't energizer bunnies. They need personal time to chill too. Hunter just had his for most of the last 6-8 months or so, although he still played dates.

It's like the opposite of Roughstock over there. Funny thing is that we don't even really do reviews anymore. Haven't for over a year. I meant in the terms of him being young and fairly popular with the "it" crowd. I haven't heard much about him lately. Well, he had a sophomore slump,of an album but really never went anywhere.

Tbh I'm not sure this song will help Hunter Hayes much. It is really repetitive and the production is all over the place but it still makes for a great summer song.

This article is obviously biased... ???? From what I can tell, Country Perspective, as well as "Farce the Music" and "Saving Country Music" are blogs run by a small group of hardcore traditional country music fans who won't give any song that isn't very far on the traditional end of the spectrum a chance, and only seek to push their agendas rather than have honest and reasonable discussions about what type of music is best for the country format's future. The reviews I have read are not professionally written and thrive on cheap shots, name-calling, etc. rather than criticizing the actual content of the songs. Obviously there's nothing wrong with an opinion but when your review consists of just teasing Hunter Hayes for seeming juvenile or trying to tailor-make his lyrics for the demographic that is most likely to buy his music (which imo is totally reasonable), you lose credibility as a site that encourages "honest and forthright" discussion and become nothing more than an entertainment site for people who already agree with you. However, I wouldn't lose any sleep over this review, as I believe when you add up the people running all three of the blogs I've mentioned, you get a grand total of a mere five unhappy traditionalists.

Just released to Spotify today! I really like this one a lot! Something about it just seems so breezy and carefree when listening to it. Also he nailed production on this especially to go along with that strong chrous! Thoughts?!

Love seeing good responses to his music :) He did a Periscope of him getting blood drawn for his SleevesUp campaign today. While I'm ineligible for that and wouldn't participate even if I was, I think it's a great cause.

I have a feeling that Hunter might be a better artist after he hits puberty.
