^Like Luke Bryan needs it. Oh well. Buffalo*: what was the fastest ascent to #1 on the Billboard airplay chart? Was thinking whether Luke Bryan could beat the current record.

Unless he debuts at #1 like Garth Brooks. Just off the top of my head, I think that would be Alan Jackson's Where Were You When The World Stopped Turning. Five weeks there.

So basically, Luke will have two songs on the chart for the time being starting Wednesday. Great.

Didn't Daryl Worley's "Have You Forgotten?" take only four weeks to reach #1? I don't see this taking any fewer than 10-12 weeks to reach #1, though, since Universal will probably try to push "Baby Be My Love Song," "Love You Like That," and "Girl Crush" to #1 first. So basically, Luke will have two songs on the chart for the time being starting Wednesday. Great. It's more likely that "Games" will now fall off the chart and that radio stations were using that as a placeholder while waiting for a new Luke Bryan single, so as other posters have noted, for songs at the bottom of the chart, there will be a net gain of 0 spaces between "Games" going off and "Kick the Dust Up" debuting, which I guess could be looked at as a good thing for a lot of newer artists who have been struggling to move up.

Unfortunately "More Than A Memory" squashes any fun in comparing ascents to the top. In 2007, Kenny reached #1 in eight weeks with both "Never Wanted Nothing More" and "Don't Blink." So basically, Luke will have two songs on the chart for the time being starting Wednesday. Great. "Games" will stall out once "Kick The Dust Up" debuts.

Seriously Luke? This is a bunch of bullcrap. Now we all know he's trying to sell out. This is just sad.

Wow...this song sounds absolutely atrocious. I actually didn't mind some of the lyrics in the verses (mostly the lines about harvest season in a small town), but that chorus... His vocals, the production...yikes. This is embarrassingly bad. It makes actual hard-working people from the country look like redneck caricatures who would probably lose on Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?

Whoa. This song is worse than I originally thought it would be. Like the jhomes87 said, the production is awful and the instrumentation is just plain bad. The whole song sounds so awkward between Luke's vocals and progression in the verses. As bad as the chorus is, I think the verses might be worse. I can't believe, with all the great songs Luke has recorded before, and probably for this upcoming project, that this is what they landed on for the lead single. I know, it'll be a huge smash and is a party type summer anthem (he named the tour after it), but this is nails on a chalkboard to listen to.

Worse than I expected. I was at least looking for an up tempo catchy song I can listen to with the windows down (the case with My Kinda Night)....this is just boring. Zzzzz.

^Judging by the comments on the lyric video, it seems even some of Luke's loyal fans may be disappointed in this song, not because it's bro-country, but simply because it's not too catchy. This is just missing the "punch" that made songs like "That's My Kind of Night" and "Country Girl" popular. Also, it's noteworthy that this is only #54 on the iTunes all-genre chart, which, judging by Kworb's Pop Bars, is around 7% of what the #1 song is selling. This is still a strong showing, but not as great as what "Dirt" accomplished virtually overnight, which was reaching #1 on the iTunes all-genre chart. After a day of hourly spins on iHeartRadio stations and performances on Ellen and The Voice, this will surely reach the top 5 on iTunes by tonight, but that isn't anything particularly impressive for a Luke Bryan lead single. Even Chris Young's "I'm Comin' Over" managed a #3 peak with no airplay or promotion, so Luke had better at least get that high.

This has only been on iTunes for a few hours, though. Maybe "Dirt" did move up iTunes quicker but I don't think we can draw any conclusions about how this one will do just based off of what "Dirt" did, and of course most people are sleeping. It's 7 AM east coast, 4 AM Pacific time...most people are either sleeping or just getting up to start their day.
I am positive that this will skyrocket on iTunes throughout the day. Also, keep in mind that the #1 song on iTunes right now is really inflated because it's a brand new Taylor Swift song (yes, I know "Bad Blood" is on her current album, but the remix with Kendrick Lamar is a new version). If that hadn't just been released, and if "See You Again" was still #1, then Luke would have a much higher percentage on Kworb's pop bar chart. I don't know how much "Bad Blood" will sell this week, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's over 300k. "See You Again" was estimated to sell 216k for the week ending May 17.

Even my DJ'S at my local radio station thought this sounded bland and terrible. The one even said "haven't we heard this before?" Yeah buddy in about 37526 other "country" songs...... It'll be a huge hit, not because it's a good song (in fact it's quite atrocious) but because it's Luke.

I don't think it's as bad as some are saying, but it certainly is underwhelming for a lead single from the country artist who gets first pick of the litter when it comes to song selection. I can see this one growing on me, but it does sound pretty phoned in from Luke. He doesn't even sound like he's having that much fun singing on this one. Hopefully the second single will be much better than this.

I also don't think this is nearly as bad as you all think. I'm not sure what everyone was expecting considering the direction Luke went in from Tailgates to Crash. This just seems like a natural progression, although I must admit I hoped he would go back a little.
That being said, the song honestly has more of a country instrumentation than some of his other recent songs. I don't find the production to be any different than that on Spring Break or Crash My Party.
It's not as catchy, but listen to the chorus a few times and it'll stick. The "cup up, up up" rhyme bothers me immensely but other than that I'm not disappointed.

I wasnt even gonna comment on this because honestly it's not worth it. But what the heck
I must say, the "lets tear it up up" part after the chorus sounds so ridiculous. One of the most awkward lines ever in a song. It's an almost 40 yr old guy trying to sound hip
Anybody else just think the title of the song is just plain weird? Shouldn't it be "kick up the dust". Kick the dust up just doesn't roll off the tongue.
Anywho, this is exactly what I thought it'd be. Actually somewhat worse. Very disappointing for a lead single. Very typical for luke. I cannot believe this is the same guy that wrote good directions and sang some of those songs on his first 2 albums. Honestly does anyone in his crew/camp not speak up and say " guys this kinda sucks". I guess it's a bunch of old guys in Affliction t shirts bobbing their heads. To me someone close to him has to be at least whispering in his ear to step up his game. Or they all Must be deaf.

I like this as a whole because it's catchy But those lyrics are atrocious and the last part of the chorus is bad.

THis song is a joke. The fact that crap like this gets airplay over talented lesser artists who are working their butts off just to get ANY airplay just angers me.

After reading the comments before listening to the song, I was expecting much worse. Definitely not his best work, thats for sure. If you speed the song up to 1.25x I actually like it better! The end of the chorus is just weak. I think they could have found more words to rhyme with the word "up".

This truly is the worst song I have heard all year. He had done some bad stuff before but this easily is the worst. I am sick of him singing about corn fields, tractors, partying like he is still on spring break. What a joke of a song what the heck is a jar full of clear??
This is TERRIBLE. I can't believe it's a lead single.

I don't mind this at all. I think it's quite catchy actually. I don't like the "tear it up up" or " that's what's up up" because it sounds odd to me. I like this song though and I don't see the problem with the lyrics. They may be better than "That's My Kinda Night." Album details: tasteofcountry.com/luke-bryan-2015-album-kill-the-lights/

This makes "That's My Kind of Night" sound like a masterpiece. At least that song was interesting instrumentally. This is just an all-around snoozefest with terrible lyrics and obnoxious talking throughout parts of the song. Easily the worst thing he's ever released and I've hated at least half of all of his previous singles.

The "cup up, up up" rhyme bothers me immensely but other than that I'm not disappointed. I was expecting this kind of song from Luke because they've been very successful in his career (though he could release almost anything and it would be a hit). I'm not against party type songs and upbeat songs in general. It's the one's that are just mediocre to terrible that bother me. As much flack as "That's My Kind Of Night" got (and rightfully so IMO), at least it was an instant earworm and catchy. This song lacks flow and energy, which I thought would be the one guarantee with this song before I listened to the studio version. I'm listening to it as I type this and the verses are atrocious. It just feels so awkward and uninteresting. The melody is substandard and the vocal progression in those verses just don't sound appealing at all. The lyrics just add insult to injury in this case. I agree wholeheartedly with the "cup, up, up, up" rhyme. It's really not a rhyme if you just use the same word over and over again...

I cannot like zaclord 🌈's and tvoss20's comments enough. Ultimately, this redefines god-awful music. Now I'm thinking about "unfollowing" him on Facebook.

I hope my local radio stations play less Luke Bryan "Kick The Dust Up" and more Craig Campbell "Tomorrow Tonight". Wishful thinking, I'm sure.

ocmiller is right, song is 10x better when you speed it up to 1.25. otherwise the song just drags
