Surprised there wasn't a thread for this already. Promotion has only been picked up recently by Thirty Tigers, but "That Look" previously snuck into the Billboard top 60 (at #59) on March 30 (04/11 chart). There's an ad for Aaron in tonight's Country Aircheck Weekly. I don't believe "That Look" was ever given an official adds date but it is being promoted to radio by Thirty Tigers. It's worth nothing that, on the 04/11 chart, the 58-60 songs were RaeLynn's "For A Boy", Aaron's "That Look", and Logan Mize's "Can't Get Away From A Good Time". RaeLynn had 728k, Aaron had 714k, and Logan had 582k. Aaron has a higher audience total now (873k on tonight's Billboard chart) but that's currently not enough to crack the top 60. Logan has almost doubled his audience since late March and he's still on the outside looking in as well. "That Look" is incredibly radio-friendly to me and if Aaron were a bigger name on a bigger label, I'm sure it'd be a big hit. His voice reminds me a bit of Blake Shelton's, especially during the chorus. Aaron made headlines a few weeks back when his album The Underdog (from which "That Look" is the lead single) debuted at #1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart. It was noteworthy as Aaron became the first solo male artist of the Nielsen Music era (1991-present) to debut at #1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart with a self-released and independently distributed/promoted studio album. The Underdog sold 26,000 copies in its 1st week of release for the week of February 16-22. www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6487331/aaron-watson-top-country-albumsThe Underdog is Aaron's 12th studio album. He's been a big name in Texas for the past 15 years and has built up a fan-base by playing a lot of shows every year and also by doing quite well on a lot of Texas country stations.

I think this song is probably my favorite off the album and I agree that it is super radio friendly and could be a major hit if he had a bigger label's support.

Yeah there have been a lot of indie or smaller label songs lately that sound like big hits if they just had better promotion, and this is one of them. This song sounds vintage and a lot like 90's or early 2000's country, but yet doesn't sound too dated and out of place on today's radio. His voice is great on this, and the chorus is great to singalong to. Nice to see it's at least getting some moderate attention.

Thirty Tigers is brand new to the mainstream radio promo game so I don't see this doing much but I agree that he's a great artist and deserves some wider airplay.
His current Texas single is "Freight Train."

So, they weren't really promoting it to major market radio stations. AT ALL. Secondary stations smartly picked up on it and it did mildly well there. I Did talk with Aaron a long while back about how incredibly radio friendly this single was and how maybe he'll finally get that nationwide radio hit that seemed so obvious to me years ago.

Here's the add date announcement from AirCheck Country: Yes, to secondary radio markets and Texas. OK. Thanks for setting this straight. :) I believed that AirCheck Country was major markets, only! I'm getting the adds for the secondary market(s) from other sources... And in the end, for myself it doesn't make a difference, an add date is an add date, whether the record is being worked at radio or not. Anyways, this is such a great song!

We're cool! You have way more insight and background; I am just the odd consumer at the very end line of the country machinery! ;) And sometimes this buiness is a riddle wrapped up in an enigma! ;) Cheers, mate! I've heard this several times on the radio now and I completely love it. This is like a total throwback to the like Clay Walker in the '90s or something. Really, really catchy and the production, vocals, etc. are all so delightfully country. I see this hasn't done a whole lot (not surprised) on the mainstream country charts, so I'm glad that at least one of the radio stations here seems to like it because I'm loving hearing this one on radio. I need to check out his album.

I loved this album when I first listened to it, and well, um, I still love it. The thing is, I like traditional country as much as the pop music that is the new country, so it's always like "Well, Aaron might not doing much, but at least Kelsea is" lol I saw I don't know where, that Wildfire was a single as well. Is this true?

Billboard forgot to send this recurrent last night.
No bullet on July 6, no bullet on July 13, no bullet on July 20.
I love the song and I think it's really radio-friendly, but with Thirty Tigers' radio team still in its infancy, I didn't figure this would do much. It's great that a couple of the big market Texas stations really came to Aaron's support, though.

This song is incredible. Album is great. It's sad that such a high quality song can't make it on the airwaves. That said, it is encouraging to see the album do well on the national charts.
If this were sung by Blake, another easy #1.
I personally think Aaron sang the hell out of this song.

If this were sung by Blake, another easy #1. Yup, easily. In fact I'd say it would be one of his biggest hits too. This song is a hit waiting to happen IMO.

It definitely would've been a big hit in the 1990s for sure, regardless of who sang it, though yes, I do believe Blake Shelton certainly could have pulled off this song well enough (though prob not as well as Aaron did) and made it into a hit due to his star power.

This record currently getting tons of airplay where I live and rightly so. Very radio friendly. Love it. BTW, Mickey Guyton and Mo Pitney are big stars in these parts as well. I'll let you all guess the country radio environment I live in. Four stations playing country music in this big market. Very competitive where each station is trying to get an edge. In that circumstance, the listener wins and we're hearing records at the bottom of the charts or not charting at all getting medium to heavy airplay, like Aaron Watson's "That Look."

It's so weird, I was shopping in my local Wal-Mart and all of a sudden this song came on. I was literally shocked, the day before I heard Sara Evan's "Put My Heart Down". Also, that's more times I heard those songs than on my local radio station

I've heard Sara Evans' "Coalmine" several times at Buffalo Wild Wings and "Tonight" at LongHorn Steakhouse a few separate times as well, lol. But hey, I ain't complainin'.

I'm hearing this so much locally, it seems as though it's in heavy rotation. I just think this is a great country record worthy of top-10 and even number 1 status. It's a definite hit if distributed and promoted in the proper way.

It's a definite hit if distributed and promoted in the proper way. If you're in Texas, then yeah, chances are it might be in high rotation on your local station(s). This is in power rotation at KKBQ Houston (56 plays in the last 7 days), and it's getting some pretty good support in Corpus Christi and El Paso as well as Oklahoma City. KBEQ in Kansas City is also giving this some good spins (31 plays in the last 7 days there). Aaron is an independent artist partnered with Thirty Tigers Records. Thirty Tigers recently added a radio promotion team, and this is the first song that they've charted with. Given that they're so new (their radio promo team, that is), I think they're doing great. I really don't expect this to be a big hit (primarily due to the label situation), but it's nice to see that some stations have supported this. If I were running a radio station I'd be all over this one. I mean, what's not to love? It's a great song and it sounds like an obvious hit. I definitely believe that if Aaron were on a bigger label, or if a more well-known artist had released this song, it'd be an easy #1 hit. Someone like Blake Shelton or Chris Young or Easton Corbin would take this straight to the top of the charts. George or Alan could've taken this to #1 too, if it were 5 years ago of course.

^ I knew I'd sure been hearing this a lot! Thanks for the confirmation there, haha. Too bad more stations aren't jumping on this (and never will), but it's nice that at least a handful have.

I don't want to put down the label it's on. I know they're doing the best they can with what resources they have. It's just too bad this great record isn't getting the attention it so deserves. I have to say it's not only my favorite to hear right now but ranks #1 in all of 2015 so far in my mind.

I like this! Not expecting this to do well, but I wish all the best to Thirty Tigers to promoting this, and I agree with the above statements that this would've been a hit if Blake Shelton sang it.
