All I keep thinking of is the Jeff Carson song, lol.
We'll likely get a Q4 release for Jake's upcoming album and the title does leave me hopeful.

Solid producers lined up for the album. Cautiously optimistic.

I like this a lot. I hope it isn't over-produced but seeing how he dropped Moi, I'm not as concerned. He doesn't sound great singing it (almost like he had 7 bud lights and got dared to do karaoke) but I hope the studio version captures some of that playfulness in the song. Sounds like something Barenaked Ladies would release and I love that.

The lyrics sound good in the audio, but he sings them kind of weird. I'll wait to hear the studio version before I give my full opinion.

Hope the studio version is better, this sounds terrible and it feels like an attempt to follow along in the Sam Hunt style. I guess I could contribute that to Shane McAnally having a hand in the writing.

Lol, the user already took the video down. Fortunately there's another one from the same concert that somebody uploaded that I replaced it with. That one might soon be taken down too though.

I can't think of a single female in the Genre that is the same stylistically to any of the men. True, but I just meant that I don't think Shane McAnally's writing necessarily equates to Sam Hunt's sound, because his songs sound quite different when Kacey Musgraves records them. Likewise, I'm certain Chris Stapleton's "Crash and Burn" would've sounded far different had he recorded it than the version we got from Thomas Rhett.

This makes me happy! I love all of his music! The only single he has ever released I didn't like was "Days Of Gold". I still think he should've released "Ghost Town" as a single and the duet with Florida Georgia Line from the deluxe version of the album "Summer Jam". It's alright though because with the announcement of a new single means a new album by the end of the year!

Holy hell he looks amazing in that single cover. I loved his long hair, but he also has been looking really good with the shorter look. I guess he's just attractive to the point where anything will work on him, lol.

Based on the preview, I feel like there's a similar sounding song and I can't place a name on it. Anyone else notice this? I feel like it's more hip-hop sounding than country. Also really hate the production on this. I think Kick The Dust Up which I know many dislike sounds more country in terms of instrumentation than this.

Damn I really like this. The lyrics are solid, the production is fun and upbeat, and this is really catchy. It does kind of remind me of those off the wall type of 90's hits that remain popular to this day. The chorus is kind of cluttered though, and it sounds like they used the same vocal effects as "River Bank" used. I think this is a good lead single for Jake, and I like that it's very distinct from anything else on country radio right now. I feel like this song definitely shows some of his Sublime influences. I hope this is a huge hit for Jake.

I don't like this at all. The production and instrumentation is not that country and I'm sorry, but I've had about all the talking or spoken lyrics I can handle as of late. The lyrics themselves are pretty good but that's about all I enjoy in "Real Life".
I'm going to be really interested in seeing how this performs at radio. I can easily see this becoming a big hit for Jake, but I also see this being grating to some listeners and under performing, similar to the peak that "Days Of Gold" achieved. It's definitely a laid back, breezy summer anthem type song and I'm sure many will like this (and I think the potential for this to sell very well is there), but I'll go back to repeats of "Ghost Town" myself.

Whoa this is really different. Not bro at all, but also not country. Really sounds like a late 90s rock song. Man you put this and "crash and burn" and "loving you easy" together and this hardly sounds like country anymore Not a fan of this, but at least it's not hip hop garbage I hope his album shows this growth that he's been talking about

Why does Jake Owen think he's Smash Mouth?
This is a mess.
Jake, if you want to be taken more seriously as an artist, this is not the way to do it.

Or even that band Fastball. Judging by the title I was hoping for a slice-of-life American pie country song. Quite the contrary though. Summer country playlists are not shaping up to be that good thus far with A listers

I like this a lot. It reminds me of "American Kids," by Kenny a little bit. I easily see this being a hit for Jake.

This is like a mix between Barenaked Ladies and Bo Burnham and 90s rap. I can't really place my finger on it, and that's probably a good thing.
It's really catchy and I like it. I think we need to accept that mainstream country is going to be over-produced. It's very unfortunate because all theses songs can STILL be made with toned-down production and country instrumentation. And hell, since WE ARE COUNTRY FANS we would probably like the songs better.
That being said, give me this over Sam Hunt and Thomas Rhett and even Cole Swindell any day.
