The board seems to be split over the issue, but which version do YOU prefer?

The original version because I find it deeply unsettling that Taylor chose to be a featured act on her own song and with such a random rapper. She is super hot right now and doesn't need to resort to that tactic. The original was perfect the way it was.

Original, definitely.
By no means am I against adding a rap verse to remixes, but this just feels like Kendrick overload. I get that he's hot right now and the choice to use him makes sense, I just don't care for the result.
(I'm still rooting for it to top the Hot 100, though!)

I find it deeply unsettling that Taylor chose to be a featured act on her own song and with such a random rapper. The whole thing with 'featuring' is practically meaningless and a technicality in this day and age. It's pretty much a non-point. As is any reference of Kendrick being a "random rapper."

Lol, some of you really need to learn to pay attention if you think Taylor became the featured artist in the remix. Kendrick's parts comprise just over 40 seconds of a 3 and a half minute song. So then in what world does that make him the lead and Taylor the feature? I'd say a feature is much more a feature based on how much of the song time they occupy, not anything to do with the song structure. Like Beautiful for example I thought should have been credited as a duet since both Mariah and Miguel got almost exactly the same amount of singing time. Or SYA, where Wiz is more of the feature (1:10 of time compared to nearly 3 minutes for Charlie). This one is definitely a feature for Kendrick though, nothing more.
At any rate, I prefer the remix even though I've always liked the original quite a bit. The verses really were the weak links all along to me though in the original. It's the chorus, pre-chorus, and especially the bridge that I always loved. Those were all preserved and Kendrick kills his short little verses, not to mention the new production is all kinds of sleek and sexy. Yet it still sounds true enough to the original. It's the perfect remix to me.

It's pretty much a non-point. As is any reference of Kendrick being a "random rapper." I feel that Kendrick could have easily been interchanged with any other male rapper and no one would have noticed the difference. Most of them just feel so cookiecutter now. I grew up listening to some of the great rappers including Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eazy E, 2Pac, the Notorious B.I.G., Too $hort, Lil' Kim, MC Lyte, Missy Elliot, etc. so you can see why I have a hard time with some of these newer ones who just don't have that je ne sais quoi that those veteran ones had.

Overall, I probably find the original better but the remix is still hot

His role on this song only might be interchangeable, yeah, but surely you aren't saying Kendrick himself is cookiecutter?

I know for sure I'll be charting both on my personal chart in the coming months, so...

Both? I know for sure I'll be charting both on my personal chart in the coming months, so... Forgot to include a both option, sorry. And may I say I've never seen anyone around here who has charted (or in this case will chart) at least 2 versions of the same song at the same time.

And may I say I've never seen anyone around here who has charted (or in this case will chart) at least 2 versions of the same song at the same time. I've charted an original and a cover of the same song the same time a few times over the years. I think I also charted Scream & Shout as a separate entry as well and it probably charted simultaneously with the original, I forget. Other than that, all remixes for me get lumped in together and if I chart a song based on a remix, or if I get renewed interest in a song over a remix, I'll specify. An example would be when Gaga's Paparazzi was on the way down and I heard the Stuart Price Remix of it, so I tacked "Stuart Price Remix" on it in my chart and it rose back into the Top 10 again, even though its run continued. Sometimes I question whether to count two versions though, like with Elastic Heart, which I charted originally in 2013 in the version with The Weeknd. I ended up just continuing its chart run in the solo version of it though. I'll likely combine the two Bad Bloods for my chart.

I hate Taylor's verses and I think Kendrick did a great job so no contest, the remix wins for me.

The remix is infinitely better than the album version.

I hate the original, but at least the remix is tolerable.

The remix by far. It makes the song listenable.
