Hey, sabre14, did this get all or part of the Cumulus block this week? 11 adds is...impressive. (I realize I can wait till tomorrow but I'm impatient.) No, actually. They're all just 11 hard earned adds, lol. "Riser" got KKBQ in Houston though, which will certainly help Dierks' overall audience. 4 of the stations were iHeartMedia and one was CBS (KNCI in Sacramento).

Yeah I knew KKBQ was one, but wasn't sure about the rest. Thank you!! I actually find 11 hard earned adds a lot more satisfying. My cautious optimism is growing.

It's back in Billboard's top 40 tonight too (41-39*), passing a bulletless Billy Currington, but getting passed by Jerrod Niemann.

I have not heard this song yet on either of the Albany, GA stations, but I decided to check out the video on YouTube. Holy smokes! It was excellent! I watch those two little girls in the video and I see my 8 year old who just got glasses and my 5 year old who's still riding in a car seat. I got a bit teary when mom wouldn't let the younger girl get the dinosaur bubble stuff at the store because they didn't have enough money. They've already gone to bed tonight but in the morning I am going to give my girls (and their mother) an extra huge hug.
Kudos to Dierks for releasing this, and I really hope to be hearing it on my radio stations soon.

My wife watched the video tonight and she cried her eyes out. She is a teacher and she said she could see students who are going through terrible situations like this and here we are trying to figure out if we can afford to take the kids to Disney this year. This makes me respect Dierks even more for his eye for Everyman/everywoman and for his tenacity in fighting to get a song with a message out there.

I love this song, I would hope "Country Radio" would get this thing to top. This is a great performance by Dierks. Dierks should be a big enough name for this song to already be pushing top 30, it really is a bit of a bum out that its moving so slow. Any indication that "Riser" could start picking up momentum anytime soon?

Any indication that "Riser" could start picking up momentum anytime soon? If you read the past dozen posts or so, you'll see the indications for the potential momentum "Riser" could be picking up. :) Dierks got 11 new adds this week and finally cracked the MB top 40. "Riser" has increased about 600k in total audience so far this week as well.

I think this one's doing fine right now. "Riser" is up 62 spins and nearly 600k in audience this week and it should crack the MB top 30 within the next 2-3 weeks. The call-out research on MB looks promising with a low familiarity but also the second lowest negative percentage and the lowest burn rate.
I never thought this could avoid a slow climb but the sales and research are good enough for at least a top 15 finish.

I saw this video today, and it proved to me Country Music can still be sincere.

Just for carriekins: Riser debuts at #48 in Canada.
And Markus Meyer as well.

This is such a weird album cycle. Lead single is DOA, middle 3 all go #1, and fifth single isn't living up to its name.
Why did Bourbon in Kentucky perform so horribly? That's still baffling.

Radio literally told Dierks to come back with something with tempo. It's frustrating, but also well-documented. (And also what dm2081 said.) As for Riser, I'm excited to FINALLY welcome it to the top 30. I don't know what the end result will be with it, but I do know that it's selling pretty well for a 4th/5th single, and has been seeing pretty consistent gains in recent weeks. It's too early to tell if it's not living up to its name, but it does sound damn good on the radio.

I thought Bourbon in Kentucky was a publishing issue and someone asked it to be pulled?

I firmly believe Bourbon in Kentucky flopped because they pulled off the plug too early and switched to "I Hold On" soon after it peaked. If the label had given BIK more time to grow, I think it would have been a top 20 hit at least.

I thought Bourbon in Kentucky was a publishing issue and someone asked it to be pulled? Yeah, like carriekins said, "Bourbon In Kentucky" stalled out because radio simply didn't want a dark song from one of the format's best stars. I could dig up some links to various interviews and whatnot, but I really have to be heading to bed now..

Color me as someone else who was very disappointed that BIK didn't do much better, but I'm delighted that Dierks has become a superstar and continues to crank out great music, and I will definitely try to see him in concert in 2016.
Granted I do wish this scintillating song was doing much better on the charts, but slow and steady has become pretty standard for lots of artists as well as the deluge of promising newcomers including Kelsea and A Thousand Horses, this year's top new singles artists.
I can also say with 100% conviction that Dierks's current and previous CDs are downright wonderful; heavens knows that I play both of them a lot.

Congratulations to Dierks, whose 10th Anniversary edition of Miles & Music for Kids raised over $636k for the Monroe Carrol Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt yesterday. His 10 year total is just under $4 million for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. And 6 of his band and crew members snagged CMA SRO touring nomination, as well. :)

"Riser" has seen very good gains since the CMA's as Dierks has gained over 220 spins and over 3.0 million in total audience over the past two weeks -- the audience gains are triple what "Riser" saw the previous two weeks. What would really help is Cumulus. Now is the time that Westwood One giving this one an extra jolt of energy in the way of audience could really help "Riser" out here.

Its spins have been flat all week - I'm actually starting to wonder if they're not going to start readying the new album cycle like immediately after the new year and are just letting this ride out the end of the year. Top 20 doesn't seem very likely without Cumulus and they don't seem like they're in a hurry to add it. (Which means they'll add it Monday.) Things have been super quiet on the Dierks front, too. He/his team hasn't been tweeting, and aside from a Bobby Bones show in December he has nothing booked. Basically I think Riser's run will end at the end of the year, and we'll start getting ready for New Era.

You know Dierks' future plans much better than I do but if that's true then that would be a shame since a top 15 peak, even top 10 is very realistic with "Riser's" sales and research. The slow climb of this one due to its deeper nature -- which is unfortunate. I know that Dierks wanted "Riser" released but its hard to change the course of plans for a label if they had their heart set on some sort of Q1 release.

I hate long quotes LOL.
I *suspect* they may be looking for a Q2 release. It seems he has a UK tour booked in mid-late April, and I've heard his US tour will start in May. If they're looking to "go big" with this era and capitalize on Riser's (album) success then they may be looking at a single debut at the ACMs in April, and a summertime album release. (I would also expect we'll see his first hourly radio debut.)
Anyway. IF April is their schedule, then they can ride Riser through probably February, and I would think it would get a Top 15 peak. If that's not their schedule I would expect to see Riser wrap up its run with the new year.

Lol, apparently I'm just not paying attention. Westwood One (WIHC/W1MC) has accounted for 34 spins and 2.3 million in "Riser's" audience over the past seven days (13 spin increase combined, on both stations).

I've heard this one on the radio now a couple times recently. Glad to see it's doing a little better lately. I do hope it can make a Top 15/10 peak before it's done. This is a little slower and all, but I thought it honestly worked on the radio pretty well.

Why does it seem the last two singles from him have had a big problem climbing the charts? This song is easily one of my favorites, as it kind of ties into his fathers death and surviving.

Say You Do had a slow start because it suffered from the ridiculously high recurrent play for Drunk On a Plane. This had a slow start because radio won't play anything without tempo during the summer. And also because radio is dumb and won't play anything with depth.

This one is done. Label is off of it as of today. His new album is finished early, so new music coming from him soon.
