^And the album was released as a joint venture between Hollywood and Island, right? So if they split the costs, whatever profit they each got, albeit small, was probably enough. She'll make her money on tour too.

I don't hear a radio hit with this Stone Cold business. Hopefully the video and the discounted single can get her a nice H100 debut, because I'm not optimistic for this one's long term potential.

Stone Cold itself is actually a pretty solid song. If it were sung by Adele we'd declare it SLY part II, and rightly so. The mere thought of all the different live arrangements Kelly would give with this makes me sad that the song wasn't pitched to her. But Demi, despite being one of the co-writers, is ironically not at all convincing on it. I don't really have this problem with anything else on the album, but SC is so obviously a "Please you guys, listen to what a great singer I am!" moment that she actually gets in her own way on the road to greatness. She's often accused of sounding like she is trying too hard, and SC proves that criticism right IMO.
She showed her ass with the Taylor/Kesha thing - Demi means well but there is still something about her personality that is not all that inviting - and I've come to the conclusion that the reason she is struggling to do better this time around is simply because she struggles so much to connect with people, whether it be because of Demi herself or her take on the songs. Nonetheless I'm still rooting for her to do better in the long run (both as a singer and as someone who should think before she posts on social media). SC is a step in the right direction, at least.

demi does seem to be the jessica simpson of this generation in certain ways. she's got a good voice - one of the stronger ones, even... but for whatever reason(s) (many of which you touched on) she falls short in overall success with her singles compared to some of her contemporaries.
i wonder how much people will tear into me about my jessica comparison. go easy, it's an off-the-cuff comparison and not meant to be taken too seriously or scientifically. they certainly have their differences. many.

If it were sung by Adele we'd declare it SLY part II, and rightly so. . Disagree. This song is about a hundredth as good. And I believe she believes/d this was/is her Adele moment. Being slow and sad doesn't an Adele song make.

Being slow and sad doesn't an Adele song make. And therein lies the problem. It's not about being slow and sad, it's about the fact that Adele is able to connect so well to whatever she is singing. SLY on its own is not "great"*** if you ask me, but Adele makes it great. Granted, it helps that Adele wrote it so of course she will connect to her own words. Still, Stone Cold could be great with the right singer, but Demi is not that person. She just isn't clicking with this (normally I'd throw in an IMO at this point but this seems to be consensus), so we're left making comparisons to other people's better moments. I do agree that Demi probably thinks this is her Adele (or more likely for her, Kelly) moment. It neither of those, unfortunately. ***Just to make it clear, I'm not saying SLY isn't a good song. But if sung by a Demi type singer it would have been just that, a good song for Demi to show off her vocals. I need her to show off her ability to emote. Her Adele/Kelly moment will come when she figures out that having a vocal moment is about more than just having a good vocal.

Demi will straight up punch a girl in the face. Granted, she has to be coked up to do so but still...if I were Stalker Sarah (LOLOLOL @ her name), I would hide and get bodyguards. Still, she looks pretty cozy with Demi's sister in those pics LOL.

Apparently she's performing "Cool for the Summer" at the BBMAs.
Was there nothing else she could perform? Anything at all? Any album track would be a better choice.

I don't understand why she was even given that performance slot when she doesn't have any new material to promote..

Demi has the best agent in the game - she books literally every award show, regardless of relevance or single out.

It was probably the case that she was originally gonna use the spot to perform 'Stone Cold' since if Demi had her way it would be smashing right now and the performance would help fuel sales. But since none of that is there (no airplay, no sales) the spot would go to waste. But since she already had the spot she has to do something with it, so why not go with the biggest hit from the album?

If this is the way she's looking at it, she's letting her attitude get in the way of closing the era on a high mid-level note. Not that I would want her to perform Stone Cold - it's dead - but she's not going to get much of a sales boost from performing a 9 months old semi-hit either. Why not take a chance and perform an album track in an attempt to at least get a short-term sales boost for a song that is unfamiliar to the public? Oh, well. Her performance slot, not mine.

I think she should release a brand new song there.

I'm assuming that means no 4th single. I kind of figured with "Stone Cold" flopping and it being a ballad it was the end of the era.

I understand the reasoning but I don't think CFTS was big enough to warrant still performing it these many months later. A performance of a retooled or fun album track would be a much better use of this spot to advertise the tour.

Remember: You will never understand or be able to comprehend the difficulty they faced making this decision, NEVER. And the support, you can't even begin to imagine the level of support they still have.
But seriously, I'm not really surprised. They really seemed to be at that point where you either take the plunge to engagement or move on. Of course, marriage is by all means not for everyone, but they never seemed like the kind individually who wouldn't want to take that step in the end with someone.

She was seeing someone? For six years? What??? She was w the guy who played Fez on That 70's Show since she was 17. She's credited him with being her rock during her struggles and rehab days and why she was able to make it alive to sobriety.

Everyone knows Wilmer Valderrama is a cheating piece of shit. He broke Mandy Moore's heart and slept with Lindsay Lohan LOL. I'm glad he was able to help Demi with her sobriety but imo, she is better off without him.

Hello ladies. This thread is so sparsely communicated in I wanted to help I intend to read all 9 pages and become familiar and oh for the record I happen to be one of few people who like Demi singing . I don't care if she screams or shouts. I still respect it.
