How many On The Verge artists have actually broke Top 10? Has Tori Kelly had two On The Verge deals? Was Jennifer Lopez owned by On The Verge? (HOWL HOWL HOWL, GAFF GAFF GAFF) Here's the list of songs that went Top 10, some even #1. Iggy Azalea - "Fancy" (feat. Charli XCX) Rixton - "Me And My Broken Heart" Sam Smith - "Stay With Me" Clean Bandit - "Rather Be" (feat. Jess Glynne) Tove Lo - "Habits (Stay High)" Nick Jonas - "Jealous" The problem is not being "on the verge" the problem is being on the verge out of nowhere. Stay with me and Fancy were selling really well before putting a feet on the charts. From the list Habits and Rather be really benefited of the deal, but the deal started when both song were on the chart for weeks and not at the beginning of their chart run

I think it's a good program when they pick the right songs.

I always confused her and Abigail Breslin because of this. Very young, Oscar-nominated actresses whose careers seem to have paralleled each other's in film. Sadly, Abigail's singing career never took off: Omg she tried a singing career too?! They're the same.

Kind of hate to say it, but this is pretty catchy. This reminds me of something Tove Styrke could have easily tacked on her Kiddo album.

The problem is not being "on the verge" the problem is being on the verge out of nowhere. Stay with me and Fancy were selling really well before putting a feet on the charts. From the list Habits and Rather be really benefited of the deal, but the deal started when both song were on the chart for weeks and not at the beginning of their chart run It's to give up and coming artistsa chance at a pop hit (except for Nick and Nate though). I think it's a good program when they pick the right songs. Deal or not, there are a good bunch of new artist whose label push them way beyond the natural path of their songs, when the song pick up that's not a problem, but in most cases it ends in a Stuck on a feeling/Nobody love situation. The song reach a high position on the chart but it's not backed by the sales, so radio drops the song. In both cases the song climbed after being dead on radio so maybe if the label had used another kind of strategy and let the song grow at a more natural path, maybe the timing would end working better for that songs. There are some cases that the strategy is simply ridiculous like Kaya Stewart case, i don't want to start talking about how evident is the fact that this girl is not ready for spotlight (her body language in the video is pure amateurism which is not a problem at all given her age, but there's no reason to push for a musical career now when you can wait for her to be ready), they push the song to radio but didn't make any other big promo for her, the result; the song never reached top 300 on itunes, i think I'm in love with the boy must be the song with less sales to reach top 30 on pop. I don't mind at all radio give an oportunity to new artist, in fact it's great they do it (because if the don't bet on new artist radio will end being irrelevant), but i think it's better to make the push at a later stage of the chart run. Exactly like they did with Habits and Rather be. In those cases both song showed they had some legs and then radio gave the final push and make both songs smash hits. In the end it doesn't matter if they push this song more or less, if people like it it will be a hit if not it will die before reaching top 10. But i don't really think that a newbie's song in the lower part of itunes top 100 receiving updates like if it was Adele's new song really help. From the songs that really benefited the on the verge deal, all received the deal when they were in the chart for some weeks, and the most similar case to Love myself is the big big bang and we all know how that ended

Sometimes you hear a pop song on the radio and you know that song's only intention was to be manufactured for airplay on the radio with no other purpose to serve other than to be a clean, somewhat catchy, pop song. I've nothing against such songs but more times than not, I find it hard to like them because they do absolutely nothing for me. That's what I felt listening to this song. It was just in one ear and out the other.

I am just DEAD at these lyrics. So many unintentionally hilarious gems. Especially coming from her. Not to be a bitch, but girl is a bit on the frumpy side to be pulling this all off convincingly. It's a catchy pop song though and definitely a hit. It's one of those first listens and already in your head songs. Local stations already all over it, and they almost never play new stuff not by a big name artist.

The song is pretty bad, but that never stopped a song to become a hit

Pulse would hate on a song that's clearly a smash.

I was riding in a car with a 9 year old boy today and when this song came on the radio, he made a face and said it sounded like "something that would play on the end credits of a kid movie. Maybe the Lego Movie or a Teen Beach Movie".
I laughed for like a hour.
It is catchy though.

A comedian friend of mine wrote a song called Love Yourself and made a (nsfw) video for it months ago. youtu.be/AYFugawZ8dsHailey clearly saw this and snagged the concept ;)

This is actually really catchy. The chorus kind of reminds me of Charli XCX.
Those updates are massive even with OTV... On its way to become a hit then?

Sounds like GRL "Ugly Heart" a bit Ugly heart was way better than this. This must be the year of the generic by formula songs, at least Fight song got success all by itself (because radio was really reluctant to play it)

I've tried several times with this now, and it's still in one ear and out the other. The video doesn't do anything for me either, other than the Self Service shirt.
