What a mind-blowing selection from OTV. How can they pick "Kiss You in the Morning" and then this? I thought they hit gold with "Buy Me a Boat" but this is even pushing the envelope further. It's a shame that playing traditional country is now "pushing the envelope."
Nonetheless, I see this song as a modern-day "Whiskey Lullaby." Regardless of how much non-OTV airplay it gets, the fact that people are *hearing* it on the radio will open doors that were previously closed.
Like the song or not, this is a big choice.

"Burning House" gets 11 more adds this week (7 last week), and I can assure that there will be a bunch of iHeartMedia stations in there.
The song's official impact date is still two weeks out (July 6th).

Sorry for a double post but out of the 11 new adds "Burning House" got this week, 5 of them were iHeartMedia stations. That brings this song's total to 18 total stations, with 10 of them being iHeartMedia. The full effect of the "On The Verge" program probably won't be in effect 'til July 6th.
I like the fact that 8 other "non-iHeartMedia" stations have already added Cam's song, two weeks before its official impact date. I know this song is pretty much the polar opposite of what's been popular for radio to spin these days (new female artist, under produced, clever and thought provoking lyrics) but I think that with good sales (which the signs have already pointed to), this could be a pretty big hit. I'm not saying this will be a future #1 or anything but an impactful top 10 single is certainly possible.

Does anyone know who Cam is? Apart from www.camcountry.com and her Twitter, we really don't know too much about her whether Cam is an acronym of her name or what she has done before her big break. She doesn't have a Facebook or a Wikipedia article either.I took care of the latter.

This week was the first full week "Burning House" saw some serious airplay, as Cam garnered roughly 200 spins and over 1.0 million in audience on MB, so there's a good/reasonable shot this actually debuts on Billboard airplay chart tomorrow.

In addition to a lot of new airplay on iHeartMedia stations (gearing up for On The Verge), the Cumulus block also added "Burning House" this week. She's gotten anywhere from 4-19 spins at each Cumulus station, with KATM Stockton leading the way. I'm just about to wrap up my chart projections -- suffice it to say that Cam will see a very nice debut tomorrow :)

A very nice debut indeed. :) Cam really is picking up some major spins on a daily basis at this point and yesterday probably bumped her up a couple chart spaces alone. "Burning House" got 18 more adds this week (Cumulus black among them) and is now on 36 total stations, one week before the add date. I'm so relieved this was the "On The Verge" selection because for just the second time in this program's short history (Chris Janson), I'm not cringing at seeing their selected single soar up the chart.

You cringed at Craig Campbell and A Thousand Horses jumping up the chart? I wasn't a fan of this program in the first place, so it could have been any song when the program started ("Keep Them Kisses Comin'") and I would have cringed. I like Craig's song though. I also wasn't a fan of "Smoke", which I seem to be in the minority when it comes to that feeling. "On The Verge" is now well over a year old and I have come to accept this program is not going anywhere, so admittedly that makes these selections not affect me as they did a year ago. At least the past two seemed to be fan influenced by the terrific initial single sales "Buy Me A Boat" and "Burning House" garnered from Bones' radio show, which is much better than their "gut feel" explanation laid out in the Washington Post article last summer.

If OTV pushes a good song successfully, then it doesn't bother me. Craig Campbell's pyrrhic victory run to #8 with "Keep Them Kisses Comin'" was kinda not the fault of OTV, but I liked that song.
I heard this one last night on the Nash FM station out of Flint and thought that it was a little circuitous lyrically, but at least had enough good points to keep itself going. I'm still bummed that "My Mistake" didn't go anywhere, but this song seems like it's not a bad consolation prize.

"Burning House" looks to easily be the most added song on MB this week, as Cam already has north of 30 adds as of 1:45 eastern time.

Press Release JUL 06 2015 Cam Is On The Verge as iHeartRadio Helps Ignite "Burning House"Following the explosive sales success of Arista Nashville singer/songwriter Cam’s song “Burning House” after being featured on iHeartMedia’s nationally syndicated The Bobby Bones Show, the song has not only been chosen as Cam’s new single, but Cam has also been selected as the next iHeartRadio On The Verge Artist. The six-week program includes on-air exposure as well as significant digital and social support across iHeartMedia’s network of Country radio stations and websites. The program is based on key tracks and artists that iHeartMedia’s programmers are collectively passionate about and has proven instrumental in the development of such successful and highly credible emerging artists as Sam Hunt and Lee Brice. The program is set to launch today, also the official airplay impact date for “Burning House.” Nash Country Weekly is already cheering Cam’s “smoldering vocals” in “Burning House” with an “A” grade review that promises “the tune exposes Cam for what she is—a damn fine talent,” while Roughstock lauds “Burning House” as “a truly remarkable single” and “one of the most beautiful (and simply elegant) singles to hit country radio in 2015.” Featuring “Burning House” and her recent single “My Mistake,” Cam’s Welcome to Cam Country – EP is available for sale here. Cam’s EP and upcoming full-length album are produced by GRAMMY®-winner Jeff Bhasker (Bruno Mars, Beyoncé, FUN., The Rolling Stones, Taylor Swift) and Tyler Johnson (Ed Sheeran, OneRepublic, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Mikky Ekko).
Lee Brice was never an OTV artist, lol. I think they probably meant Dustin Lynch or one of the other OTV selections.

So exciting to see this getting so much support. Granted it's not on the merits of the song alone and it had to have help, but it's still great to see it get such a hot start. I'm expecting this to be a very big hit.

Just heard this-wow, what a slow song for summer Country radio. It was very pretty but I still thought 'meh'. Not sure what distinguishes it over so many other lovely true country songs sung by women. But I'll be happy if it does well anyway, just for variety and for getting more women on the chart.

Not sure what distinguishes it over so many other lovely true country songs sung by women. But I'll be happy if it does well anyway, just for variety and for getting more women on the chart. The chord arrangement in this song is very distinguishable IMO and the production is stripped down compared to most songs these days on mainstream radio, and Cam's vocal performance is pretty darn good. I think this song is a cut above most, whether they'd be men or women singing it. Anyway, if this ends up hitting the top 10 it won't be til October or November if I had to guess, so while it is being released in the summer, I don't think it's a big deal at all. Some 'counter programming' helps every now and then, though it does seem like some labels and artist go too far out of their way to release slow songs or ballads during the good weather months.
Edit: "Burning House" jumps up 8 spots on MB's rolling chart today, so the 'On The Verge' program is in full effect now. Cam should sail easily into the MB top 40 next week.

7eau, I didn't really look into her new music as I haven't been impressed with a lot of the new artist's music, but this is really good. I also really liked "Half Broke Heart" off her EP.

Goodness, where've I been with this one? It must be that I pretty much only listen to Austin's only station for progressive country music and only recently begun hearing this and am in love. This is easily one of the best efforts this year by a female country artist. I'm going to be listening to this quite a bit over and over the next week.

"Burning House" will debut at #36 in the MB top 50 this week; a 15 spot jump from #51 the week prior.

That chart move will get Kingsley countdown spins this coming weekend. More spins everywhere for this song.
I'm amazed that this song sounds good to me. The publicity for it is of the hype-type that usually accompanies a song I'm never going to like, but this has strong vocals, good harmony, interesting lyrics, and a stripped-down arrangement. So instead of my usual whining, I can tip my hat to this one and root for it to go all the way to #1. That will cancel out the awfulness of the Canaan Smith chart run for me -- something good sometimes follows something bad.

Look for Cam to bust into the Top 30. She should easily pass Kenny Chesney Big & Rich Brothers Osborne Chris Young Mickey Guyton Hunter Hayes Austin Webb Jana Kramer FGL Old Dominion and Reba also I think she'll sneak pass Dan + Shay. Cam I think will land at #25 as I think Lady A and Kip are too far ahead.

This is a stunning effort. Just discovered it on Apple Music. Looking at big things for Cam. It's nice to see this bursting onto the charts.

I hate to rain on everyone's parade, but I don't get all the praise over this song. I find it kind of boring. Granted, it's a nice change of pace over what's popular in country right now, but this song just isn't catchy at all to me. I'm kind of surprised radio seems to be giving this song a decent chance at success, when recent singles from Kacey Musgraves, Mickey Guyton, etc have failed to have a big impact (Mickey's did at first, but died down shortly after).
Although I usually always end up liking songs that I dislike at first, so I'm sure this will eventually grow on me.

He played it on his show and it saw immediate success on iTunes. The I Heart Radio execs took notice and chose it as this quarter's "On the Verge" selection, which is why it's currently sustaining significant radio play. That said, it is holding up VERY well at iTunes, so it would seem the buying public is equally willing to make this a hit

Like carriekins said, this song was first played on The Bobby Bones show and iHeartMedia decided to select it as their next "On The Verge" single after the sales exploded. It's been unfortunate that Kacey can't get significant airplay but in terms of Mickey's song, yes she got those big 79 first week adds, but "Better Than You Left Me" didn't test all that well and the stations who did add her song kept it in low rotation (why it has stalled), and her song didn't and still isn't selling near as well as "Burning House." We can obviously debate 'til we're blue in the fact which song is better ("Better Than You Left Me" or "Burning House") but fans do want to hear "Burning House" as its currently #16 on the country iTunes chart and #64 on the all-genre chart -- which is fabulous for a song in the 30's on the MB chart. "On The Verge" is a new program where the executives of iHeartMedia selects a certain song and artist every two months or so to put into a minimum amount of rotation on all their monitored stations. The result is a fast climb to the top 30 -- so her quick rise at radio was to be expected.
