Changes by David Bowie??… I barely hear a resemblance…… I still think this would be a great CHR/Pop track.. maybe they can edit out that different part in the middle...

It would be great for Beck to have a multi-format smash!

Changes by David Bowie??… I barely hear a resemblance…… Come on - "Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes" and "D-d-d-d-dreams"
I couldn't imagine Beck would want to even try to send this to CHR, and right now, record labels/radio corps are really trying to keep pop and Alternative separated as much as possible - if they're not even listing Renegades, Ex's and Oh's, and Hold Back The River under Cool New Music CHR on AllAccess, I can't see how there's any way anyone would try to send this

But all three of those songs do have pop pushes planned, they even have threads on the pop forum. Think the labels are quite simply just waiting for those songs to run their course on alternative before sending them to pop.

I don't like the fact that this gets an explicit tag for two f-words. If the rest of the album does not have any profanity, then they better remove it and not repeat what happened for "No Fixed Address" where "Edge of a Revolution" is explicit for a few s-words but "Million Miles an Hour" and "Get 'Em Up" have f or s-words and avoid getting the tag. If it's like that, just don't give the album the explicit tag.

Republicans don't want songs with titles like "Hell Raising Women" becoming hits, because then that means every station will go non-corporate like 91x, so they have to make sure to warn us about each and every swear so they can control the charts and the climate.

This. Remember, Dick Cheney once shot a guy in a "hunting accident" just for suggesting that alternative radio should change its direction.

They just added Ex's And Oh's to CHR Cool New Music, but are you sure about the other two?

"Renegades" is still building at HAC, but is included on Interscope's promotional top 40 playlist, which has generally been solid evidence of an upcoming push. "Hold Back The River" is still moving at HAC too, though Republic doesn't have it listed on their site's pop promo section yet, but it has picked up a couple adds at CHR. AllAccess is also not the only source for radio releases (though it's becoming more of an all-in-one solution with the recently-added downloads and video sections); it's a stretch to say labels are trying to keep alt and pop separate just because songs aren't always under Cool New Music right away.

^I just know that a year ago, the CHR Cool New Music section of AllAccess was flooded with Alternative stuff, usually weeks or even months before those Alt tracks actually went for pop adds, so I feel like something is changing with the promo for Alt tracks - there are 6 or 7 pop stations now spinning Renegades, 2 spinning Ex's And Oh's, 2 spinning My Type, and I think only 1 spinning Hold Back The River, so most CHR stations are definitely not feeling any kind of urgency in adding Alt music onto their playlists - if anything, music from outside the typical modern pop sound is causing many CHR listeners to change the station, or at least that's what I remember reading from a lot of CHR PDs who didn't think adding Budapest and Riptide on their station would be a good idea (and some who tried them and then pulled them almost immediately)
Also, in the last six months or so, so many Alt stations have reimaged to sound like Alternative-CHRs, it just seems like there's been a shift in how current Alt music is being promoted to radio

Top 40 on Active: 43 40 BECK Dreams 175 135 40 0.47 I'm not surprised. It's just like the 80s. I remember KLOS(rock station) giving mad spins to Human League and Duran Duran. later in late 90s. Pirate Radio (Rock Station created soley for the spinning of Glam and Hair Metal; out of the blue, started spinning Ton Loc "Wild Thing" true story.

Most of the spins on Active are coming from medium-small market stations that don't have full signal Alternative radio in their city - also, can't really see much difference between Active playing this vs. playing Dead Inside (since Dead Inside sounds like Duran Duran)

I think it shoulda been the other way around.

at long last, this song is less than 100 spins away from moving up a notch to #2:

Hopefully exs and ohs doesn't pass this, this may be Beck's best chance to go #1!
Meanwhile Renegades refuses to move out of #1, and I think by January it'll still be top 5 (again I say, not a bad song, just sick of long chart runs on Alt)
