This is cute! Does it sample Sade? It really serves me updated Sade vibes.

I like this. It does sound a lot like "The Sweetest Taboo."

A lot of her material has that kind of Sade esque vibe to it, mix tapes were on fire and she's written for a lot of artist

She doesn't have an album thread? I'm loving the album though. I'm so stoked that she included a rendition of Anita Baker "Angel". It was one of my favorites on John's album.

This is a great song and I hope it does well. I want them to release the remake of "Angel". I feel it will do well on urban AC, very well because it is really good.

Covers don't generally seem to do all that amazingly at Urban AC. Coincidentally, Anita's cover of Tyrese's "Lately" is one of the rare recent exceptions I can think of (but that probably benefited from Tyrese's original not really being an Urban AC staple to begin with). I feel like Urban AC listeners are purists and very traditional, and if given the choice between a new version or Anita's classic, they'd rather just hear Anita's.

I wasn't aware of that with covers at that format, but I guess I am going by Jazmine's single doing so well and being heavily sample too. I do think it is different enough from Anita's that the two songs can be played side by side without any issue that they are the same song.

Songs with samples generally don't struggle at the format the same way outright covers do.

It doesn't even follow the same beat as the original. I think throwing hip-hop drum breaks behind an Anita Baker classic is actually even more likely to turn off the traditionalists.
