Definitely seems like momentum is on Kelsea's side here. The sales are off to a great start as well, already at #49 on the Country Genre chart. I'm sure radio would love nothing more than to make Kelsea a big star, so they can convince themselves that there's no such lack of female presence on country radio and pat themselves on the back.

This. Although at least we'd be getting a third(!!!) successful female star again. I hope she's just the first of several and that some of the others can break through over the next few years, but I'm definitely liking the thought of Kelsea starting a nice string of hits here. Things are really looking good for "Dibs" already.

Kelsea Ballerini and Dibs will make its Mediabase debut at #48. Congrats Kelsea as she right now has a bullet of +317.

Wow! Kelsea IS on her way to have multiple hits and stick around on country radio. Its bullet is pretty big, so I can imagine that this song will reach the upper tier of the charts. I'm so glad that she's breaking through. Country radio needs more females than Carrie and Miranda!

"Dibs" is doing pretty great here. Kelsea is up 142 spins and over 600k in audience over the past two days and jumps to #43 on the MB rolling chart (#39 on the Billboard Airplay chart). Its sales have continued to climb as well as "Dibs" is currently #39 on the Country iTunes chart and #204 on the all-genre chart. "Dibs" also got 23 more adds this week (89 total stations).
Even though this song is more of a continuation of her last single sonically, it's looking to be the right choice by Black River as country radio has opened up to this song and this artist.

The exact quote: Even before she recorded it, Ballerini started playing “Dibs” as she set up “Love Me” on her radio promotion tour, and it routinely got positive feedback from programmers. With that in mind, producers Forest Glen Whitehead and Jason Massey combed through YouTube videos of those station visits and fashioned the final product in a way that kept the best parts of the acoustic performances that seemed to win over those key broadcasters.

She's a young artist trying to get established. What they did was extremely smart and the final product is excellent so who cares? It's not like the rewrote the song. They basically just tailored production to fit what people already liked about it.
I can understand that not being everyone's thing or whatever, but you have to take a few gambles to establish yourself enough to gain that freedom down the road. She's on a small label that's gotta scrap for everything it gets.
I like her, I like the song, how it got to its final version is nothing but supplementary to me.

Yeah, that's fair. Definitely smart on their part.

I am just so happy that this song is doing so great and I just don't know how to describe it. Kelsea should be able to get Bob Kingsley country top 40 soon as she continues to easily outgrow those around her. I mean I knew Kelsea had some momentum but she'll be knocking on the Billboard Top 30 soon. So excited to see where Kelsea lands next Monday 'Dibs' chart run is so exciting to watch.

Has anyone heard the "radio version" of this? Is it really any different? I assume that is what you are talking about annie, right?

She's on a small label that's gotta scrap for everything it gets. Black River's independent but they have an endless limit of resources and money. Their biggest uphill battle is purely to get more name recognition. Has anyone heard the "radio version" of this? Is it really any different? I assume that is what you are talking about annie, right? I heard it on WYRK on Sunday and I didn't really hear a difference. Usually most stations play the version sent to All Access.

Gordon Kerr (CEO) is someone who is extremely well liked with country radio and they have built up a strong enough relationship with country radio as a whole to now have a leveled playing field with the corporate labels and bigger indie labels. Mike Wilson of Black River promotion has done a superb job as well in building up that relationship with radio and getting someone like Kelsea and even Craig Morgan and John King played (top 40 with "Tonight Tonight"). It usually takes a long time though -- roughly 8 years to get their first #1 single. I still think Craig will have a rough go at radio right now at his age and Kellie still faces an uphill battle as well but her latest song shows her deciding to make radio friendly fare to perhaps get back in the top 30 -- Black River's future still lies with artists like Kelsea and John King. Black River knows they have caught lightning in a bottle with Kelsea and know that "Dibs" is doing great. That doesn't mean that Kelsea's momentum can't go up in flames, because it can, as nothing is guaranteed in the music industry but things could not have gone any better thus far with launching Ballerini's career.

Kelsea Ballerini scores her second Top 40 on MB as Dibs makes an impressive 13 spot jump to land at #35. Here comes the Bob Kingsley CT40 spins.
Kelsea should easily get a top 20 out of this and I'm hopeful for a Top 10.

This single for me is a better 2nd single then the other female debut 2nd single offerings. I just think it works better than "whiskey" and "Blowin smoke". In my opinion It is much more radio friendly and is a non risky choice. I do in fact Think this will fare better than all the other "new" girls that were in this situation. I expect Top 20 and I'm highly optimistic for a top 10. I would love for her to breakout. I'm so happy This is starting out on radio how it has, hopefully it'll keep it up. :)

This is taking off much faster than any other recent female's follow-up to their first hit, so I'm pretty sure this is going to be another big hit indeed. I'm optimistically predicting another #1 here, but I do feel like at least a Top 10 finish is in the cards for this one.

Josh was actually signed to Black River Publishing at 19 years old and is from the Buffalo, NY area (Hamburg, NY -- a suburb). He also co-write "Lay It On Me" by Dylan Scott.

He is her boyfriend. Kelsea confirmed it on Taste Of Country Nights when the Host Sam Alex played a dumb game called fess or follow Confess something or follow Taste Of Country on Twitter.
I'm amazed at how this song is doing and I couldn't be happier.

They've been on the road together for a very long time, even before the radio tour started, so that's not surprising.

Oh goodness. I feel like this would have been a great move... a few months ago. Now I feel like it's too late for this to see any success on top 40 radio.
