Sorry for the double post, but it wouldn't include the link when I edited my previous post.
CMA news regarding Carrie:
The 5 categories are Entertainer, Female Vocalist, and Song/Single/Video for SITW.

It has been a quiet year in country music, relatively. There has been no standout superstars, it would seem... Just the usual Luke, FGL, Miranda, Blake, Carrie, Kenny, etc... So if Carrie has a chance at getting enough votes to win anything at all, I think this year would be a good bet. Not holding my breath or expecting anything, though. With this said, Carrie definitely has been the top female in country music this past year, and I do think, or at least hope, that voters are starting to get over the Miranda domination, so I could see that working in Carrie's favor. I think nominations will be very telling. If Miranda, again, receives more nominations than anyone else, I'd expect Miranda's domination to continue. But if she receives less than usual (3 instead of 8+ lol), I'd say that could be indicative of some changes. I'm anxious to see how things will turn out, but I'd love to see Carrie accept a CMA award on stage for the first time since 2008!
I'd also LOVE for SITW to be recognized. I don't think it'd win, but I don't believe Carrie has ever had a co-write nominated for Song/Single. It would be a nice honor for Carrie as a singer and songwriter, so my fingers are crossed for that!

And unless another huge song comes along I feel that "Girl Crush" - with all of its fabricated drama - will sweep the CMAs this fall anyway...

Let's don't expect anything. This is CMAs. Carrie will get shut down even tho SITW was a huge hit and GHX1 was also big.Hopefully Carrie will debut her new single .

I haven't expected anything big for Carrie on the awards show front for years now, but her continued success always leaves me hoping she'll (somehow) manage to get what she has earned one of these days.
I know voters love to go for the newer, hottest stars, but Carrie has continued to prove she deserves to be right along side those big names.
It's maddening to think if she were a male artist, she likely would have been nominated for every major category several times over by now.
A victory (or even nomination), in a big category would be a huge feat for Carrie, and it would make a huge splash in the genre. If there's anything this genre has desperately needed for years now, it's for a successful female to get the due props she rightfully deserves.
Country music has always meant so much to Carrie that I think a major nomination or two would be huge for females and the genre in general.
I'm not holding my breath, but I always hope.

Considering how silent it's been on the ML front ever since SB peaked and LRW had its hay day in the promo field, I'm not shocked in the slightest at how hard Sony is pushing Carrie now that Overton is finally gone (bless). Exactly what I was thinking. Country music in general has been pretty quiet this year. There haven't been any huge standout songs or artists. So I'd say the playing field, per say, is pretty even. And with Miranda's winning streak having gone on way past the point of exhaustion, I could see Carrie being the one who's pushed this year. And the kicker would be that Carrie has had two #1s and has likely (not positive) sold more of her Greatest Hits album than Miranda has of her latest studio album (within the eligibility period). I'm just thinking logically, which we all know doesn't always work for the CMAs... we'll have to wait and see!

You're right on all counts. I have 0 hopes and will be happy with the token FVOTY nomination. Anything else will be icing. ETA: ...Carrie has likely (not positive) sold more of her Greatest Hits album than Miranda has of her latest studio album (within the eligibility period). Sales figures... Thanks to oldbloke at UKMIX for this. I added the totals part which is based on my or oldbloke's calculation. 2015 MID-YEAR: COUNTRY ALBUMS Rank - Estimated Sales - TITLE - Artist 07 - 166,000 - GREATEST HITS: DECADE #1 - Carrie Underwood (total: 367,000)14 - 123,000 - PLATINUM - Miranda Lambert (total: 724,000)

And unless another huge song comes along I feel that "Girl Crush" - with all of its fabricated drama - will sweep the CMAs this fall anyway... That was really just a blip that got people talking, though. "Girl Crush" has just been dominating, and I expect it to sweep the Single/Song categories. It's sold about 1.2 million already, with no end in sight. My guess is that it'll go 2x Platinum before the year is over. It's heading for #1 at country radio, it's been #1 on Hot Country Songs for like 11 weeks (and counting), and it's starting to cross over to other formats as well. I'm hoping Carrie can win FV, but yeah, I doubt it'll happen. I just don't have any faith in the voters to give the award to anyone other than Miranda.

Yeah, like it or not, the female with the most buzz right now is Kelsea Ballerini. She 1)is the shiny, new penny; 2)has the narrative in place [the new Taylor, the next big female 'breaking records']; and 3) has the likeability factor. She's a shoo-in for the FVOTY nom, along with Kacey Musgraves with the critical acclaim. Those 2 don't have the backing needed to win though so... it's going to be Miranda... again. As big of a Carrie supporter that I am, I can recognize that she seems to have been relegated to the superstar background. The industry knows she's a superstar and she sells big and she gets #1s but that's it. Honestly, it's all very frustrating that they take her for granted. She's the easy target for snobby critics [See: Kacey album reviews] or she's forgotten altogether when talking about the evolution of country music by females. Not in every analysis, of course, but more often than should be. Even LTG never got to big-hit status in terms of downloads; no big sales spike either even right after being performed at the CMT Awards which is unusual when it comes to Carrie TV performances. Carrie's big moment in recent memory--- the SYA mashup. Now, THAT got a lot of mileage in the interwebs.
So, no, I don't expect recognition from the CMAs this year. I would LOVE to be wrong. Maybe this reverse psychology will work!
What I do know for sure is that I will always buy Carrie stuff and give full support and I'm so happy that after 10 years, she's still a HUGE superstar who gets great gigs and will have new albums every few years as long as she wants to release them. Her MUSIC will always be her legacy, career-wise, not the number of her awards or radio #1s.

Reading that summary of Carrie Underwood's achievements in the span of 10 short years blows my mind. And what's even more amazing is that her success, expansion of her brand, popularity in and outside the country genre continues to thrive, continues to grow!

Her and Reese Witherspoon look so much alike. Yes, except for the chin, mouth, nose and eyes. But a quick passing glance can certainly create the CU look-a-like illusion.

It's amazing how people hear of the baby-locked-in-car story and automatically accuse Carrie of being a bad mom. TWO posts on my Facebook newsfeed about it... No worries, I shut it down real quick!

Good work! Haha. Yeah, when Carrie first posted about it I was like "Oh no! People are going to use this to hate on her as a mother." and sure enough some have.

I'm hoping that Carrie gets the FVOTY award at the CMAs, but if Miranda wins, again, I hope she continues to win for the next 10 years. If it's going to look ridiculous to win 5 or 6 years in a row, might as well go really ridiculous.

Confirmed that the label has heard the album.Paraphrased, she says, "I really think that this will be the album where people say 'This is the Carrie album we've been waiting for.'" + New music on the radio likely before/by September. Time can't move fast enough!
