I believe it's between Carrie and Maren. I think Carrie has the edge given her history. We'll see! Ahhh but the problem is that Maren is brand new. No history of her nominations to base any predictions on! They could easily want to award new blood instead.

I honestly wouldn't take issue with any of the nominees winning. It's a strong category.

The Grammys ≠the country industry. *digresses again b/c it's 3pm and I'm still done* And Carrie is/has been a Grammy darling, much like Alicia Keys, Adele, Beyonce have been over the years....

It's sad that this album wasn't nominated. It's Carrie's best. Hopefully, next time.

Carrie ALWAYS stands a good shot at the Grammys. It's the only industry-voted show that continually nominates her songs individually. The ACMS/CMAS practically never nominate Carrie's songs, but the Grammys not only nominate them, they have rewarded six of them: "Jesus, Take the Wheel", "Before He Cheats", "Last Name", "I Told You So", "Blown Away", and "Something in the Water". So long as she gets nominated, I always consider her a frontrunner. Last year was a little different because Chris Stapleton was all the rage and was fresh off his CMA sweep... While Maren seems to be this year's Stapleton, I think it's to a much lesser extent. I think this year is Maren or Carrie, can't wait to see how it turns out! I'd be happy to see any of the nominees win, though, they're all great!

^ Where did you see that?? The Hot 100 updates on Mondays doesn't it? Sadly, DL is #74 on iTunes so 29 on Hot 100 seems very high.
Edit: just checked and it's #79 on Hot 100

Carrie Underwood is the top female in country this year. She comes in at #5 according to Billboard. Check her out in my thread Year End Charts in the country sub-forum.

Always two steps ahead!
Carrie Underwood rocking the 'greenery' color back in 2009, way ahead of her time for 2016's Color of the Year.

Her voice was made for this type of song tbh!

Are they pushing to get Dirty Laundry to #1 before Christmas? Sure looks like it.

I see lots of Carrie and Mike in him! He's gonna be quite the heartbreaker when he grows up! (PS how is he that big already!?)

Wishful thinking, but I'd love to see what she can do as a solo writer. Based on what we've heard these past few years, she's been responsible for the best lines in so many of her songs (the Ajax reference in "Dirty Laundry," the faucet line in "Little Toy Guns," the entire title and theme for "Something in the Water," the hook for "Two Black Cadillacs," etc.), so I'd love to see her take a risk and cut something written entirely by herself.

Not expecting an EOTY nomination at the ACMs... there was a lot of buzz leading up to the CMAs, but there's nothing now. I wouldn't be shocked either way. She's also a two time winner, so there probably isn't as much of a push to get her nominated, at least I wouldn't think. We'll see... nominations should be coming fairly soon! :)

Lowkey think she could be involved with a tribute to him at the Grammys in Feb.

Yeah, I now have little doubt Carrie will perform at the Grammys, but I think it will be in tribute to George and not her own performance or a duet with Keith Urban.
Having said that, with Prince, George Martin, Merle Haggard, and Leonard Cohen all passing since last year's Grammys, some may get left out. George Michael won AOTY, though, so you'd think he'd get something.
