Gord Bamford's Canadian country hit is set to impact U.S country radio on July 13th. Bamford's label promotion team for this push is unknown to me (not that it will matter too much since I don't expect this to do much anyway). He's been on an extensive radio tour the past year. The song will also be added to The Highway's "On The Horizon" show, on Sirius/XM.
This song is his 2013 #1 Canadian country hit "When Your Lips Are So Close", which was also the Single of the Year at the CCMA (Canadian Country Music Awards). It also went Gold in Canada, which is pretty impressive.

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) Country music singer-songwriter Gord Bamford’s single, “When Your Lips Are So Close,” is set to release in the U.S. on all digital service providers including iTunes July 10 and at Country radio July 13. The sultry, love song is just the third song from a Canadian to top the country charts in more than 20 years. And now it’s aimed at a new audience. (See lyrics below.)
Concurrent to the single launch, Bamford is accelerating his U.S. rollout, opening for Reba in Bangor, Maine August 21. The show at Darling’s Waterfront Pavilion leads into a slate of stateside concerts through late summer and into the fall. Look for a more detailed tour announcement soon.
Featured in a recent issue of Country Weekly, the Nashville-based publication asserts, “The timing for Gord is about right” to make his run at American audiences. Reflecting that commitment, Bamford, who has been writing and recording in Nashville for many years, recently purchased a family home just outside of Nashville making music city his full-time residence.
Already an arena headliner north of the border, Gord is quickly earning the appreciation of radio programmers and other gatekeepers. Limited 2014 touring in the States drew significant media acclaim.
Back in Canada, Bamford’s 8th Annual Charity Golf Classic will be held August 12-13 in Lacombe, Alberta. Combining music, golf and a lot of fun, the event has raised more than $2 million to date for Gord’s twin philanthropic passions – children’s charities and music education. Stay up-to-date on plans for the classic here.
Honored as the CMA’s Global Artist of the Year in 2013, Gord is a 19-time Canadian Country Music Association winner and the reigning Male Artist of the Year, with the gold-certified No. 1 hit that Bamford co-wrote with Byron Hill and Brent Baxter, “When Your Lips Are So Close,” named the CCMA’s most recent Single of The Year.
